Software :: Migrate A MySQL Database Without Special Character?
Feb 27, 2009
I have two systems at hand. One a Debian box, the other a RHEL5 box. On the Debian box there is a MySQL server (5.0.32-Debian_7etch1) running which hosts Databases from a customized content management system. This system has grown over time and the tables are stored with different collations. Now I want to export and reimport the data on the RHEL5 MysQL server (5.0.45).
And here the special character hell begins. It doesn't matter if I reimport the data as utf8, as latin1 or latin1_swedish_ci. Everytime the special characters are wrong and distorted. Surprisingly the data that is shipped with the unmodified CMS displays the special chars correctly after installation. But I have to import the modified version from the old server as there are lots of modifications to import.
Old server:
Quote:
character set client utf8
(Global value) latin1
character set connection utf8
[code]....
New server:
Quote:
character set client utf8
(Global value) latin1
character set connection utf8
we have Centos linux and database postgresql and taking dump in .data files. need to find all speical character in my database dump .data files it is open in txt paid and store in one txt file. e.g of special character are as below.
I've setup a CentOS apache web server, and loaded a site onto it. The site previously was functioning under windows xp (before I "stepped in") and wamp. What I did was copy the site in /var/www, reconfigure the httpd.conf (DocumentRoot /var/www/site, etc). Although when I try to open the webpage I get this error: Database Error: Unable to connect to the database:The MySQL adapter "mysql" is not available.
Operating System: CentOS 5.4 I have a bash script that runs another php script to return a decrypted password. The return value is right but when I concatenate it with another string, I would not have the whole string. To better understand the problem, here is my script:
I want to match some filename in some text, but the filenames I have no control of, so "[" can "]" can appear in the filenames.so do I always have to use sed to addslashes to these variables before I have to grep them? and what other characters have I missed other than "[", "]", "."?
I have installed Mysql in Ubuntu 9, for the use of roundcube database. After installing iam getting the error like this
* Stopping MySQL database server mysqld [ OK ] * Starting MySQL database server mysqld [ OK ] * Checking for corrupt, not cleanly closed and upgrade needing tables.
So because of this in the roundcube configuration its giving the error message that MYSQL is not installed. So Kindly give me a idea how to solve this.
I'm having problems connecting to the mysql database on my system. I first noticed this when I was trying to set up the program anymeal. I subsequently tried using MySQL Administrator (mysql-admin), but had no luck. It gives my the following feedback:
Code:
Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock' (2)
Click the 'Ping' button to see if there is a networking problem. I press the ping button, and it seems to connect.
I need to migrate data from Lotus Notes (LN) to MySQL system. I googled around, but didn't find much information about it. The LN has an option to export data like Lotus 1-2-3, which allows you to open the data into excell, but nothing apparently to MySQL. I also opened the MySQLMigration-ToolKit. In the import DataBase System, it doesn't appear LN as an option of supported systems. We are trying to keep things using freeware and cross-platform, although sometimes providing final customer products that run on MS. There is any tool available around, or should we go and code the routines to read the tables from Lotus to MySQL using a programming language like C?
I have to enhance the behaviour of a backup script written in perl. I don't need to change it, what I need to do is to create a bash script that does some checks like file name and file size, execute the backup script then check if the backup files match the original files. Here's how I try to do it:
- read the files from the original files folder - store them in an array - search in the array the files that have a specific file extension - store the file names that match the search pattern (I know the backup script skips some files so I can hardcode the search pattern) - run the backup script - read the files from the backup folder - store them in an array - compare the original files name and size stored in an array with those from the backup folder - send a report email
My bose ask me to convert a CentOS system password like "LMPQSMTE0nHlQ" to postfix MySQL MD5 Hased password, I find CentOS seems has 2 kinds of password form, one is shorter and the other is very long like"$1$C2MSk16n$WT5JWnzYH7XpCCjsiE2bd1", however I find postfix is exactly the later long one, so does any one know how to convert the short form to the later one
I am trying to create a table T having a field F which should be able to store variable-length sequences of "unsigned" characters (8bit values ranging from 0 to 255 (not including 0, including 255)).(MAX_LENGTH) is not working, as it seems to want sequences of 8bit values ranging from 0 to 127 (thus "signed" characters). Can anyone help me by pointing out if there is a type suited for my needs (or if such a type does not exist)? For those familiar to C programming and working with the MySQL client library, I should be able to (successfully) do something along the lines of:
My existing MySQL database is running on 11.1. I plan to do a fresh install of 11.3 in order to utilize the trimming feature for SSD drives. How should I install my MySQL database to the new version? Do I perform a backup then restore to the new install? Or can I just save the mysql db files to a cd and somehow attach it to the new install?
Specifically I'm looking for a native Linux program that is similar in functionality to Navicat or SQLYog. I.e. I need something good at editing data. Free would be best, but not essential.
I recently installed a portable WAMP server on my usb stick. Really nice, I can do some php programming on my girlfriend's windows7 laptop without installing anything on it.I also have a LAMP environnement on my linux computer. When I plug my usb stick on my linux box, I can easily mount -o bind /usbstick/wwwfolder ~/public_html and work on my php script from there.
But my question is, is there a way I could get the database from my usb stick's MySql server, to run on my linux MySql server? So I can modify data base schema from my Linux workstation, doing some INSERTS in some tables, and then plub my usb stick on the laptop and get my up-to-date database running from the portable environnement?I don't know where / how MySql stores its databases. Basically, I want to "mount" the database from the usb stick in my Linux' installed MySql server, without extracting and importing the data, so there is just ONE database used for BOTH environnement.
I posted a thread regarding a CD Base Application. I can run the program, but for some reason It does not seem to work properly.
For some reason in exits the program back to the command prompt. I am using the code from Linux programming 4th edition which you can get it from here...and in the folder ch08/app you will find all you need to create the CD database application.
I am not having any knowledge of mysql database & in my present jobs i have to solve problem on mysql database. need some commands which are used regularily in database.
I want to migrate a mysql databases from a old server to a new server ( Redhat ) , can advise what I need to do ,is it just copy all .frm , .MYI & .MYD files to new server will do ? or I need to do export and inport data ?
i need to update my mysql database from 5.0 for 5.1, i have several java application and php application running on that server, without disturbing the setup i need to upgrade the server can someone suggest a method of doing this
I am having a problem restoring a database. Server is Ubuntu 8.04.4 LTS. It appears to wig out at a certain point, when this happens the output on the screen shows;Quote:
Well i have got a problem with connecting to a mysql database using php. I used this package "mysql-noinstall-5.1.44-win32.zip" and extracted it to c:mysql and added c:mysqlin to the PATH variable and used the following command in command prompt to start mysql: c:mysqlinmysqld --standalone
well mysql did start and everything went well accessing mysql in command prompt. Well under the database "mysql" in the table "user" i created a new user "php" with a password="****" and hostname = "localhost" but when i try to access this database with a following php routine:
And when i accesses it with my browser using localtost/test.php, all i get is "localhost" displayed on screen, "Connected to mysql" never gets displayed not i get any error..i am using windows 7(32-bit-ultimate)and mysql 5.1.44.
I am wondering whether it is problematic to let several different programs/php-scripts use the same MySQL-database concurrently, provided that they do not use the same tables?
