Software :: Generate Online Reports From MYSQL Database?

I work for a not for profit research organisation that works in the clinical sector. Currently I create summary reports for each of our studies that are then made available through our website. These reports are generated from data that is stored in a MYSQL database residing on a RHL Enterprise server. The data analysis however is performed using Microsoft Excel and then I use excel to create the final report pages, which are finally PDF'd.
This approach has served me well however I am currently working to port the data analysis to R and have the analysis performed on the server side. Now I have to consider how to generate reports. Here is my question. Could anyone recommend software that I could use to prepare and review reports generated directly from the data residing in the MYSQL database? I have no experience with this area as my background is in microbiology.

I got the following task from my boss. I have to find out if there is some alternative tool for create reports from Squid except SARG. Now, we use SARG, but my boss told to me, that the main problem of SARG is, that SARG generate huge amount files, which cause problems during migration our servers. He told to me the following condition for change of current tool (SARG):
* standard package of Debian
* generate less amount of files, optimal is to save reports to the database
So I would like to ask you if you know about some tool (I can not find some by google)... and the best would be if you told to me some practical experiences.

I've setup a CentOS apache web server, and loaded a site onto it. The site previously was functioning under windows xp (before I "stepped in") and wamp. What I did was copy the site in /var/www, reconfigure the httpd.conf (DocumentRoot /var/www/site, etc). Although when I try to open the webpage I get this error: Database Error: Unable to connect to the database:The MySQL adapter "mysql" is not available.

I have installed Mysql in Ubuntu 9, for the use of roundcube database.After installing iam getting the error like this
* Stopping MySQL database server mysqld [ OK ]
* Starting MySQL database server mysqld [ OK ]
* Checking for corrupt, not cleanly closed and upgrade needing tables.
So because of this in the roundcube configuration its giving the error message that MYSQL is not installed. So Kindly give me a idea how to solve this.

I'm having problems connecting to the mysql database on my system. I first noticed this when I was trying to set up the program anymeal. I subsequently tried using MySQL Administrator (mysql-admin), but had no luck. It gives my the following feedback:

Browsing some websites I've found a code for online form where a user provides name, number, etc. Everything is created in html/javascript. I'm just wondering whether it's possible to collect this input and present it in a database form so that I'd be able to see who's provided data and all the details they entered.Actually, it doesn't have to be a proper database (it would probably require php/mysql). I want to download some specific information(age of the building, value, square feet, etc.) from a county auditor's website:[url]
For every property in the county and ultimately match it to a .dbf file I already have containing geographic information for each parcel.
The website only displays information for a single address at a time in response to a query form asking for either the parcel ID# or street address. I have a table of all the county's parcel ID#'s and valid addresses-about 350,000 or so of them.
I imagine there must be some way to automatically crawl the website inputting the information from my tables into the form and gathering specific information in some sort of format that could then be matched to corresponding information in my .dbf file.

I am adding inventory control to our online store here at work and I'm not sure of the best approach.Let's say Customer A and Customer B are both looking at the product page for Product X at the same time, and there is only 1 left in stock. What should happen if both click "add to cart" at (more or less) the same time?hould the last Product X get put "on hold" for one of the customers, and then decremented once the sale is complete? Or should the database decrement the product count, and then increment it if the sale doesn't go through successfully?Is it still possible for both to add it to their cart? Are there any mysql features I can use to ensure both cannot purchase the last product?

My existing MySQL database is running on 11.1. I plan to do a fresh install of 11.3 in order to utilize the trimming feature for SSD drives. How should I install my MySQL database to the new version? Do I perform a backup then restore to the new install? Or can I just save the mysql db files to a cd and somehow attach it to the new install?

I recently installed a portable WAMP server on my usb stick. Really nice, I can do some php programming on my girlfriend's windows7 laptop without installing anything on it.I also have a LAMP environnement on my linux computer.When I plug my usb stick on my linux box, I can easily mount -o bind /usbstick/wwwfolder ~/public_html and work on my php script from there.
But my question is, is there a way I could get the database from my usb stick's MySql server, to run on my linux MySql server? So I can modify data base schema from my Linux workstation, doing some INSERTS in some tables, and then plub my usb stick on the laptop and get my up-to-date database running from the portable environnement?I don't know where / how MySql stores its databases. Basically, I want to "mount" the database from the usb stick in my Linux' installed MySql server, without extracting and importing the data, so there is just ONE database used for BOTH environnement.

For some reason in exits the program back to the command prompt. I am using the code from Linux programming 4th edition which you can get it from here...and in the folder ch08/app you will find all you need to create the CD database application.

I am having a problem restoring a database. Server is Ubuntu 8.04.4 LTS. It appears to wig out at a certain point, when this happens the output on the screen shows;Quote:

Well i have got a problem with connecting to a mysql database using php. I used this package "mysql-noinstall-5.1.44-win32.zip" and extracted it to c:mysql and added c:mysqlin to the PATH variable and used the following command in command prompt to start mysql: c:mysqlinmysqld --standalone
well mysql did start and everything went well accessing mysql in command prompt. Well under the database "mysql" in the table "user" i created a new user "php" with a password="****" and hostname = "localhost" but when i try to access this database with a following php routine:
And when i accesses it with my browser using localtost/test.php, all i get is "localhost" displayed on screen, "Connected to mysql" never gets displayed not i get any error..i am using windows 7(32-bit-ultimate)and mysql 5.1.44.

I have created a database which stores students grades for different stages of a project. One of the stages of the project is the specification part. I have a simple bit of html code which is going to be used as the searching facility. I want the user to be able to enter their ID and then it will display only their results. At the moment, it is displaying the results for EVERY student because I cant seem to find the correct syntax for my statement.

I had a problem with my ubuntu installation, but I don't want to get into that...The OS wouldn't load...Now, that I have a ubuntu partition mounted on a live cd, is there a way I can access or backup my database without booting the system? I'm pretty sure the database is stored somewhere, but how can I find it and back it up?

When looking for MySQL GUI, I find many applications which provide a frontend to database management.I am looking for a GUI for database entry, rather than database management, approximating Glom or VFront, but Glom is buggy (and development sluggish) and VFront difficult to get set up.Ideally, I would have my own private (GTK, say) data entry tool, which would look much like an HTML form, with labelled fields for the MySQL columns, Previous/Next buttons, saving the current row and moving you up/down to the next one, radio buttons or drop-down menus for columns with limited entries, etc.Of course, [Tab]-navigation and keyboard shortcuts [Ctrl]+[C], etc., should work as well. (Yes, that is very annoying about Glom, for example.)

I'm using Squid in our company network, to block access to certain websites. Some websites are blocked for all computers, except for a few. These computers are grouped in an ACL, in squid.conf
Since the group contains only a few computers, this is no big deal and it works fine. But now we wish to expand this to more computers and regulate access to certain websites per computer more detailed. This means that the ACL list in squid.conf will grow significantly and I don't think that is a good thing.
The best solution would be to move all the ACL's from squid.conf, into a MySQL database. However, I have no idea how to do that.
As far as I know, I need external_acl_type to do this.
