Software :: Adding Chapter Markers To Videos

Is there any linux video editor that supports adding chapter markers to videos? I tried everything I could get my hands on, including openshot and kdenlive (which last won't run under GNOME, however many kde libs I install, and I don't want to switch to kde4 which I hate), and so far nothing works. I don't understand where the problem is; it's so easy on the Mac. Is there an application comparable to the Mac's GarageBand?
I am not talking about creating music here (though I may in the future), simply about adding chapter markers to videos, which GarageBand does very well and fast. I could go on using GarageBand, which can import .mkv and .avi movies, but eventually I should like to switch over to Ubuntu completely, because maintaining two complete systems including two full sets of backups is very uncomfortable.

I use DeVeDe a lot, and it works great for general conversion and DVD authoring. I don't know, however, how to create a DVD such that each of the original .avi files will be their own chapters. In other words, I have about six or seven .avi files (episodes of a season of a television show) and I want to create a DVD with those episodes that I can navigate separately. Do I first convert each .avi? How then do I create a single DVD with six or seven chapters/episodes?

I could not number formula in Open Office writer relative to a chapter. I would like to numbering like 1.1, 1.2, 1.2. 2.1 etc. Is it possible. I searched in Helps, but doesn't found anything!

Split programming in ns2 marc greis chapter 7 ping protocol code. I tried compiling the above program and got the errors as in error.txt I have attached. Ping.cc and ping.h also are attached. I have supplied all the required header files along with appropriate paths and yet this problem.

This is a generic howto for using command-line tools for backing up your DVD home movies.First, make sure you have the rpmfusion repo installed.The above commands will create an exact duplicate of the video DVD. It will not shrink it or remaster the video files, so you will probably need dual-layer media if you want to burn your backup to disk.A more enterprising individual could very easily create a shell script to automate the process, but you get the picture.

I am unable to play the aforementioned videos. I know for certain mplayer2 supports the 10-bit encode, but whenever I try to play, only a second of audio plays with no video. Instead of video, I get an "Unsupported PixelFormat 72" error. I updated my FFmpeg libraries to 0.8 after that, however nothing has changed and I still get the error. I am currently running Fedora 15.

go into your ubuntu software center and download this thing called Arista Transcoder. Next Download gtkpod with synaptic or apt. It'll probably want some plugins when you initially try to encode a video to mv4. I cannot remember for the life of me which plugin I used, some gstreamer plugins and one of them was an "extra". Anyways, I got pissed off when I found out libfaac and libfaad got canned but was determined to make this work.

I was having trouble opening videos my friends sent through Facebook. It said I need Flash Player upgraded. However, I was able to open videos on utube
So, another tech person (not Ubuntu), told me to go to the terminal and type in"
sudo apt-get remove flash plugin-nonfree
i did that, and now i can't open utube videos, and the other FB videos still don't open.

Here is my problem. Just installed Ubuntu 10.04 with Rivendell radio automation software built in (RRAbuntu). I installed it on an older machine, an HP XT919 (I know it's a bit older, but everything runs fine EXCEPT)...No audio. Audio was fine when I ran the live CD. I first installed Ubuntu 9.04 and had audio, but it kept locking up. I then installed 10.04 with Rivendell. No audio on CD's, no audio on Videos, nothing. I already ran terminal and raised all the levels in alsamixer. What else may be the problem?

I cant get any videos to play on open suse 11.2 with kde 4 ive tried looking in the repos that are standard nothing found, ive searched the forums and closest i found was a similar issue on suse 10.0 that ended in a dead end im not to familiar wiht adding repos on suse

I have XP and Ubuntu on my computer, and the only thing that keeps me using Windows is that I need to view streaming WMV videos for school. I use windows media player for this almost every day, and I also use the play speed settings to speed up the videos to 1.5x.
I tried watching the videos in Ubuntu using VLC, but I keep having trouble navigating through the video, and even pausing and restarting doesn't seem to work right. Is there a program that will do this reliably, or is there a way to get WMP running in ubuntu? I would love to get rid of windows, but all of my lectures are streamed solely in WMV, and I would need to get this working.

I've mostly mp4/flv media files,i need to convert them to mp3 to put in my mp3 player but at the same time i like to adjust the mp3 bitrate to save space and maintain quality sometimes. How do i actually do that in Linux. Is there any GUI program that performs the job for me quickly ?

I cannot see any avi videos with vlc I can just hear the sound of them but, the odd part is that with totem I can see them perfectly. Can any one explain me what I am doing wrong? I got Debian Lenny Stable with Xfce4 Desktop enviroment. I tried to install ubuntu restricted extras and also I tried to install the following codecs:
sudo apt-get install gstreamer0.10-plugins-ugly gstreamer0.10-plugins-bad gstreamer0.10-plugins-bad-multiverse gstreamer0.10-ffmpeg gstreamer0.10-plugins-base gstreamer0.10-plugins-good gstreamer0.10-plugins-ugly gstreamer0.10-ffmpeg gstreamer0.10-gl gstreamer0.10-pitfdll libxine-main1 libxine-extracodecs libquicktime0 libdvdread3
But, the problem is that the codecs named bad and ugly apt cannot find.I got installed divx and xvid codec and also w32codecs.

I have just installed ubuntu on my computer and its been a real good experience until i found that it won't play my videos, do i have to download some sort of codec or plugin (even vlc won't play anything and it usually comes with the codecs pre-installed) i know linux can play my videos i have had them working with my pclinuxos desktop why not ubuntu. i'm using ubuntu 9.04.

I am using Lenny i386 and amd64, have installed flash 10 from abode but cannot watch TED videos. They are working though with other resent distros like mint, mepis, community remix F12,1. Does anybody know what codecs are needed to enable their playback? Unfortunately I could not find anything relative by searching under TED in this forum.

When I try to watch avi videoclips taken with my digital camera (Casio Exilim), sound is ok but video screen only shows filename and green background.
Files are ok, mplayer shows them without errors. Vlc shows other avis than shooted with my camera.

I just install gnash as my default flash player in my fedora 14 KDE. The problem is that it can't view most of the videos in facebook. In ..... in seems to be ok. Any idea how to solve this cuz I don't know what is my problem is as for that I require some guidance here.
