Jun 2, 2010i am using liferay5.2(mysql included in the download pack) on fedora. while liferay is working fine but i cannot connect to mysql.i am getting the error

i didnt find the mysql.sock file in the location /var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock. i cannot find the portal-ext.properties file also to make intial settings.

I created a mysql table using DATE using the date type and the TIME suing time type.but once i loaded this log to table date field shows empty. like following.

Jun 7, 2011I think this goes here, but I'm not sure. I decided that XAMPP had been troublesome enough. MySQL never worked. So I decided to instal the LAMP stack offered by YaST. I went about installing it thinking that it would all work. But it seems that I was wrong. So I try to start mysql, and here's what I get:

Feb 28, 2010I've been doing XHTML/CSS for the past several weeks, and started learning PHP last week (all on windows). Learned how to set up IIS server, mysql and php to be able to do all the work locally. Now, I've got Ubuntu 9.04 on my laptop and want to continue working with the book I have on it, so I can do some of the work when I'm away from home as well. Questions I have are:
1. How to set a server up?
2. SQL? (mysql?)
3. php? How do I check if I already have any of those installed on my system, and if not how to set them up?
4. where would the root system be for the server if I have it, or if not, where will it be?
5. do I refer to it as "localhost" here aswell i.e. [URL]

Feb 22, 2011I've been attempting to set up a LAMP for local web development, which meant installing mysql-server. But now have a problem when trying to run mysql, I get:-
ERROR 2002 (HY000): Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' (2)
When trying to downgrade mysql-server I saw that there are dependency problems between the various modules (but can't recall which). But whichever route I truied the results are always the same.
Thought about trying XAMPP but I note that even has it's problems, is there any way I can get a lamp set up on FC14, or must I give it up as a bad job.
Howver, just been trying to again to fix the problems with downgrading mysql and get:-

I also did the following things: in mysql I typed 'SHOW VARIABLES LIKE '%SOCKET%'', it returned /var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock I typed 'mysql_config --socket' in shell, it returned /var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock I modified /etc/my.cnf file

Apr 11, 2010I've tried /etc/init.d/mysql start, and it actually starts, or at least, it doesn't error out. But when I do pgrep mysql I get nothing, and when I try to login with mysql -p as root, I get
ERROR 2002 (HY000): Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock' (2)
None of my other logins work, either, but since pgrep mysql didn't work, it's clear that MySQL just isn't running. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling mysql-server via apt-get, but I get the same thing. The logs in /var/log/syslog show this:

Apr 7, 2011I am looking for a way to set a default for new users for the akonadi mysql.conf file that is created for each user for the akonadi database. Usually this file contains a inno_db_log_file_size of 64MB. Because of this the database eats up 64MB storage even if its still empty. I would like to decrease this size globally for each "new" user since we have very tight storage restrictions on our NFS home directories now. And 64MB make up already have the quota each user has. So this is to much. where is this default mysql.conf file taken from?
I found hints that there used to be a /usr/share/config/akonadi/mysql-global.conf file that was simply copied but I cannot find such a file on my 11.4 system. It seems things have changed. how akonadis user specific mysql.conf file in ~/.local/share/akonadi/ is generated for a new user? How can I use my own template file here?
