View 2 RepliesI just installed Seamonkey, both at home and the radio station. One of the installs was sans e-mail, the other had it, but then it disappeared, before I even got a chance to set it up. (9.10).

There is a "standalone seamonkey-solibs package for RPM, gxine, etc". But after recent upgrades in -current, I can't use rpm without full seamonkey package installed. Can someone revise the contents of seamonkey-solibs and add missing files to it?

And `rpm2txz -nd opera-11.00-1156.i386.rpm` doesn't work as expected without seamonkey package installed.
I am trying to use Skype beta on my acer aspire one with ubuntu 10.10. The video runs brilliantly and i can also here my wife from the other end but she cannot hear me. Apparently something is fishy with my mic input. I tried alsamixer and everything is in unmute. My alsa version is 1.0.23. The only think she hears is a loud hissing noise which is normally my bat voice but she doesnt need to know that. I can record my voice in the sound recorder but nothing comes out in Skype!
View 6 Replies View RelatedSo here's the schedule for 10.04:
April 8th, 2010 - Beta 2 release;
April 22nd, 2010 - Release Candidate;
April 29th, 2010 - Final release of Ubuntu 10.04 LTS.
If I have 10.04 beta 1, could I just continue to update and not have to burn another disk to install? Or do I have to burn the beta 2 and reinstall if I want it?
My update manager still says "updated 3 days ago" and no updates have come through today. Does anyone know if NBR has been automatically updated TODAY from Beta 1?

View 14 Replies View RelatedNo matter which source I have for 11.2, be it CD download, Net download, or commercial DVD reprint, I get to a point in the install where I get error messages about not being able to download a repository....OR...on another machine I can install but the update applet, after installation, shows errors. When queried, it says it cannot find repositories.
On the second machine, I remove the update applet from the installation using yast and then go to zypper and zypper says it cannot find the repositories. Yet, Yast will show the repositories as being in existence.
Before installation the hard drive is wiped clean and is ready for any OS.
I've taken these same installation media to a friend, he has provided a clean drive, and the same problem occurs on his machine no matter which type of installation is tried. (We both use removeable drives - not USBs).
I try to take my errors and my usage out of the problem before I comment on an OS. But I am starting to believe that 11.2 isn't clean and the same but has been ported to 11.3.beta.
I did a "yum install thunderbird" to get the thunderbird emal program. I got a beta version: thunderbird 3 beta 4.Is Fedora so bleeding edge that this should have happened? I have not changed the repositories that the installation of FC11 uses.(I haven't used 3 beta 4 enough to have any complaints about how it works.)

View 12 Replies View RelatedIf I install flash player from yast or from "firefox plugins search", I only install version 10.0.*.*. Now I want to install version 10.1 beta. I downloaded package "flasplayer..." from adobe flash website. Then I extract it and run:
Code:
# nspluginwrapper -v -i ./libflashplayer.so
Install plugin ./libflashplayer.so
into /usr/lib64/browser-plugins/npwrapper.libflashplayer.so
Afterward, I restart firefox and firefox requires install flashplayer . In some tutorials I see " Create symlink plugins to..." after "Install plugin ./libflashplayer.so...". This is bogus because VT-x is enabled in VirtualBox for this vm.

Are there any .DEB downloads of Seamonkey out there? All I can find (at the site) are the source and the installer (as a gzip). I couldn't get it to install using the installer (even with the instructions in the readme), and I'd like to avoid compiling from source, because this is for a college course and I don't feel like I have time to worry about compiling.
(The course calls for an HTML editor, and Seamonkey is one of the suggested programs with an HTML editor.) Since I couldn't get the Linux version of Seamonkey to install from its installer (I think the error message was something about being unable to open a screen), the only solution I knew was to run Windows XP in Virtualbox and download/install/run the Windows version of Seamonkey from there.
I've just updated my system from SuSE 11.2 to 11.4 (I'm using KDE desktop environment) I like to install SeaMonkey myself. I use the installer from the Mozilla site. When I try to run SeaMonkey, this is what happens:
Code:
./seamonkey-bin: error while loading shared libraries: libdbus-glib-1.so.2: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
Where do I get the missing library? I've tried searching for it on the rpmpbone site RPM Search and even they couldn't find it.
I just updated Java and when I checked in my plugins for SeaMonkey, Java is not listed, not even IcedTea. When I looked at FireFox's plugins, the only Java listed was IcedTea.
How can I get SeaMonkey to know that Java is installed? I looked for the 32 bit Java from within YaST but saw none, just the 64 bit.
Anyway, these are the java's installed:
I'm running SuSE 11.4 and my browser of choice is SeaMonkey 2.0.14.
This is a list of my ~/.mozilla/plugins folder:
Code:
I'm currently trying to rebuild the Seamonkey package so as to have only the browser, and not all the remaining cruft like Mail, News, Composer and Dishwasher. I remember having done this for a few years - Netscape also allowed to do that - and it went well. Basically, all you had to do was to replace the --enable-application=suite option by something like --enable-application=browser, and then disable the other apps explicitly with some option like --disable-calendar, --disable-mailnews, --disable-composer, if I remember correctly.
I've tried to rebuild the Seamonkey source with a modified SlackBuild, but to no avail. ./configure --help shows me some options in that direction, but I have yet to find out some magic combination to get it to work. --enable-application=APP doesn't seem to know the browser-only option anymore, and defining various --disable-mailnews and --disable-calendar options results in compilation errors.
I am having problems getting Seamonkey 2 and 2.0.0.1 to run on Slackware 12.2. I have tried the packages for 12.2 in patches/packages/ and the package from the seamonkey website, both with identical results. Seamonkey appears to start, and does appear in the process list, however no windows appear and it uses little memory and no CPU cycles. No messages appear in the console if I start it from there. I have to kill the processes (seamonkey , run-mozilla and seamonkey-bin). I have tried removing my Seamonkey profile, with the same results.
If I try to build the slackbuild I get this error:
Code:
checking for cairo >= 1.8.8 freetype2 fontconfig... Requested 'cairo >= 1.8.8' but version of cairo is 1.6.4
configure: error: Library requirements (cairo >= 1.8.8 freetype2 fontconfig) not met; consider adjusting the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable if your libraries are in a nonstandard prefix so pkg-config can find them.

The version of Cairo I am running is the standard Slackware 12.2 version cairo-1.6.4-i486-1.tgz, which to my knowledge, has never been updated (there is nothing in /patches/packages for it, anyway).
