Programming :: Search For Ip Address In File And Remove It
Sep 22, 2009
I have a lot of files in the server with name like checkfile.jsp and in the file has two or three lines with an ip address xxx.xxx.xxx in it. I wish to know if there any command to grep for the i p address and remove itin file but keep the " ", eg "xxx.xxx.xxx"
How to search for a file? I am looking for a file in a directory /shared/domain...This also contains many sub directories..I need a script which will let me know the location of my log file myapps.log.what is the script ?Can it be made in one line ...because I just want to run ...don't want to save the script.
i need to change a binary file, let's say to find and replace username:
find string: "/home/name/bla-bla-bla/ " new string: "/home/anewname/bla-bla-bla/ "
i can do it, for example, in emacs (hexl-mode), but interesting in writing a script instead. it will be much more better for me if i could do it automatically. is there an analog of: sed 's/string1/string2/g' ? P.S. the best way is to recompile the binary files i have, but there are no sources available.
Im trying to read a file in c++ and search for particular character for example if this is a list that I have:
Alice Bob David
[code]....
if the input is D, it should give David, if its B, gives bob. so in this case, meaning it reads the first character of every line. but if possible I want to make this dynamic so the user can specify which character position he is looking for, so in case he is looking for R as character index 3 in all lines, it should give Charlie. but the problem is, it does now recognize , besides, I do not know how to specify the character position in each line.
We're migrating from Tomcat on Linux to Glassfish on Windows and I'm trying to make it easier to find the servlets that we don't currently have implicitly mapped in the Tomcat web.xml files for contexts. What I've done is copy all our contexts to a temp directory and written a script so that I can loop through each context, find the files that are not mapped inside a package then check if the java file is a servlet or not. From there I store each java file that matches, strip off the extension and then search in the context web.xml for a match then output to the screen.
The problem that I'm running into is that I know there are class files that should be returned and yet they are not being displayed. I'm not a Linux guy, so I'm just looking for a little help to see if I'm missing something obvious. I've attached the code for the script below.
Code: # for all contexts for context in `ls "/var/tomcat/temp/script/" | grep -v servletmap.sh` do echo $context # for all java files without a package
I want to know that how can i search for a word in a file and then comment it or delete it. I know this command works.
sed 's/word/#word/'g inputfile > outputfile
But the lines in my input file are as under:
zone "abc.com" { ---- This line can be comment type master; ----- This line repeat again and again in the file file "abc.txt"; allow-query { any; }; -This line repeat again and again in the file };
im tryin to make a tool in visual C++ which will take an input string through a text box, then it will compare tht string with a text file containing data and display the matched results in list box.
I'm wanting to mod some PHP files across a hierarchy and thought I'd drive it with find + grep + xargs
I built up a command line which I was confident would do the job, but now can't save the results.
First I tried this:
Code: find . -name *.php | xargs grep serialize | cut -d: -f1| sort -u | xargs sed -i s/serialize/serialise/g but that didn't work: Code: sed: illegal option -- i so I thought I'd try using Code:
As indicated in the subject, I want to search a text. If the text is present I want to replace it. But if the text is not present, I want to insert it after first line and before last line.
for example we search a file for a certain keyword..is there any application available which will enable us to search for a single keyword in all the files within the folder ?i want to search for a keyword in about 1000 files..if i do it manually it will take loads of time..
Something very handy to do in a Linux shell, is manipulating files and strings - essentially parsing data. Write a utility which will scan in a text file and search and replace strings. We also want to keep track of how many strings we've replaced.
I know that my command would look like this: <utility name> <filename> <stringToSearchFor> <stringToReplaceWith> Code: #!/bin/bash
how to calculate (if possible) the end address of an image file in a flash memory. I'm trying to create a checksum and checkheader function and the info that I got is the file's offset, how many sector it consumes and its size. I kinda need the end address, sad thing is, I don't know how to calculate it.test.img's start address is 0, the size is 0x20000 and consumes 3 sectors.
I use google search in the firefox address bar by pasting [url] in about:config > keyword.URL
But it automatically changes to "chrome://browser-region/locale/region.properties" in some hours or the next day and I cannot search using the address bar. I have to change it back again to make it work. This is really annoying.
I want to search a file for a particular pattern and if pattern found replace the line with new text. i am using awk 'match($0,"pattern") != 0 {print $0} ' filename to check if the pattern exists.how do i get the line number of the pattern and delete that line and replace the line with my new text?
How to remove alternate char from file using shell script? If the file content is "1234567890" the output file should be "24680". sed 's/(.)(.)/2/g' filename Now there may be small modification to generate two alternate byte, what it should be? If the file content is "1234567890" the output file should be "125689".
I'm trying to come up with ideas for a simple way to strip a specific "entry" from a text file.I know tools like sed and perl can remove specific lines from a file but I haven't been able to come up with an elegant way to do my group of lines. In my file, the first "Location" line and the "SVNPath" line should be unique every time... but are they enough to strip out the whole set of the group plus the trailing one line of white space separating each group? Add to this, my file will grow as new entries are added (always appended to the end) but new entries will have the same formatting.
When I try to write email, and enter the first few letters of the recipient in the "to:" box, it sometimes but not always autocompletes. i.e., let's say my contact's name is Frederick, his address is e.g. robertsharry@snotmail.com. I enter Fred or fred or fre, a couple of addresses come in to the autocomplete drop-down, but not his. After searching all over over to find his address by other means, I start to write it in manually only to find that he IS in my address book (and also in recent addresses), listed under Freddie. I know that the word Freddie is not in his actual address, but what is the point of having a search function if you have to remember the address yourself? In other words surely the drop down search should show display names (as well as any other fields)?
On one of my servers, it appears that a bunch of html files got the following code added to it...Quote:[URL]I was going to try to remove this line using grep & sed... as sample grep -lr -e 'apples' *.html | xargs sed -i 's/apples/oranges/g'I can get the grep portion to work...
Code: grep "<script src='http://b.rtbn2.cn/E/J.JS'[>][<]/script[>]" * But not the sed
I a csv-file (A.csv) with a total of 4.600.000 lines. Thats to many and only a few is necessary. I have a txt-file with 150 lines (X.txt) (all lines is dataset from a mainframe and looks like abc.def.123.456. How do I remove lines from A.csv where none of the dataset from x.txt is present?
After a search I've done, all the matches for the respective query remain highlighted and it's annoying. This happens even after I close the respective file (normal behavior?). How to I remove this?
