Server :: Tomcat 6 - Avoid Automatic Webapp Startup?
Apr 13, 2011
I know it might seem a stupid question, but i'm gettin' nuts over avoiding webapp auto startup on Tomcat restart.i have a server, used for developing. Its tomcat has a bunch of webapps deployed. MOst of them are old/kept just for the sake of it, and I would like to avoid TC to start them on start / restart. How do I prevent a context to autostart on service start / restart?
I would like to go in the config files and selectively choose the apps to start. When tomcat is started, if anyone needs an app to be started, i would like to do it from the manager. But when I restart TC, i would like my choices to be up and running only.
to avoid automatic start of this mail server (I use qmail). After several months, I did a reboot and exim is started! Looking at the history, I found this command:
Quote: dpkg-reconfigure exim4-config
Maybe this command has restored the init script of exim?
I am looking for a tomcat startup script on a Ubuntu machine. My Ubuntu is 10.04 server. The tomcat is 5.5.30. It is in /opt/apache-tomcat-5.5.31 I tried a script here
I'm looking for a way to automatically startup Ventrilo when my linuxbox restarts. At the moment I have to manually start it up. I know there is a way and I've tried to follow other threads but I can't seem to find a tutorial on how to do this with the Fedora 12 distro.
I am trying to launch a java web application automatically when the server starts from rc.local. Logged in as root with a console I can call the jar directly "java -jar /apps/web/fitapp.jar &" everything starts no problems. Once I add the same command to rc.local and reboot the webapp fails to start. Re-directing the output shows "Unable to access jarfile fitapp.jar". I've tried setting java environment variables (using in the rc.local, and in root's profile (bash), but that error persists.
I am trying to run my tomcat 5.5 at startup.. I went to System-->Preferences-->Startup applications and entered the command to launch my script: /bin/sh /home/marco/apache-tomcat-5.5/bin/catalina.sh run
But when i restart ubuntu, my tomcat does not run and i dont know where to find the proper logs to see what happened.
Every time I need to start or stop Tomcat, I am navigating to:
/Tomcat_Dir/bin
and once I am in the folder I enter:
./Startup.sh
And to stop the server, I navigate to the same directory and enter:
./Shutdown.sh
I was wondering if there was a way in Linux to alias the above described process, so that from any location in the filesystem, I can simply type in something like
StartTomcat or StopTomcat to perform the Startup and Shutdown of the web-server?
I'm using Ubuntu 10.04 and I have a 1TB NTFS (internal) hard drive where I put all my files. The drive shows up in the "Places" menu, and if I select & open it, the drive and all the scripts & text files in it work. But, if I go to run the scripts without opening the dive in the places menu first, it just gives an error.
1. What is being done when I select the drive in the places menu?
2. Can this be set up automatically, so I don't have to open the drive every time after I start up?
how to set up the Xscreensaver to start automatically, when the KDE starts? I use Mandriva 2008 and every time I log in, the Xscreensaver is off and I have to start it up from the 'run' menu.
I have updated from 10.2 to 11.1. When 11.1 starts I get into the CLI rather than an automatic startup of KDE. I can login at the CLI, then type "startx" to start KDE. I know there is someway to automatically start KDE when the computer boots, but just can't seem to find it. Can someone point me in the right direction? With 10.2 I was able to automatically load KDE as myself as user and would like to have that again in 11.1.
I had some issues with my system hanging on the automatic configuration of the install so I searched the web for the issue. After reading this thread: Hangs at end of SuSe 11 install I used acpi=off apm=off nolapci as the install options and it worked. My question is, do I need to add those options to the /grub/menu.lst or will the install do that?
Can anyone tell me in performance tunning of apache-tomcat and jboss application server?when I deploy some application in apache-tomcat the performance is say 100 users per second and incase of jboss it is even worst (35-40 users per second)i want to improve my performance 1000 uesrs per second..
I have a requirement of using a wildcard certificate for 5 subdomains running under apache httpd server and 1 subdomain under tomcat. Is there any possibility of using the single wildcard certificate both in tomcat and apache
I have one server with Jboss and Tomcat installed, I have to start these servers manually everytime I do reboot the server. How I could do to start Jboss and Tomcat automatically, when I do reboot the server?
I have a machine where I dabble a bit with mono and .NET in my spare time. It's running Jessie and upgraded mono to 3.0.6 from 2.x and MonoDevelop to 4.0.
Rebuilt my webapp after upping the target platform to Mono .NET 4.5 and it works fine in the debugger.
When copying the app to the production folder (on the same machine) it will no longer start and apache's error log says:
Code: Select allSystem.TypeLoadException: Could not load type 'System.Runtime.CompilerServices.ExtensionA ttribute' from assembly 'System.Web'. at Mono.WebServer.VPathToHost.CreateHost (Mono.WebServer.ApplicationServer server, Mono .WebServer.WebSource webSource) [0x00000] in <filename unknown>:0 at Mono.WebServer.ApplicationServer.GetApplicationForPath (System.String vhost, Int32 p ort, System.String path, Boolean defaultToRoot) [0x00000] in <filename unknown>:0 at (wrapper remoting-invoke-with-check) Mono.WebServer.ApplicationServer:GetApplication ForPath (string,int,string,bool)

I understand from posts like this one: [URL] .....
...that Microsoft moved the ExtensionAttribute from System.Core.dll to mscorlib.dll in .NET 4.5. And that a [TypeForwardedTo] attribute is supposed to make this transparent.
I get this - but have no clue to how to make my webapp work? It does so under the debugger so it obviously does some magic.
I've moved a web site from one server to another.I'm also moving the domain name to the new server. In Apache I've got the web site configured up and running with no problems. What I'd like to know if this is possible. I'm wanting to avoid a complete web site rewrite. I've looked into mod_rewrite but I don't think this is right.I only want the web site to look aesthetically pleasing. So if it's not possible so be it. (I'm not a programmer but do have access to the code)
i just want to prevent from now on from all users maybe even root from adding other users to groups like wheel for example. I also want to know how can I prevent from all users to create new groups or add users to new one.real
I am stuck with an issue related to domain hosting. Currently i have an application hosted in my own server using a static ip from a service provider. I got a domain name from another domain provider. Everything went in right way till when i click my url in browser using internet through another system. I am able to see my application when i use my ip address, where as when i use my domain name its not working.
I have used same Hardware and OS platfrom for web server benchmarking and i have used similar php and jsp scripts for Apache and Tomcat. For this testing i have used apache ab benchmarking toolFrom this statistics i would like to clarify the performances about Apache and Tomcat.
1. why Tomcat have taken too much of time to finish this 10 million requests to compare with Apache? 2. why this huge different for "Request per Second"? 3. To Tomcat i have increased multi thread level 300 and JVM memory usage upto 2048mb(but performances not increased), rather than these, is there any other performance tune-up settings for Tomcat? 4. from these statistics, can i come to the conclusion that apache is the best? 5.do u feel that ab tool favouring to Apache?
I'm configuring a web server using Apache and Tomcat. I use Apache 2 and various instances of Tomcat5 and Tomcat6..I try that Apache serves the static data and tomcat the dynamic (Apache receives all requests, sending tomcat only the dynamic)I see that Apache and Tomcat can be connected using http or ajp Can any tell me: - What connector should I use: ajp, http,...? - How can I say Apache to serve the static data and Tomcat the dynamic?Due to I have many instances of Tomcat, connectins http and https, https with client certificates, and due to the port configuration: - Is there any way to configure Apache-tomcat without the use of ports in tomcat (a differect connector)?
we have configured snv in our server but when we tried to access our svn folder from client its saying path not found error. This is because apache is mapped to tomcat so when we tried to access svn by default it looks to some other path and displaying path not found error. My question is how to restrict apache from forwarding its request to tomcat or else how to stop the tomcat service. I am using centos and i tried with /etc/init.d/tomcat5 stop but it is not getting stopped.
I have application (WAR format) deployed on tomcat 5.5. I am able to access application using: "http://my_server_hostname/application_base_directory_name/hello.do" for example. I do not want my users to remember or bookmark the full link "http://my_server_hostname/application_base_name/hello.do"). Is there a way that i could have tomcat host it like a website and i can directly get the index page open by simply typing a url (http://hostname) in the browser? if possible, i would like to do it using tomcat only (no httpd connectors or modules).
I am trying to setup Tomcat on CentOS 5.2,This is that ive done so far...Installed Apache, which works fine and I get the "Apache 2 Test Page powered by CentOS" Did this
