I am trying to locate the ia32-libs package, no luck. This is for squeeze. Is there a source (for inclusion in sources.list) that serves this package?

Software :: 32bit Program Still Not Running After Installing Ia32-libs On Debian Squeeze

Jun 1, 2011

I have a Debian Squeeze x64 VPS that I have been renting and I'm having some trouble getting the 32bit version of the Ventrilo server to run. I found alot of people with this problem since Ventrilo only has 32bit Linux servers and this solution seems to work for everybody but me. URL...t=798157 Could it be because of a newer version of ia32-libs is not providing a library that is considered obsolete but Ventrilo still needs?

Red Hat :: RHEL6 Have Ia32-libs (or Equivalent)?

Feb 10, 2011

I recently upgraded my RHEL system from 5.5 to 6.0. When I went to install a 32-bit application I got the normal failure for missing 32-bit libs (/lib/ld-linux.so.2: bad ELF interpreter: No such file or directory). With RHEL5, simply installing ia32-libs takes care of this problem.

In this case, a "yum search ia32-libs" shows no such package exits. So either it doesn't exist or I've got a yum config problem (although I can pull x86_64 packages just fine). If it doesn't exist, is there an equivalent package?

Debian Configuration :: Unable To Locate Package Pop3d ?

May 17, 2011

I have some problems to start my dovecot server on Debian 6.0.1 I tried to install it from webmin using "un-used modules" but it was allways the same error: "E: Unable to locate package dovecot-pop3d".

When I tried to install it from console using the commands: apt-get install dovecot-imapd dovecot-pop3d dovecot-common - and there are no problems with dovecot-imapd and dovecot-common, but still the same error with dovecot-pop3d: "E: Unable to locate package dovecot-pop3d".

I did apt-get update ant apt-get upgrade but I'm receiving still the same error when I want to install pop3d.

It's interesting because there were no problems to install and run dovecot server on earlier versions of debian.

I'm trying to install Ruby on Rails on an Ubuntu desktop VM. The network connection works ok but I can't seem to get this to work:

sudo apt-get install ruby1.9.2

I want the latest version of Ruby.

Is this because I haven't enabled some repository or something - I dimly recall having to 'enable universe' before now... but can't remember why or how....

Ubuntu :: Apt-get - Unable To Locate Package Emacs23

Oct 25, 2010

I just changed (not upgraded, I made a clean install on a new hard drive) from 9.10 to 10.10 and I have a serious problem. I just can't install new packages. Neither apt-get nor synaptic can find any package. I either get a "E: Unable to locate package <package_name>", or "E: Package <package_name> has no installation candidate" For example when I type sudo apt-get install emacs23 , I get this output: Quote:

Reading package lists... Done Building dependency tree Reading state information... Done E: Unable to locate package emacs23 And the synaptics package manager only lists the packages I already have. I searched these forums and googled my error message, but I couldn' t find anything helpful. The only thing I know is that this is not a network/proxy problem, I am behind a proxy but I have set the http/https/ftp_proxy environment variables, and I have a working network connection, as I am actually posting from the same computer.

how to update just the updates necessary for apt-get without having to update the 42 MB of, for the moment, pointless updates?
