I want to do this recursively from the directory I am in. but I get this message in response: sed: can't read *.php: No such file or directory sed version is 4.1.2. It's important that I only change *.php files, and do so recursively.

If I type "ls" I get the display of all my files and directories.
If I type "ls -l" I get the display of files and directories.
If I type "ls -a" or "ls -la", the terminal hangs.
Any thoughts? I have tried creating myself a new account and moved all my files over, then changed the ownerships to the new account. However, now the new account is acting the same way.
On RedHat 5 64-bit.I have a group that requires read-only access to the /var directory.I believe someone mentioned SGID and ACL stuff, and I've been researching this solution, but I wanted to check with you all first to ensure there wasn't an easier way to do this. Now, we need a directory underneath to be read-write. Is there a graceful way to make that happen? Like a special mount option to use? I've just installed F11 (x86_64) on my computer. I've been using x86_64 since Fedora 7 and normally I use a manually installed i386 firefox/thunderbird. This time I've tried to do the same using Fireox 3.5b4 but I got many troubles. The last error I got is:

I'm playing with Fedora 12 and can't get GRUB to work. To boot, I've been using GRUB4DOS. While that works fine, I'd like to figure out what's wrong with regular GRUB 0.97. After the initial installation, GRUB came up on reboot, but it was broken -- it couldn't read the config file apparently, and no commands would work correctly. So I attempted to reinstall grub via the grub prompt. No matter what I do, or which hard disk I install GRUB on, I get "Error 18". I tried using the "grub-install" command as well as the prompt, and that did the same thing.
My system here is an ASUS M4A785TD-M EVO mo/bo. I've got four hard drives. Two 1TB SATA drives and a couple of PATA drives (300 and 500GB) on a Si608 controller card. Using the BIOS "BBS" boot menu, I can boot NTLDR and BOOTMGR off active partitions on any of the drives (with proper Boot.ini modifications to handle the change in drive order). GRUB4DOS works as well, and will boot Fedora 12 correctly off any of them (with proper menu.lst ministrations). But GRUB 0.97 that comes with Fedora just refuses to do anything other than say "Error 18".

You may know the Humble Indie Pack 2, which is a set of crossplatform indie video games. There's one game in the bundle that doesn't offer a 64bit build and therefore it fails to load. Of course the 64bit libs for OpenGL and the propitiatory nvidia drivers are installed, but the game asks for the 32bit ones, at least to my understanding. I do know that why can install 32bit libraries on a 64 bit linux system (we do that for the sake of crappy Adobe Flash), but I don't know where to find these libs (searching the repo with keywords like .i586 or ia32 led me nowhere).

I have an external 800GB USB drive I used for storage for both files from Win XP and Suse 9.0.I can read and write my data from Win XP o.k but when I try to write any files from Suse side it gave me 'read only file system' . This drive from Unix is mounted in /media directory with root owner with executable and read only. When I changed to become root and issue chmod 777 'FreeAgent Drive'.I got error chmod: changing permissions of 'FreeAgent Drive':Read only file system.
From unix, reading any file on this drive, using gui application, I can not access the drive at all but I can see all files on the drive using a command with quote (cd /media/'FreeAgent Drive')
