Server :: Send A Mail From Blackberry Device With A JPEG Attachment, And Have It Forwarded As A Fax To The Recipient Fax Machine?
Apr 25, 2010
I managed to get my hylafax server nice and going, I also setup up AvantFax and Faxy to reach it from the web..What I still want to do it to send a mail from my blackberry device with a JPEG attachment, and have it forwarded as a FAX to the recipient fax machine...
I read and saw a few documentation here and there, but it is very confusing for me...
courier-faxmail seemed nice, but it conflicts with Hylafax..
Hylafax help support is unclear to me...
I'm not sure jpg attachments from blackberry are "standard" jpg, and, I have no idea how to forward this as a fax...
For what I understood, I need to have a running mail agent on my server, and a script to forward this to hylafax..

I run Xubuntu 9.10. I can right click on a file and do 'Send to' - 'Mail Recipient' on any file as long as the file is viewed on Thunar. But I don't have the option 'Send to' when I right click a file on the Desktop.

i am trying to set up a mail server that will support users in a LAN in my school. I am using postfix on a Mandrakelinux distro.
I can send mail when I am root to the other user on my (same) machine both when in command line (mail command) and on Graphical mail client (Kmail ) but the user (sam) cannot send mail to the root account on either interfaces.
I followed the postfix configuration settings on John_Wiley_-_Redhat_Linux_Networking_and_System_Administration_3rd_Edition.

My company email server has been working flawlessly for the last 5+ years. Recently, one of our clients put their email server behind a firewall (an assumption on my part; details below). Ever since, email sent from within the company (192.168.xxx.xxx internal address; all computers and server is behind a NAT firewall [Netgear FVX538]) is either being sent to the client after some delay (if email is sent using Outlook) or is being deferred until the messages expire (Thunderbird, Squirrelmail, etc.). Email sent to the client from anywhere outside the company (using Thunderbird, Outlook or any other email client) is also delivered without any problems (usually after a short delay).
All other emails to the World are being sent without any problems at all (both inside and outside the company; using any email client or webmail). I did contact the client's postmaster, but the client, being a large government agency, will probably not address the problem (if it is on their side) anytime soon. I am not sure if I can do anything from my end to solve the problem. Ever since the problem with the client began, I added two statements to the postfix configuration file (smtp_pix_workaround_delay_time = 20s and smtp_pix_workaround_threshold_time = 0s); this seemed to a bit - it reduced the delay for emails sent via Outlook to a few minutes (as opposed to 30+ minutes); emails sent using Thunderbird/webmail are still being deferred.
Server details: Dual quad-core processor machine, 32 GB RAM, dual 1 gbps network, running Fedora 14 (64-bit; loosely modeled along the lines of Perfect Server (with ISPConfig2) as described on the howtoforge website). Running Postfix (v. 2.7.1), Dovecot (v. 2.0.9).
Postfix details:
alias_database = hash:/etc/aliases
alias_maps = hash:/etc/aliases
body_checks = regexp:/etc/postfix/mbl-body-deny
broken_sasl_auth_clients = yes
command_directory = /usr/sbin
[code]....
I emailed the client's postmaster suggesting they disable smtp fixup. But still, what bothers me now is that Outlook works (both within and outside the company) while Thunderbird, webmail, etc. (used by ~90% of the users) do not. In addition, all email clients from outside the company can send email (authenticated via the company server) to the client without any problems. Is there anything I can do on my end to make non-Outlook clients work within the company (webmail is hosted on the company server; so, it would have an internal address as well)?

I'm having a problem whereby I'm able to send mail to a mailbox from several different email addresses and SMTP servers (gmail, RoadRunner broadband), but I'm unable to send mail to the same address from one particular account, the SMTP server for which runs on a mediaTemple (dv) 3.0 box with CentOS 5 Final.I've spent a full workday on the forums, trying to troubleshoot the issue, and I'm running out of ideas.The server on which I'm having the mail processing problem is a mediaTemple (ve) running Ubuntu 10.04 x64 (Linux 2.6.18-028stab070.7 #1 SMP Fri Oct 1 13:53:00 MSD 2010 x86_64 GNU/Linux), with ISPConfig 3. Here's how I setup the mail-related aspects of the Ubuntu box:
Code:
apt-get install postfix postfix-mysql postfix-doc mysql-client mysql-server openssl getmail4 rkhunter binutils dovecot-imapd dovecot-pop3d

This seems like a relatively simple question, but I haven't been able to figure it out from the documentation after a couple of hours of searching. I'm running postfix on my mail server, and the vast majority of my spam has the sender address spoofed to match the recipient address. I've got spamassassin up and running, and very little gets through that, so it's not a serious problem, but if possible I would like to be able to reject the mail before it arrives to reduce the system load.
Mail is sent locally via webmail, relaying is denied, so the only way that mail should be sent from the domain is via a connection from localhost. The basic idea I'm thinking of is if the MAIL FROM sender claims to be an address at the receiving domain, but is connected from a remote IP, the mail should be rejected.

The scenario: We have an external server that runs HTTP/DB servers for out shop system. Then, there's our local, in-house infrastructure that runs a.. yeah... Exchange 2010. The shop system on the external server needs to send mails to customers (order confirmations, invoices, etc.). seing as sending them directly through the local MTA (Postfix) would cause mail delivery problems because of reverse DNS issues, i've set the Postfix MTA to act as a satellite to our in-house Exchange Server, so the Exchange sends the mail instead, giving recipient mail servers a valid reverse DNS lookup.
Now, mails sent by the (proprietary, uneditable) shop system are relayed correctly and sent to the target e-mail address. My problem is: Mails not sent by the shop system, but by our own PHP scripts which run on that same external servers, are NOT relayed properly. So the Exchange is fine with the mails sent by the shop system, but not the mails sent by our scripts. This is what i get in the mail.log: The successfully relayed mail sent by the shop system:

I am attempting to get mail working on a server, and having some trouble. I'm working with sendmail, and I am to the point where I can send and receive mail on the server (from one user account to another), but I cannot send mail from the machine to somewhere else (specifically a Google Apps GMail account). When I try to send mail to the gmail account, I receive a "Undelivered Mail Returned to Sender" message. I've never managed any sort of mail server, and so far searching the internet hasn't helped me.

I have set up postfix and dovecot as per the Ubuntu anual and appear to have a functioning mail server.Using the sendmail command I can send mail and I receive mail in ~/Maildir. Using Thunderbird I can read any mails received but I can't send any mail from Thunderbird. I have tried with both STARTTLS and SSL/TLS and whilst I get the prompt for a password I keep getting the message my password for my server is wrong.I have ports 25, 465, 587 and 993. Is that all the right ports?When I ping my domain name it resolves to my router name whereas I believe it should resolve to my IP. Could there be a problem with my host file? I've had a play but to no avail.Here's the error in mail.log.
Code:
westwood@westwood-desktop:/etc$ tailf /var/log/mail.log

i basically had this system installed for our mail system.The setup is as follows:
1. Operating system installed is Debian ver. 5.0.3
2. Roundcube is installed as a webmail(if its right for me to say that)
3. The server is hosted right here at our offices
4.The server uses relay system to send mail i.e. relays all our mails to our ISP
That all i can say about the configurations becuase thats as much as i understand it.The problem now is that we are not able to send or recieve emails from both internal and external.I tried to send mail to a collegue in the office who is on our local LAN,Roundcube says sent successfully but the person does not recieve the mail.i tried to send to my yahoo address but nothing.I dont know where these mails have been trapped.

I have a bit of problem setting up sendmail on my server. I've gotten so far that I can send mail from my mail server and relay mail from my LAN computers through it. Also, local delivery seems to be working.The problem is receiving mail from other domains. When I send mail from my gmail account to any user in my domain the mail gets delivered back to gmail as it exceeds the max hop count.The mail gets bounced between my ISP mailserver which I use as smart host and between my server.The problem seems to be that my mail server won't accept any mail it is supposed to receive.

I am running Fedora Core 8 as my mail and proxy server. My mail works properly for all users, but the problem I'm having is that when I create an alias for user's email to be forwarded to their gmail, the ISP bounces the mail. My ISP has given me an open relay to send mail.Is there somewhere in sendmail that I could put the user name and password of the ISP, so that the ISP will not bounce the forwarded mail. Or is there something that I'm missing?

I've just setup a new Ubuntu 10.04 LTS server on linode for myself. Followed an excellent instruction at: here to finish the installation of some basic stuff including postfix.
I am trying to figure out a way to send an email to my gmail address with an attachment, but cannot find how. Already confirmed that email can reach my gmail account.
In the end I have to use mutt to send the email with attachments, probably SendEmails will also do well, but I am wondering how to do the same thing in postfix from command-line?

most canon selphy printers does not work under linux, but i think its possible to send files to a selphy printer via bluetooth. and after recieving the file, it instantly prints the image. my question is, is there a way to send files from a pc to selphy via usb instead of bluetooth. i believe you can use obexftp to send files from pc->selphy and it will instantly print, the problem with this approach is that it takes a lot of time to send the file. if there is a way to use a cable to transfer the files then we could print directly. or is there a cable that somewhat simulates how bluetooth transfers.
