View 2 RepliesLike [Okular-devel]bug report okular started to crash when opening some pdf files after upgrade to kde 4.3.4 I found out that the probelm was not actually in kde but another update - at some point poppler (libpoppler4, libpoppler-qt4-3 and others) was updated to 0.10.1-1.7.1 but okular did not work fine with it any more. I solved the problem by downgrading poppler back to 0.10.1-1.4 (repo-oss) and all pdfs worked fine again. The bug report above states that newer okular would need actually newer poppler (0.12.x) but it is not provided at least for opensuse 11.1 yet.

I am using Kile, to edit LaTeX documents and every time I click on build button Kile opens Okular which shows my .pdf. Problem begins, when I do this multiple times, as Kile opens another Okular for same document everytime I click build button. I end up having 1 pdf opened multiple times and it is getting on my nerves. Is there any way I can make Kile open only 1 Okular window and updates it when I click on build button?
View 4 Replies View RelatedA recent update to Iceweasel 5 (version 5.0-6 ) on my debian (Linux xxxxx 3.0.0-1-amd64 #1 SMP Sun Jul 24 02:24:44 UTC 2011 x86_64 GNU/Linux) led to a rather odd an annoying behavior. Each time I try to open an external file (pdf, odt) or to save a file on the hard drive, then Iceweasel crashes systematically. Does anyone experience the same? Any idea of how to fix this?

I have a Radeon 4850 Graphic Card with ATI Catalyst as its driver, so I try to reinstall the driver hoping that it will fix the problem, which is a bad logic I admit it, and It fails to uninstall (for some reason the uninstall script is gone) and reinstall (problem with file extraction).
having trouble printing an encrypted pdf file (bank statement) using Okular. Have an HP f-2200 printer with HPLIP 3.9.8 CUPS driver. Using Okular 4.3.5
Every time I tried to print this file the print notification would advise printing began and then printing completed. However, nothing was ever printed. Looking at the print queue I can see that the print queue has also stopped and I need to restart this as root.
I was scratching my head for hours and playing with the print driver thinking there was a problem there. However, everything else prints fine.
I then noticed that this pdf doc is encrypted - but that is all the information that okular gives in the properties dialogue.
I installed acroread and was able to print the document right away without problem. Looking at the properties dialogue in acroread it identifies what is allowed and what is not allowed in the encrypted file. It lists "printing" as allowed.
Does Okular struggle with encrypted files as far as printing is concerned? Worth filing a bug report?

I have a strange problem with my browser(s), even Epiphany....when I go to my music site [URL] then log in, go to my page and click on link to play a song the browser Crashes. It never did this before and I dont know what I could have done to cause this. It only does this on this website. Could it be that they use a Quicktime plugin to play the music? I don't know cause I used to be able to play music on there before. It doesnt do this on my Reverbnation site page, just Icompositions. If I click on the icon to restart browser a box comes up saying "we're sorry"...your browser crashed for no apparent reason.....and offers a choice to either reload the page (that repeatedly crashes) or start new session. It isn't a big deal but this never used to happen before. Could it be some bad code on that website?

I had an earlier thread with wrong title and wasn't sure of the problem at the time. Now I have some details after checking all the threads about catalyst so posting a new thread. The problem: In korganizer (or To-Do list in kontact), whenever double-clicking or right-click->Edit.. a To-Do item in the summary list window, it crashes Xorg.

Fatal server error: Caught signal 11 (Segmentation fault). Server aborting I think it has something to do with the amd/ati catalyst driver and korganizer. My video card is XFX Radeon HD5670. I have Fedora 14 x86_64 latest update with xorg 1.9.1-3. I tried catalyst 10.9, 10.10, 10.11, and kernel 2.6.35.6-45.fc14.x86_64, 2.6.35.6-48.fc14.x86_64, 2.6.35.9-64.fc14.x86_64. Same problem.

How can I open a p[ort in slackware? I am "trying" to install and use Alfresco, a DMS that runs on linux platforms. So far that has been a nightmare........
Basically, according to their support tech, port 3306 is blocked. I dont really understand because I have MySQL DB server running and listening to 3306 on that machine and no problems at all... However, they recommended to try:
Code:
telnet localhost 3306
or
Code:
telnet <machinename> 3306
but it resulted in:
Code:
telnet connect to address 127.0.0.1: Connection refused
If I understand correctly , the Alfresco support is correct, 3306 is indeed blocked. But how come mysql is running fine then? How can I unblock this port? And finally, I need to specify that I dont have ANY type of firewall or anything like that because this machine is not connected to the web... So if I dont have a firewall , what is blocking the port?
I am trying to run a minecraft server from my slackware machine, but i am having an issue. The port for minecraft (25565) is open on my router, but it is reported as closed by all the open port check tools. I noticed that the same was happening for my VNC server. the port reports itself as closed until i actually open the vnc server software. for examplei check the vnc port (5900) when the vnc software is not running, and it is reported as closed. nmap localhost gives the following:
Code:
Not shown: 993 closed ports

In the x.org home page, there is a link 'the xorg mailing list'. If I click on this link, then the KMail Account Wizard (window subtitle New account setup) opens and I am compelled to create a new account. But I already have one, and I send and receive mail with this account. Can it be that this behavior is induced by x.org? I don't feel like opening a second account.
Firefox does not open under any circumstances, it's allocated in the memory and has it's process ids, but the browser is not opened at all. There's not terminal output when ran in terminal, no dmesg, debug..., nothing.

lspci shows I have an Nvidia chip: NV6 Vanta/Vanta LT rev 15 Other GUIs, such as Fluxbox, do not crash, so I think the problem may be with KDE, but I am at a loss. Has anyone seen or solved such a problem? I have not posted /var/log/Xorg.0.log because the KDE error message above seems more detailed.
I had been using Amaya on Slackware 13.1 32bit with no problems. I then upgraded to 64 bit, basically because of one program. Now, I cannot run Amaya. It crashes X. In my efforts to solve this I cannot find an X log with entries related to the crash. The console after the crash only shows the last lines of the output. I cannot scroll back to view the source of the errors. Is there a way to redirect error output from an X crash to a file for later analysis?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI just made a current iso and installed current and when I tried to start X the screen was washed out in a rainbow kaleidoscope pattern. I exited out and ran xorgset and Xorg -configure. Both of these hardlocked my system.

I have to go to work, so I will post the logs when I get home
I am running 64-bit current. I have not identified which update started the Dolphin crashes, but it recently has been happening very often, usually within a few seconds of starting it, but not always.
Googling suggested that it might be a dbus issue, so I rolled my own package using dbus-1.4.0 and the slackbuild from the 64 bit current source.
Dolphin has been rock solid since. I noticed that there was an 'allow root globally' patch which I commented out. I am guessing that this may affect applications that I have not used yet or the issue has been fixed in version 1.4.
I have not seen any evidence that other current users have had this problem, but maybe Robby would consider an upgrade?
I'm having an issue with the screensaver activating. It crashes X. It doesn't matter which screensaver I use.
