Last night I was updating my system and I ran into some dependency errors. It seems like gecko-libs is having problems. here are my yum update results.

[root@atom ~]# uname -a Linux atom 2.6.35.9-64.fc14.i686 #1 SMP Fri Dec 3 12:35:42 UTC 2010 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux [root@atom ~]# [root@atom ~]#
Today i download cheops source code and when i type ./configure returns me this error :
Quote: checking for gnome-config... no checking for gnomeConf.sh file in /usr/local/lib... not found configure: error: Could not find the gnomeConf.sh file that is generated by gnome-libs install Is there any way to install cheops in KDE ? Do you know any solution for this problem ?
I have encounter this problem, one thing i had done is, increase the cache size. But still this problem occur. adibmobile@empatbelas:~$ sudo apt-get check Reading package lists.Error!

I have Ubuntu 11.04 and whenever I install gnome3, I will get an error during the install. Following are the details. "sudo apt-get dist-upgrade". I will always get an error pop-up and a error message in terminal saying "errors were encountered while processing: /var/cache/apt/archives/gnome-session_3.0.1-0ubuntu~build1_all.deb" & "E:sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)" And when I reboot, I will get stuck at the ubuntu splash page and ubuntu will not load.
I'm trying to run Processing with this instructions but when I try to install Jikes I get a dependencies error: HTML Code: Error: Dependency is not satisfiable: j2re1.3|j2sdk1.3|j2re1.4|sun-j2re1.4|sun-j2re1.5|sun-j2sdk1.5 I have Java6 jdk and Java6 jdr installed, what should I do????
I'm not sure if I'm posting in the right section. But when i start the Package Updater it get's a (Error resolving dependencies). The Details in the error are: Missing Dependency: liblzo.so.1 is needed by package mplayer Missing Dependency: libdvdread.so.3 is needed by package lsdvd Missing Dependency: libcucul.so.0 is needed by package mplayer Missing Dependency: libdvdread.so.3 is needed by package gstreamer-plugins-ugly
What do i do? I'm thinking i have to get and install/download these package's but cant find them tried regular searching the web and using Yum. Cant find any of them to install to fix this issue.
installing on linux i try to install VLC and get [user@localhost ~]$ sudo yum install vlc Setting up Install Process Parsing package install arguments Resolving Dependencies
--> Running transaction check ---> Package vlc.i386 0:0.8.7-0.8.fc8 set to be updated --> Processing Dependency: vlc-core = 0.8.7-0.8.fc8 for package: vlc [Code]...
I don't know if this is the right place to do this so I will try. I have noticed a lot of posts around the web with the same problems, so I guess this is something that is common, you think it would be fixed by now but anyways. Almost constantly when I try to install a new package with yum in my system it almost always gives me a dependency error, this is the latest one when I try to install HTOP:
Error: Missing Dependency: rtld(GNU_HASH) is needed by package htop Error: Missing Dependency: libc.so.6(GLIBC_2.4) is needed by package htop
Recently I came across this error while booting up our RHEL 5 server:
Starting send mail:/ user/ sbin/sendmail:error while loading shared libraries libdb-4.3.so cannot open shared object. error-27
sm-client:/ user/ sbin/sendmail:error while loading shared libraries libdb-4.3.so cannot open shared object. error-27
Also, while creating a new squid user, I get the same error: htpasswd /etc/squid/squid_passwd alok
htpasswd: error while loading shared libraries: libdb-4.3.so: cannot open shared object file: Error 27
The libdb-4.3.so file exists in my /usr/lib. When I looked up for error code 27, it says " File too large ". I thought maybe its because of the number of users. But even after removing some duplicate user accounts, I still can't figure out why the error remains.
While i am using yum update am getting an error: Error: Missing Dependency: libgpod.so.0()(64bit) is needed by package rhythmbox-0.11.6-4.el5.x86_64 (installed).
today opensuse 11.4 introduce Firefox 5 update to me (my current version is ff4) but when i click on "apply" to install it, the following error report appeared: a package dependency could not be found, Details: patch:firefox50-upgrade-4806.noarch conflicts with MozillaFirefox-branding-openSUSE.i586 < 5.0-.3.1 provided by MozillaFirefox-branding-openSUSE-5.0-2.1.i586
i installed kernel 2.6.34 to fix my lid closing issue, and that went great. but now when i go to reinstall my broadcom i get this error. Code: Reading package lists... Done Building dependency tree Reading state information... Done bcmwl-kernel-source is already the newest version. 0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 1 not upgraded. 1 not fully installed or removed. I noticed that in Fedora 15 Beta when you choose a minimal install then add ONLY the defaults of the "GNOME Desktop" package, you will get this error: gnome-desktop3-3.0.1-2.fc15.x86_64 has a required package:
system-backgrounds-gnome
When I look for gnome-desktop3-3.0.1-2.fc15.x86_64 it is not on any installation menu list. I prefer gnome, but installed KDE and that worked. Any ideas of getting gnome to work?
I am trying to install gnome-libs package as prereq to install Oracle 10.2 on Red Hat 5. It requires libpng.so.2 while I have libpng.so.3 installed on my system. I tried to do a link: ln -s /usr/lib/libpng.so.3 /usr/lib/libpng.so.2, then run /sbin/ldconfig and rebbot as well but it continues to ask for this library.
I'm trying to install Alsa Player in my CentOS 5.2 using add/remove software. I get the following error:
Missing Dependency: libsndfile.so.1(libsndfile.so.1.0) is needed by package alsaplayer Missing Dependency: libjack.so.0 is needed by package alsaplayer Missing Dependency: libFLAC.so.8 is needed by package alsaplayer Missing Dependency: libsndfile.so.1 is needed by package alsaplayer Missing Dependency: libxosd.so.2 is needed by package alsaplayer Missing Dependency: libid3tag.so.0 is needed by package alsaplayer Missing Dependency: libmad.so.0 is needed by package alsaplayer
When I try to search the depencies using yum (yum search libsndfile), the result is : No Matches found.
Today I got update notification. I type in terminal yum update, and get this error: Quote: Error: Missing Dependency: libnetfilter_conntrack.so.1()(64bit) is needed by package iptstate-2.2.1-5.fc11.x86_64 (installed) You could try using --skip-broken to work around the problem You could try running: package-cleanup --problems package-cleanup --dupes rpm -Va --nofiles --nodigest
I removed iptstate.x86_64, again run yum update, and than, ibnetfilter_conntrack got installed. I tried to install iptstate.x86_64 again, but i get Quote:
I have some issue with QT in ubuntu , almost all QT application I cant use now. If I use Q4wine: q4wine: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/libQtSql.so.4: undefined symbol: _ZN14QObjectPrivate15checkWindowRoleEv
If KGet q4wine: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/libQtSql.so.4: undefined symbol: _ZN14QObjectPrivate15checkWindowRoleEv
SMPlayer smplayer: symbol lookup error: smplayer: undefined symbol: _ZN9QListData7detach3Ev
Like all my QT applications is facing problem, How I can reinstall the qt libs? I am using ubuntu 10.04.
I tried to link my executable program with 2 static libraries using g++. The 2 static libraries have the same function name. I'm expecting a "multiple definition" linking error from the linker, but I did not received.
Code:
//staticLibA.h #ifndef _STATIC_LIBA_HEADER #define _STATIC_LIBA_HEADER int hello(void);
I untared a few libs on the wrong server (that's the when you're supposed to start laughing!) and I corrupted my server. Everytime it boots up, I get the following error:
/sbin/init: relocation error: /lib/tls/libc.so.6: symbol _dl_out_of_memory, version GLIBC_PRIVATE not defined in file ld-linux.so.2 with link time reference. Kernel panic - not syncing. Attempted to kill init!
I can I restore the original libs? I'm running RHEL 2.6.9-42 on a Proliant DL585.

I was attempting to install the package 'gnustep-devel', but the package 'gorm.app' which gnustep-devel depends on is not available. I've checked in Synaptic's Settings->Repositories and I have all repositories enabled, and the package is available via a Debian repository... I'm pretty sure that there's a better place to report it than here, but I don't know where that is.
I've created a package and added package conflicts entry in it's control file(in my case, all the lib-mesa packages). Now each package that depends on lib-mesa cannot be installed. How can i define my package as alternative to lib-mesa, so i can install those packages ? Is there a way i can add my package as an alternative in the package dependencies(the ones that depends on lib-mesa)?
