I am new to using OpenLDAP on OpenSUSE with the yast configure tool. I have used Openldap on Fedora before and there was a slapd.conf file that I could modify. It appears that the yast does something different. Anyway I need to find out what the rootdn password is, but I cannot find it since there is no slapd.conf file.

I had configured my php to use sendmail as its mail agent. My server which is centOS 4.6 in this case runs in a lan.
What I need is that when i fire a mail function from php page hosted on my server in LAN, mail should get delivered to gmail or whatever destination address is..
But I am facing problem...When I open my php page which fires the mail, it takes long time to load say 1-2 minute in loading. After that it says Message sent successfully, but message not get delivered.
I had checked sendmail it is running... I also checked spam folder of destination email..

View 4 Replies View Relatedi am running cent 5.1 and would like to upgrade httpd v.2.2.3 to the latest 2.2.11 version provided by apache to resolve some ajp errors i am experiencing.
I searched but did not find any rpms for cent nor did i find any instructions on how to do this.
I have a cent 5.5 server that I only have remote access to. I was wondering if there was a way to view potential updates before I issue the yum update command. I know that there is a notification in X that you can click on and will show you the updates before you actually perform the operation.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI work at a small animation studio with a server box running Cent OS. We have no IT guy... I happen to know a little bit of programming so I got assigned to look after this server box. I'm still in the process of learning basic linux using VMware at home at themoment. There are few things requested from me that are really beyond my knowledge at this time and I really need some advise or pointer to get started.Current set up- We have 2 servers. A windows server 2008 and a Cent OS. They don't work together... They are only acting like a central "hard drives" so to speak.
- Cent OS was a new addition to our team. It was recently requested by our client. They set up RSync for us to get files from over sea and they want our file structure to match theirs.- We have 15 work stations. Not set as domain yet. We boot into Windows 7 for projects stored on windows server, and boot into Fedora for projects stored on Cent OS.What I was asked to do- Centralize user accounts. My boss wants both windows and fedora to log in using the same account. What would be the best approach to do this? We want the accounts to be managed via the Cent OS box. Permission to access hard drives on the server should be controlled as well.- Maximize Rsync. This one is really beyond my knowledge. The Rsync process from our clients sometimes doesn't go through. They want to make sure the process works as smooth as possible.

View 1 Replies View Relatedi have a dell server. its a couple of years old and has a perc 4 raid controller in it. When i do an install it shows the drives configured in the raid 5 configuration. i select the disk and do an auto partition. It goes for about 10min then errors with "error formatting drive volgoup00 the error is serious occurred press enter to reboot" or something like that can remember all the words. It doesn't give any info about the error.
i get the same error on centOs 5.5 and Ubuntu server 10.10
There is a firmware update for the raid controller that i could apply but dell's site was not letting me download it yesterday. Other than that I am not sure what to do. I could try an older version of CentOS 5.4 but i figure someone might tell me how to fix this so i can run the newest version.
I would like to setup a qmail server for learning purposes (if you strongly feel Postfix is better, feel free to let me know). When I started setting up qmail (using Life with qmail), it suggested that having a DNS is the best approach. In the spirit of learning, I decided then to create another server for DNS only, and use that for qmail.
My problem is that, as this is a home installation, the internet is behind a Netgear DG834Gv5 router, on a DSL line that has a dynamic IP address. I am using DynDNS, but also don't mind having to update any DNS entries to keep up with the change, this is not exactly a production-grade setup.
In addition, I also have access to another DNS server where I can create authoritive entries for any domain I register. I have done that for a domain, and would like to point part of that to my home DNS so that I can learn.
So essentially, I would like to have a new zone for home.mydomain.org on my home DNS so that I can create new entries for *.home.mydomain.org such as qmail.home.mydomain.org etc. there.
I assume that this would include port forwarding on the router which is not a problem, but I truly have no clue where to start. I have a very basic install of Cent-OS 5.3 (no X and just Base a few admin and dev tools) and just installed the latest RPM of bind (9.3.x).
I have 2 server behind the netgear router on my network . win2k3 and CentOS development server, I have port forarded 80 to win2k3 server which i can access over the internet and is accessable. However I can SSH CentOS machine and portforwarded 8080 and 82 for web access, I can't access via any of the port, browsers says UNABLE TO CONNECT.. there is no firewall in CentOS machine.
View 1 Replies View Relatedi installed suselinux 11.3 on my lenovo t410 and i am using kde4. since then, i have the following problem: the screen freezes suddenly and the keyboard doesn't work anymore. i can move the mouse cursor, but clicking doesn't work. funny enough, the sound still works. the only way to restart the laptop is by pushing the power button for 10 seconds.
so far, there was no real pattern about the 'when does that happen?'. it happens sometimes when i am surfing on 'innocent' webpages like wikipedia or spiegel.de, not very often while watching videos. once it happened when i was only using kile for latex. it happened while i was experimenting with kdenlive. another time when i opened 2 vcl player in order to watch 2 videos simultanously.
sometimes there are days without trouble, sometimes i have to restart the laptop 5 times (like today...). is there a way to find out what is actually wrong? and how to get rid of the problem? (how do i create a proper bug report of these incidents?)

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a RHEL 5.4 server installed in a server farm. The server is administered under a central AD, which means that administrators are registered in the AD.
However, I have to deploy an application on the linux server, that will use it's own OpenLDAP server. This means that this application will be the client to the LDAP server installed on the same RHEL server.
I tried installing OpenLDAP using yum and it resulted in a very fatal issue. Somehow the configuration files used for finding the Linux server from the AD was overwritten and the Linux server was not reachable anymore.
After some investigations, and possibly, rebuild, the server has been handed over to me.
The problem is how should I install OpenLDAP so that the existing connection to AD is not lost.
On the Linux server I see a /etc/openldap directory but only contains ldap.conf and cacerts directory.
