I was writing a Slackware script to install OggConvert when I realized I could not find a way to install it. So if anyone know the command I would love to hear it. Not just use it, but to install it. I know it is written in python so I hope it can be installed.
If I install the factory release now, can I easily convert my system to a normal 11.3 point release later, after 11.3 is out? If so, how would I do it? (11.2 has an issue that affects me. It's fixed in 11.3 already, so I have to use 11.3 if I'm going to use openSUSE.)
I have Ubuntu 9.04 and just installed Sound Converter. I am trying to convert a bunch of .ogg files to mp3 to play on my iPod and it's not working so well. In the Sound Converter options I have is set to convert to high quality mp3. I choose the folder that the files are in and after a moment (slow laptop) Sound Converter populates, I hit 'convert' and it shows that the conversion completes in two seconds. All that it did was create the new folder structure of artist/album but there is nothing in there. Not sure what I am missing. I used Sound Converter before and it worked fine.
I'm trying to use convert, I have installed the imagemagick. I use this line:convert *.jpg test.pdf but I'm only able to convert to pdf 1 single jpg file, not multiple files at once. When there's more than one file, I get the following error: Segmentation fault
I have a lot of .flac files downloaded from several sites. Most of them come with a .cue file, and the .jpg with the cover, etc. It seems it is the intention of the uploader that one rebuilds the original CDDA. However, if I had a stand-alone CD/DVD player with flac I would hardly see the point of converting the flac to cdda. Furthermore, I could even play the flacs with a software player although, in this case, the audio quality would not be so good due to the noise picked up by the signal from the PC digital circuits.
I've got a couple of boxes (one linux and one Win Vista) that I want to enable the hardware RAID 1 (mirrored drives). I've not worked with RAID before. I don't really know much about RAID, but from what I've gathered from google, it seems like I may have to enable the RAID first in the BIOS and then reinstall. Is that correct or is there a way to enable the onboard RAID without reinstalling? I was hoping to clone the drive with dd and then enable RAID 1 in the bios and viola! Since one of the machines is my parents' (the Vista box), I'd prefer to do something non-destructive. I may just setup a backup mechanism for them where at least they have the data files backed up to the other drive. If I have to reinstall mine (Debian Lenny), I may bite the bullet and do the reinstall.
I am trying to make a liveUSB(my DVD drive run out monthes ago), I use this iso image: openSUSE-11.1-KDE4-Reloaded-LiveCD.x86_64-4.3.1-Build4.1.iso I just cp the file in the iso into the usb, and cp the L : ootx86_64loader*.* into my usb, mv the isolinux.cfg into syslinux and run with syslinux command to install the bootloader. and boot with my usb drive, get Error: .. I installed ubuntu 10.10 using wubi installer, on win 7 64 bit system. how can I migrate from wubi install to standard install. I want to get rid of issues like free disk space and suspend/hibernate not supported in wubi ubuntu. Will LVPM help. I saw on the page it says that it does not supports wubi 10.04. Not sure what version I have, just installed the latest from ubuntu's site.
I wanted to install this package to convert one Unix book into pdf. Since I have not set up the internet in the debian, I download the .deb files in winxp and transfer these files to my pen drive and then access it in the Debian. So I got all the 'depends' packages for the chm2pdf from the Debian Packages site and tried to install. Console was still asking for more dependencies. If I have got all the 'depends' packages which are required for chm2pdf, then why does it give problems ?
Ive been running VirtualBox with a windows XP installation for some time, on an opensuse 11.0 host for some time. Recently, however ive been having issues with suse, and want to take my virtual XP and make it a primary bootable physical partition, on a second disk
I know it can be done, but im not finding how exactly.
What ive tried so far. I've taken VBoxManage terminal tool and converted the VDI to a .img file, and tried to move that to my second physical disk, but it didnt work at all.
After some thinking, I booted to acronis true image within my virtual machine, and cloned the C:/ drive of windows over to my second hard drive. That got me further, but doesn't boot fully. Comes up to windows xp logo, and black screen boot loops.
Ive heard about using vditool to create a .raw file, and then go from there, but im at a loss to find vdi tool
How can i move my virtual machine to a physical, bootable partition on a second drive?
Do I have the convert the int to a string using stringstream then convert the string to a char? or is there a more direct way? Also is there a way to tell the length of a int?
I want to trim an wma file, but audacity does not open it. I assume it opens wav files, so I have to do this conversion first..I know ffmpeg, mencoder or lame could do it. But I'm not so sure about those long operations options, could anyone give me a specific command which can convert mp3 to wav ? thanks in advance.I used to know how to do it, but now when I want to redo I have to google for it again, but this time I could not find the perfect command..
I need to install the hsupa modem driver in my fedora 13. The driver that came with the modem is in deb format (hsupa_i386.deb). I want to convert it into rpm. I used Alien to convert deb to rpm. I followed the instructions given in [URL] when i run the command ./alien.pl -r hsupa_i386.deb, i get the following
[root@anish alien]# ./alien.pl -r hsupa_i836.deb tar: ./usr/sbin/hspa.sh: Cannot change ownership to uid 0: Operation not permitted tar: ./usr/sbin: Cannot change ownership to uid 0, gid 0: Operation not permitted tar: ./usr: Cannot change ownership to uid 0, gid 0: Operation not permitted so on......
I tried the same without being root, then it says alien is not running as root!.
I need this driver to be installed to connect to the internet. Is there any other way to convert it to rpm?, I have attached the deb file here as a zip file (as deb file cannot be attached here!)
My Mac crashed, and the Hd is in trouble, however I have Linux, and no windows or anything. So I took my backup DMG, to install it. However I cannot get it on a disk, and Mac cannot boot. Is there a way to convert it to an ISO, then just use Brasero Disk Burner to regularly burn it onto a DVD+DL?
im running ubuntu 9.10 as my OS on my laptop, i have a copy of windows xp pro and would rather not install a partition.. So i was wondering if it was possible to convert the XP pro install cd to an .ISO image file so i can run windows XP on a virtual machine (virtualbox) if so how do i go about this? I have installed k3b to actually burn the ISO image to a CD but im unsure of a program that can convert the xp to ISO
I just realized I should have posted this in the multimedia forum. I tried to delete it, but did not find an option for that under edit. Hi there - I'm trying to convert an avi file into an ISO that I can burn to DVD. I found a page that gave really good, step by step instructions, on this site:[URL].. But things did not go quite according to plan. When I tried the first step, it said couldn't find any package whose name or description matched "lame-extras". I then got the following output, followed by all the installation stuff:
The following NEW packages will be installed: dvdauthor ffmpeg lame libavdevice52{a} libavfilter0{a} liblzo2-2{a} libmp3lame0{a} libsvga1{a} libxvidcore4{a} mencoder mplayer{a} 0 packages upgraded, 11 newly installed, 0 to remove and 2 not upgraded.
Undaunted, I plowed ahead (what's the worst that could happen?), and went through with the rest of the steps. Finally, I created the dir to do the conversion, cd'ed into it, and ran the script, as instructed, and got the following (the file that I was using was an episode of Entourage, just as a test, as it was the shortest avi file I had):
I'm finally upgrading my 1GB RAM P3-800 fileserver by replacing the motherboard, CPU, and RAM in the otherwise good case. I'm moving to a quad-core AMD-64 CPU and 16GB RAM, and so I figured it'd be worthwhile to switch over to a 64-bit system at the same time (though it'll probably be a little faster either way, which has almost nothing to do with the CPU). But I hate having to reconfigure everything manually.
I did some searches, and there are several threads that say "no, you can't just convert". But why not? This isn't a desktop system, so I don't care about junk like Flash and the latest nVidia drivers. I'm essentially just replacing libc, programs linked against libc, and the kernel. Shouldn't this just be a matter of reinstalling all of the existing packages - which is very much the same thing as changing the distro version? What super mega secret complexity of "larger integers" am I missing?
Using dspspy, I've recorded a number of audio files ending in .rec. Only problem is, it seems the only possible way to play them is through `cat file.rec >> /dev/dsp`. Neither sox, lame or audacity can convert them to another format.Any command-line tools that can? A .wav or .raw would be best. I just can't seem to find any conversion tools.
I want to load data into mysql database,I am having a xls file want to convert it into csv file to do it.I am running the script on apache server, was able to convert and I could see the output file, when I execute the php script in command line, but when I run it on the browser the file is not saved..??? .Whether something has to be configured on apache
