View 1 RepliesI want to configure two node cluster for qmail-toaster?? My idea is.. if one server hardware gets failed it should transfer/migrate service to other qmail-toaster server with all settings like ... domains/users/password etc etc.
View 2 Replies View RelatedMyself and a friend have our own small IT business; we mainly design and build web sites for other small businesses. One of the things we would like to offer to clients is the ability to relay email addressed to their company's domain to their own personal email address (either web-based, or hosted by their ISP).
Now, clearly there is a risk of our mail relay being marked as "open", and therefore becoming black listed as a source of spam. Not something that we want to happen!setting up such a system? I understand how I would go about configuring an MTA like Postfix or Sendmail to perform such a task, but I'm unsure how I would ensure that relayed mail is delivered and we're not labeled as spammers.
I did wonder if perhaps the "mail forwarding" options in a mail server like Zimbra would get around the issue by forwarding on messages inline or as attachments within new emails (so the messages would appear to be from the account hosted on our server).
I have Ubuntu 10.4 Server, it's a local intranet server in back of a router in a "standard" home network. As I understand it laptops, PCs and the server are "hidden" from direct contact with the internet by Network Address Translation [NAT]. The router is a Linksys WRT54G all clients are connected to it, and the router itself is connected to a modem provided by the ISP. The server was given a static IP address. To admin the server I connect from a local client with SSH and get a command-line.
Is there a way to admin the server if I am a thousand miles away from this local network? Putting it another way, Is there a way to "tunnel" through to the server, give the user/pw and get a command-line from the internet? What software or hardware is needed?
I would like to connect to a separate mysql server, yet I can't find any documentation on how to do this. How would one achieve this? I am running qmail on centos4.

I had a problem with qmail-smtpd which didn't want to start, throwing a segfault.
Now, it starts but it doesn't live more than 1 sec. I can send emails but can not receive them.
I did a strace:
I've got a general question : I am using F13 for servers... I planned to use a mailing list now.
1) Which one would you recommend ? Mailman or Majordomo ?
2) I am looking for the possibility to get feedback of the mailing list.. ( Who opened, how many times..etc... )
Does Mailman provide this kind of info? (I didn't find anything on this during my first research). If not, which additional software can do it?
Can anyone recommend a good mailing list software package?
I was using group mail under windows but before I set up a windows machine for this task, I thought I would try to find a linux solution.
I am new to Linux and we want to broadcast an email to every member of our institution. Currently we have more than 150 email addresses and 2 email lists. The mail server is running on Redhat version 5, x86_64/i386

I am aware that there is a qmail-ldap package to have ldap back end for qmail. But I need only user authentication for qmail through ldap (not the backend; i.e still keeping Mysql as the database). I am pretty new to mail server configuration. I have just configured a (q)mail server (which is currently my sand box) and am able send and receive emails. I am planning to add ldap authentication (just that) to it. Can anyone point me to the right direction?

View 5 Replies View RelatedOne of the things that I have found useful in the past are mailing lists which focus on providing a brief description of a new software item, why one would use it, and then the link to use for downloading.
I have reading the sourceforge list for this type of thing, and I have also subscribed in the past to a couple of these types of lists for other platforms. Are there Linux software announcement lists designed to expose a new Linux user to the wonderful software alternatives available to them?
I have seen some lists by some groups where the descriptions are vague or highly technical, covering lists of bug fixes, etc. but seldom actually describing the software itself. The kind of thing I am imagining would be intended for someone new to Linux, providing them enough description to raise their interest into exploring new applications.
Just i want to ask doubts in c programming. I dont know whether this is the right place to ask doubts in c. If this is not a correct place, may i know where can i get help for c programming?is there any active forum or mailing list for c programming?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a web server with LAMP and wordpress on it. I'm going to administer wordpress from a different host on the same LAN as the server (the server doesn't have X and desktop software on it). When you build a site, with wordpress, from a separate admin host what exactly is happening?. Do browser requests from the admin host go to the web server, then out to the Internet, then back to the web server, then the results get displayed back to the browser on the admin host?. Or does it work differently?. Will such a set up work automatically after the installation and basic configuration of LAMP and wordpress on the web server?.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have setup postfix and postfixadmin on a CentOS 5.5 server and the install appears to be ready to go. I have never used postfix and postfixadmin and I am having a hard time finding any documentation on how to setup and administer the postfix server with Postfixadmin. This is simply a test and alerting server and will not be hosting user mailboxes. I am only looking for the basics I am not going to need to setup anything complex
View 1 Replies View RelatedI just installed Webmin on this CentOS 5.5 client and would like to know if it's possible to remotely administer the Squid server. The one I'm using for webmin is different from the one where Squid proxy is running.
How do you set it up and where in Webmin?
One of our client having issue with the qmail. The issue is if any one send email to abc@ourdomain.com (abc@ourdomain.com the email address which is not exist) it should send failure notification i.e."email does not exist" to the sender. The qmail server is not notifying that email address does not exist.

View 1 Replies View Relatedwe have qmail server installed on rhl 9. it was working perfectly fine for last 1 year. suddenly it stopped accepting emails from internet. when i telnet on port 25 it takes about 90 secs to show the SMTP ready state.I have tried many things
1. stopped Reverse DNS Lookup by adding -H to qmail-smtpd/run file
2. stopped spamassing and AV
3. reverified DNS server settings in resolv.conf
4. dig is resolving dns query properly.
i also observed that when i do telnet to
telnet localhost 25 response is very quick
but when i do
telnet local_server_IP_address 25
it takes aprx 90 secs to show me SMTP ready messege.
can someone shed some light on this as what should i do next to rectify this problem..
