I have installed apache on my linux server successfully but just found out that i needed to secure my apache server with SSL. When installing apache I didn't do this line:
./configure
--prefix=/srv/webserver/apache2
--enable-ssl <------------------------ didnt do this line
My installation does not have the mod_ssl. How do I activate the SSL on my apache without having to install it all over again?
so i got myself in way over my head too soon with Ubuntu but i really like the OS.. I installed 10.10 on my HP laptop according to the directions on [URL]. Everything went well and I had no problems until I came across a thread about aircrack-ng.. I decided to test how vulnerable my own connection was after getting scared by looking up some how-to videos on ..... that made it look a little to easy. I was having a ton of problems with the injections tests and couldnt get it to work. I was trying to patch my ath5k driver according to some threads i found on this forum and couldn't get it to work. I finally found a thread somewhere about editing the base.c file to fix the driver. Well, being a noob i have no idea what i did but it wasn't good... yep, shake your head.. i deserve it haha.. anyway....
When i rebooted the comp after finishing the editing process it came up with all kinds of errors and brought me to a grub rescue prompt.. Yikes!! luckily i had Ubuntu 10.10 on a usb so i restarted, tried to delete the partition it was on with gparted and then tried to reinstall it.. The installation worked and now I can boot into windows again from the grub loader with no problems, but Ubuntu is all screwy.. Windows connects to the internet and doesn't seem to be phased in the slightest bit but ubuntu won't let me stay connected to any wireless networks and I also get a failed message when i try to activate the nvidia driver in Ubuntu.. Man, did i learn a lesson about getting ahead of myself and trying to bite off more than I can chew! I really love Ubuntu and the open source ideal so I don't want to let this sour me..
At the partition select prompt when I reinstalled ubuntu I selected "partition my drive manually" or something to that effect. Should I have installed it along side windows via the other option? I have a feeling my problem was compounded when i tried to erase the partition Ubuntu was on but now I'm totally lost and I really don't want to screw up my comp any more! I figured it's time to ask for help instead of shooting in the dark searching random threads for a similar experience which may not be similar at all.
Is there a way to repartition everything from windows without losing my data and reinstalling Ubuntu? I didn't have anything worth saving on Ubuntu but i have about 100gb worth of stuff on my windows partition i don't wanna lose! If I forgot to add any necessary information let me know and i'll be happy to provide any info I can.
I am trying to solve a problem where Apache stats aren't displaying correctly in Munin. I've ran through quite a bit of checks and tests regarding Munin setup, but I think my issue is related to Apache, but my skill set there is lacking.

Since I cannot take my server down for a few days, maybe a week until I manage to migrate all the sites to the new machine, I figured I could migrate them one by one. After migrating one, I would somehow tunnel the requests of that name virtual host to my internal machine. When everything is migrated, I would then switch the machines, update ip's and stuff and everything will work just fine.
However I cannot seem to find a way to do this tunneling. is this at all possible? If not, what alternatives do I have?
After install rhel 5.1 is there any way to activate rhn support.because at the time of insatalltion have choosed i will do it later.

I wrote a small script :

in that script I create some alias commands an pipe them to a new shell script (called dojas.sh) however after execution of that script , I do not see the aliases jan1 and jan2 in my terminal. Even if I execute the dojas.sh srcipt manually , I do not see the aliases in the alias output of my terminal. The only way I can make the aliases active is do the following : cat dojas.sh copy and paste the alias rules, and they are active in my session. How can I make sure that I can activate aliases and they are active in my terminal from a script ?
Note : I am not interested in .bashrc file, I want them to be active in my current session.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI installed OpenVPN and gadmin-openvpn-server from the repos and I can't seem to activate the openvpn server in the gui. I have the server certificate generated, and all the information on encryption protocols setup, and accounts named and ready, despite accounts that were already there, such as www-data, bind, ossec, etc being listed. The server log states:
PLUGIN_INIT: could not load plugin shared object /usr/lib/openvpn-pam-auth.so: /usr/lib/openvpn/openvpn-pam-auth.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory.
I want to install MATLAB 2009 on a ubuntu server 10.04 amd64 which has NOT any gui. The installation was successful however when it comes to activate, it says "Could not open display. Exiting.". Here is what I did:
1- ssh -X user@server
2- verified that I can see "xclock" and "xcalc". Yes I can see...
3- cd /mnt ; ./install
4- I can see the GUI wizard since the X11 forward is working. Installation done successfully.
5- cd /opt/Matlab/bin ; ./activate_matlab.sh
it says: Could not open display. Exiting.
I am installing Big Brother on a CentOS 5.2 running the default Apache 2.2.3. When I try to access any web page I get the following error: Forbidden You don't have permission to access /bb/ on this server. Apache/2.2.3 (CentOS) Server at fmsubbnix Port 80 So far I have:
1) Set the Directory options to FollowSymLinks
2) Verified all directory and file permissions are at 755
3) Set permissions temporarily to 777 and received same error so I am assuming the issue is in a config file somewhere
4) in hhtpd.conf verified <Files ~ "^.ht"> is correct
5) verified the "default" directory is correct (/var/www/html)

I have 3 accounts setup on this machine. One is root, one is my own, and one is for my kids. My account and root work fine, but today when I tried to log my kids on, startx fails (it also fails from runlevel4). I have tried creating new accounts and they fail as well. The site loads slow and clicking a link almost freezes the page for a second. Also, the page loads could be much faster. We've been running mysqltuner and have pretty much optimized all slow queries. Is there anything we can do to fine tune the server for faster and more responsive?

i am having a problem of my firewall.
when i activate firewall from my server account users cant login to chat room. the error occured " Connection To Server Failed".
will anybody let me know how can i fix this problem so that i can active my firewall and also users can login.
I recently installed opensuse 11.2 on my laptop which also had windows vista and windows 7, i created a new partition and the installation went smoothly, after i went to boot back into windows 7 i got a blue screen of death, strangely vista boots perfectly.I could just reinstall windows 7 but its a pain to reinstall all my programs and such

I can receive SSH connections but am unable to SSH into another computer.I located the RPM that looks to be what I'd want -- openssh-4.3p2-41.el5_5.1.i386.rpm -- but it refuses to install. RPM gives me the following conflicting messages:
[root@lightning packages]# rpm -i openssh-4.3p2-41.el5_5.1.i386.rpm
package openssh-4.3p2-41.el5_5.1.i386 is already installed

I tried to run it again but it said there was already a key, so I deleted keystore thinking it would regenerate itself. I ran the keytool command again but it says it can't derive the signature algorithm.
Anyway, I've tried to 'sudo apt-get remove sun-java6-jdk' then 'sudo apt-get install sun-java6-jdk' but it doesn't seem to put me back where I was from step 1. 'sudo dpkg-reconfigure' also doesn't seem to fix it. I think if I can completely reinstall jdk then I'll be good, but how?
I just uninstalled, did 'sudo apt-get clean sun-java6-jdk' then installed again. Still get the error:
keytool error: java.lang.Excpetion: Cannot derive signature algorithm

Webmin - Check, ftps-fileZilla - Check, Apache -It Works BUT I cant seam to set up Apache as a named server using Bind DSN. Tried most of the help in the fourms and .....
