Server :: Cannot Remove Old Ip Address From System
Dec 21, 2010
I have built a CentOS server, as many times before, and have has to move it to a new location/network. I had changed the virtual site that was configured with a virtual ip address on the same nic. I have since removed the virtual nic, checked my host files and network files and nothing now has the old ip address. I had issues I believed caused by dns or ip address so I finally uninstalled Apache. Reinstalled it. I still cannot access the site that was there. I have cleared all the data I can from the Firefox browser such as histoy. However when I go to "http://localhost" it says it cannot connect to the old ip address. WHERE IS THAT BEING SENT FROM??? It's driving me crazy. I really don't want to rebuild the server as there are other things that took some time to get configured.

I dont know for what reason, I started having this message whenever I try to start httpd.
I commented "Listen 443", restarted httpd started correctly.
I issued "lsof -iTCP:443", I get
Quote:
I can not understand where this come from and why. It seems that it is IPV6 protocol which is in fact not enabled on the network card.
Also, I can not find or dont know where 443 is configured apart from ssl.conf or httpd.conf
Today, I have added xrdp applications in order to be able to connect using RDP.

I am using ubuntu 11.04 in my home desktop. Is it necessary that firewall should be active inorder to avoid hack? I heard that we will not be given static ip address, only paid one will get static ip address that can be used for web server implementation. If my system doesnt have static address then can others access my system?

If I have a dnsmasq server and it dished out a IP address that I don't want it to and it still gives it to my machine no matter how many times I restart windows and issue ipconfig /renew|release or enable/disable the adapter, how do I force it to give my windows machine an IP I want it to have?
The only way I've accomplished this in the past is by rebooting my slackware system.

Looks like many people had issues in deleting multiple contacts from evolution-couchdb-ubuntuone address book. I had an issue (on more than one pc, and different ubuntu one accounts) and can't recognize if there are related posts. Something is messed up, but why? The reason why I'm opening a new thread is to ask: is gnome-keyring manager expected to have two entries for couchdb in the default behavior?
I want to erase my address book. After Ctrl+A > Ctrl+D > Yes and no effect, I can't delete single nor multiple contacts. Evolution states:
"Eliminazione del contatto non riuscita. Altro errore"
In Italian that means: Cannot delete the contact. Other error. (Maybe: undefined eror, unexpected error in en localization).

I am tring to get the MAC address from windows xp and remove it from a file on a unix box. This is what I have so far:
getmac | plink.exe -ssh -pw "my pw" -noagent -m commands.txt root@192.168.1.82
commands.txt
cd /root
tr '-' ':' | tr -d '[:blank:]'
now this is what I get
10:9A:CD:5F:04:8ADeviceTcpip_{5A79FE8D:F227:4B91:9459:2701486C5D94}
All I need is the MAC. Everything after Device* is not needed. The file is /var/db/captiveportal_mac.db. The MAC address are listed like this.
MAC1
MAC2

I'm having a problem whereby I'm able to send mail to a mailbox from several different email addresses and SMTP servers (gmail, RoadRunner broadband), but I'm unable to send mail to the same address from one particular account, the SMTP server for which runs on a mediaTemple (dv) 3.0 box with CentOS 5 Final.I've spent a full workday on the forums, trying to troubleshoot the issue, and I'm running out of ideas. The server on which I'm having the mail processing problem is a mediaTemple (ve) running Ubuntu 10.04 x64 (Linux 2.6.18-028stab070.7 #1 SMP Fri Oct 1 13:53:00 MSD 2010 x86_64 GNU/Linux), with ISPConfig 3. Here's how I setup the mail-related aspects of the Ubuntu box:
Code:
apt-get install postfix postfix-mysql postfix-doc mysql-client mysql-server openssl getmail4 rkhunter binutils dovecot-imapd dovecot-pop3d

I have a dual boot: XP and Ubuntu.
When I load XP I have an IP address (shown in ipconfig /all) and www.whatismyip.com of 144.82.192.154
When I load Ubuntu I have an IP address (shown in ifconfig and www.whatismyip.com) of 144.82.193.37
These IP addresses seem to be static since I have an Ethernet connection. I have rebooted several times and get the same addresses in XP and Ubuntu. Why are they different?

Actually i'm using this guideBut i m not sure on how to insert IP addresses on the primary master and secondary master. Should I insert the Ip address that i found when i type ifconfig ? or Should I assign a new IP address.I have set up a webserver, DNS server, File server and mail server on a virtual box. For now, at first, im working with the DNS server or should I work with the web server first?what should I do?

I'm having difficulties mounting an FTP address to my file system automatically during boot. After a bit of research I have discovered a package called curlftpfs, I've installed this package using aptitude and I had no errors.
I've successfully mounted an FTP address manually using curlftpfs at the command line and proved to myself that this is working as it should...However, I can't get this to mount automatically and I am receiving the following error during boot when I try and mount it through /etc/fstab...
Error connecting to ftp: Failed to connect to (IP address of server): Network is unreachable
My research indicates this package should be able to do this.
I'm still a learner when it comes to Linux, but could this be because TCP/IP services are not started at the time of mounting the filesystems? I've tried a continuous ping at this computer whilst it is booting and I don't get a response until after /etc/fstab has been processed. If this is the reason, can I start them these processes earlier?
Another option would be to have a script/command run when the computer boots, but prior to MySQL loading. If this is possible, it would also satisfy my problems.

New CentOS 5.4 system working fine. Sys admins came in and copied the hosts file from one of the servers down to my desktop and ever sincethen machine has been slow (progs take 10-20seconds to load). RunningGnome. Luckily I saved the old hosts file and copied it back and all is now well. But I'd like to understand why, particularly as I will need to change myhostname in the future.
As configured:
/etc/hosts (yes my hostname is "dummyName" that I will need to change later)
127.0.0.1 dummyName localhost.localdomain localhost
