I need to execute scp to copy mysql data directory.
Also it is in remote location. Can I recover the data by scp by creating some /etc/passwd , /etc/shadow files ?

We do have phpmyadmin but the user's table is hidden. What SSH command we might run to make localiz_master user have access to all the databases.

Jul 6, 2009When a user logs into my webmail application, it creates entries in a table on MySQL called "identities" which works great however once the user is deleted fro Linux with the "userdel -r" command, the data still sits in MySQL. General :: How To Mount HDD And Copy Data To Server
Apr 12, 2010I have a HDD that cannot be bootup (should be the boot file problem, I want to get back the data in it, so I plug it to another server and trying to copy the data from the failure HDD to this server. Now, the server is re-boot and in maintenance mode as the HDD cannot do the system check. when I try to copy data, it pops the server is read-only system.
1. How to let me write data to the server ; or
2. Let me boot up the server, then I will mount the HDD to it and copy the data to the server.

Feb 15, 2011we've been trying to become a bit more serious about backup. It seems the better way to do MySQL backup is to use the binlog. However, that binlog is huge! We seem to produce something like 10Gb per month. I'd like to copy the backup to somewhere off the server as I don't feel like there is much to be gained by just copying it to somewhere else on the server. I recently made a full backup which after compression amounted to 2.5Gb and took me 6.5 hours to copy to my own computer ... So that solution doesn't seem practical for the binlog backup.Should we rent another server somewhere? Is it possible to find a server like that really cheap? Or is there some other solution? What are other people's MySQL backup practices?

I went about installing it thinking that it would all work. But it seems that I was wrong. So I try to start mysql, and here's what I get:

Feb 22, 2011I've been attempting to set up a LAMP for local web development, which meant installing mysql-server. But now have a problem when trying to run mysql, I get:-
ERROR 2002 (HY000): Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' (2)
When trying to downgrade mysql-server I saw that there are dependency problems between the various modules (but can't recall which). But whichever route I truied the results are always the same.
Thought about trying XAMPP but I note that even has it's problems, is there any way I can get a lamp set up on FC14, or must I give it up as a bad job.
Howver, just been trying to again to fix the problems with downgrading mysql and get:-
