View 5 Replies View RelatedRight now i have a HP DL 180 Server with 130 Gb Hard Disk & 8 Gb ram after Raiding0+1. i want to configure Domain Controller Server for my office for 200 to 300 Users. what should the partition size must be mentioned in my 130 Gb Hard Disk, is that going to be Sufficient for ME ?
i am bit confused about /Usr /Var /Boot partitions, as i need to manage perfectly in 130 GB
if i go with 4 Gb swap and remaining for " / " is that will be fine ? should i need to specify partition sizes separately for / tmp /var / usr ..
can anyone provide the steps for installation and configuration of Nagios server in Redhat Linux machine?

View 1 Replies View RelatedAs the title says, I'm building a kickstart for a RedHat installation.I'm trying to incorporate the firegl driver rpm installation and its halfway working, not completly. What I've tried so far is to place the rpm in the --nochroot and in the normal chroot enviornment and neither one works. In the --nochroot, install it with rpm --root /mnt/sysimage/ and in the normal post i just do an rpm -ivh. In either case the fglrx folder is built within /lib/modules, however everything thats supposed to be installed never makes it to the newly installed root. I'm thinking that its actually getting installed to the installation / as opposed to the new /.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI need to do a project on installing RHEL6 via kick start file in a single DVD. I have made the kick start file and it's ready with the basic parameters like keyboard type, language, firewall and SElinux disabled. How can i boot it in the server. Also please help me in the below steps,
I need to use LVM option for File systems except swap and /boot, how can i mention it in the file?If there is a need to use NIS or LDAP where can i mention it in the file?
I added the "@clustering" and "@kvm" keywords to my ks.cfg file but during installation, an error about not being able to find either of these packages popped up and it wasn't installed.
I do see the Cluster and VT directories in my redhat_es5.4 directory along with the Server directory. The rest of the files install just fine.
In doing some net and forum searching, I find a reference to a base.repo file that lists the directories but I'm not sure if it's related to creating a yum repository or if not, should it have been created in the redhat_es5.4 directory.
While I've built kickstarts for several years and am comfortable with the file, this is the first time I'm working with rpms outside the main Server path.
My Server is Ubuntu 9.10x64 running in a 64bit vmware on a Dell Optiplex 760. I have the Ubuntu amd64 mirror downloaded locally in /var/spool/apt-mirror/mirror/ubuntu.mirror.iweb.ca/
I am not working with any other **buntu flavours.
tftp and dhcp are all working from what i can tell. My client can boot from the PXE, get an IP address, and takes me into the Kickstart loader.
For some reason, it is not reading my ks.cfg. I get the blue screen that says the following: "The installer failed to download a file from the mirror. This may be a problem with the network or with the mirror. You can choose to retry the download, select a different mirror or cancel and choose another installation method.
Downloading a file failed:"
Below I have pasted whatever relevant information I can find pertaining to my issue.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm confronted with a problem and haven't been able to find a solution using Google and the likes. I have created a netinstall image based on CentOS 5.6 with kickstart which works great while pointing to the HTTP / NFS repository in isolinux.cfg like this:Code:label publisherkernel vmlinuz append initrd=initrd.imgks=http://192.168.0.198/kickstart/ks.cfg cdncontentpublisherThe problem however is that the location of the kickstart file and repository/ies might vary and I don't want to create a separate ISO for each and every location.

I don't have access to a CentOS machine or a spare computer and would need to create images for a machine on the other side of the Atlantic.I would need something that would create an absolute minimal CentOS installation. With Ubuntu i used some software which only had an installation procedure or a package for ubuntu. Program's such as Ailerus or Usenet Resource Downloader. What i would like to is this: Since Ubuntu is Debian-based, is it possible that software, intended for Ubuntu, can also be installed under Debian? Or is there a slight difference in structure between debian and ubuntu that makes it almost impossible to add software, intended for Ubuntu, under Debian?

View 1 Replies View RelatedWe are in the process of testing SLES 10 SP1 installation, onto a new system.
Initially the installation got failed at the start giving following error :
"Could not find the SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10 Installation CD. Activating Manual setup program."
What is interesting to notice is , if we use SLES 10 SP2 to boot the system upto the Installation menu and then replace the CD with SLES 10 SP1 media, the installation proceeds as normal without any error.
Not sure that could be the problematic thing over here. Does it mean with SP1 , no cdrom/cd or hard disk gets detected ?
I was trying to mount nfs share in same server
The command
But the same tried in different manner as below

What exactly the problem is?
Does the same would be causing the failure in mouting nfs share /var/ftp/pub on kickstart?
I'm new to here and to linux, having changed over about 2 weeks ago. I've had a lot of trouble installing a variety of software and am really starting to despair and regret changing over. Right way to go about things for the installation processes of any of the following software on opensuse11.4 64-bit (I have tried everything I can to no avail):
Canon ip2700 series drivers
Creative Sound Blaster X-fi drivers
Skype
iTunes
I took the following path: Yast - Hardware - Graphics Card and Monitor; and it gave me message "the configuration is Framebuffer based and your system does not support changes for resolution and/or color settings". I verified my system's(dual boot system) graphics card using windows OS and it showed NVIDIA Quadro FX 570, but in X11 configuration it shows "Card: VESA Framebuffer Graphics" and the Properties tab is not active.
View 1 Replies View RelatedDoes anyone know of a way to tell the CentOS installer -not- to use LVM in a kickstart? We've been using a system that lets us define which particular drives to use during the installation as part of our deployment system. This does not work now that LVM is the 'default' in CentOS. I've looked over the options and I see how to FORCE particular LVM configurations, but I see no way to just turn it off.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI've got a system in place to PXE boot new machines and automatically configuring them via anaconda. It works great.
However, I have a few older machines with no PXE capability that I would like to use a Flash drive or CD-ROM to boot and run the same anaconda config.
I'm running into an issue finding useful documentation on how to create this CD. I've tried mkisofs but it doesn't really give any details on the boot catalog or whatever is needed to make a CD bootable.
