I want to know is it possible in sendmail to capture / copy mails sent by particular mail id. For mails received on particular mail id i have created a "alias" by which i get copy of all mails received. I am looking for a solution for "SENT" mail.

I renamed my Inbox to Inbox.old and made a new Inbox in evolution. Now mail is working fine. but I want to get my old mails also. Is there any solution to get my mails back ? All my e-mails have been downloaded and it's working good.But then I logged in at mail.live.com and I all my mails were gone!I don't want my mails to store in my PC, no one knows when my hard drive will die or when will I do something stupid that leads to the complete anihilation of all my e-mails. 2. How do I get all my existing Mails in there?
In my gmail a/c I have severel folders.....each with different label.while I configured alpine, I give the path as directed in several know-how in internet and only INBOX is there, with sent mail and saved mails.....no other folders.

I dont understand this last line (I think) it says the mail sent but and quied. Where is he quing, is it on the remort mail relay or in the local machine
I used mailq and mailq -AC both shows 0 entries

View 2 Replies View Relatedi've set up a little mail server ob my private server, using getmail to get the mails from different pop accounts and to send it to maildirs of some virtual users, and i use dovecot as imap server to provide the mails to my clients which are mostly outook 2007. i run getmail as a cronjob which fetches my mails every 2 minutes, anyhow i'd like to run it on demand when a client pushes the send/receive button. is there a way to tell dovecot to run getmail on demand?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm running ASSP on Ubuntu 10.04.1 it's mostly working fine. I have one problem which has been bugging me for some time. I don't want to filter outbound mail, but if I can relay (proxy) my outbound mail through ASSP, then it can automatically add to the whitelist.
As ASSP is a proxy, I need a server to send it to once ASSP receives it. I've tried my ISP, but this failed and they weren't willing to confirm if a connection attempt was received at their end.
Current setup
Inbound
mx -> router -> ASSP -> Exchange 2003
Outbound
Exchange 2003 -> mx
I'd like to setup outbound as either
Exchange 2003 -> ASSP -> <ISP> SMTP relay
Exchange 2003 -> ASSP -> <relay running on Ubuntu eg postfix>
Can anyone help me with troubleshooting steps or a better suggestion for how I can set this up. I'd love to know why my ISP setup didn't work, but I don't know a tool for monitoring IP traffic in Ubuntu SE, in windows I use Wireshark is there any equivalent I can setup for Ubuntu or a tool I can use in windows which will show all traffic, Ubuntu and windows server are on the same netgear switch, not sure it's smart enough to copy all traffic to another port for monitoring.

The --no-preserve and --preserve seemed to be good candidates, except that they should "and" the mode flags, while what I am looking for is something that will "or" them (add +w mode).
More details: I have to import a repository from GIT to Perforce. I want that all Perforce depot files are Read-Only (that is how Perforce was designed), while all other files that were derived/copied from depot files are writable. Currently if a Makefile tries to copy a Read-Only file then the derived file will also be Read-only. This leads to build-errors when cp tries to overwrite Read-Only file second time. Of course the --force is a workaround here but then the derived file is also Read-Only. Also I do not want to mess with "chmod" after each "cp" command - I will do that only as the last resort.

Recommend a good disk copy utility? The utility should be able to not only copy files, but boot sector and everything. So I just need to make a copy, change my BIOS to boot from the new drive and run everything as before.

Mail appear in the Sent folder of Squirrelmail However, the INBOX was still showing no messages when i logged in to the server, i see that mail was delivered in var/mail/info (my username). so, my question is: why mail gets delivered to var/mail and var/spool and squirrelmail is not pickiing it up?

My freebsd installation has worked for quite some time w/o problems.
I'm using ubuntu as a replacement and have tried using the same settings from my previous server.
I keep getting the following error.

I have set up postfix and dovecot as per the Ubuntu anual and appear to have a functioning mail server.Using the sendmail command I can send mail and I receive mail in ~/Maildir. Using Thunderbird I can read any mails received but I can't send any mail from Thunderbird. I have tried with both STARTTLS and SSL/TLS and whilst I get the prompt for a password I keep getting the message my password for my server is wrong.I have ports 25, 465, 587 and 993. Is that all the right ports?When I ping my domain name it resolves to my router name whereas I believe it should resolve to my IP. Could there be a problem with my host file? I've had a play but to no avail.Here's the error in mail.log.
