I am currently running RedHat 6.1 Workstation. The Gnome Bluetooth software does not find my Apple Magic Touchpad. What should I do? I tried scanning by doing "hcitool scan". It did not appear to find it. I am using a USB to Bluestem adapter called D-Link DBT-120.

The Bluetooth detects my mouse, but it asks for a "pin" before I can use it. What the heck? I never had to put a pin in to use the mouse on the Mac OS X side. If I can't use my magic mouse, I can't use Kubuntu! I don't have any usb mice around.

I have an HP 6735s laptop that I have connected an Apple Wireless Keyboard and Apple Magic Trackpad to via bluetooth on 11.04.
When I login the keyboard automatically connects via bluetooth (once the gnome-bluetooth applet boots), however, I need to manually go into the applet and click connect for the trackpad. I can then run a script to start touchegg.
How I do set up the trackpad to auto-connect? I am guessing the built-in trackpad on the laptop is overriding it?
I'm running Fedora12 on PS3 and try to use bluetooth keyboard of Apple Wireless Keyboard. bluetooth-properties command works fine and Apple Wireless Keyboard is found and paired correctly then registered. But I can not input any character when I type keyboard. It works file on other Fedora12 on x86 desktop PC. Do I need extra setup for PS3?

I'm having a weird problem. I have a Apple Bluetooth keyboard, which used to work perfectly under Ubuntu. However, I decided to reinstall last week, and to my surprise the keyboard stopped working altogether. Also the gnome Bluetooth applet is crashing all the time. The weird thing is that I can use the keyboard to login, but after that it stops working altogether.
I'm running Ubuntu 10.10, it's up to date. Currently using a 2.6.37 kernel which I compiled myself, but the problem also appears when I run the 2.6.35 ubuntu kernel. There are some bug reports on the internet on crashing gnome applets, but as far as I can tell nobody has the weird keyboard problem.
After a recent upgrade to fedora 15 I am now trying gnome 3 and notice that my touchpad is disabled when gnome starts (works OK at the gdm, then stops after login). Worked find in gnome 2. Where do I look to see what the problem might be

With much help of google I'm getting my hardware and software to work quite well, but I still have some troubles.My first problem is my Synaptics-Touchpad. It is extremely sensitive and I am not able to scroll. Is there any application which allows me to configure it properly? Before CentOS, I've tried openSUSE 11.4, where there was an application especially for configuring synaptics touchpad (dont't remember the name though). In general, the "feeling" of the touchpad was way much better under openSUSE, but I can't define that properly. I have a bluetooth mouse (Dicota Blue Light) conntected to my laptop, which is working fine except for the scroll wheel, which doesn't work at all. How can I activate it?

Also screenlets seems to have fell out of development... I found out, however, that windows now has the magic folder, and didnt even change the name! Now it is a matter of pride. GNOME MUST HAVE A MAGIC FOLDER!

View 5 Replies View RelatedI tried installing and using gsynaptics as well, but that just broke my touchpad (yes, I editted xorg and whatnot) on my Macbook 5.1 (aluminum).Really, my touchpad has been working well by default, but it's far to sensitive and moves around as my palm grazes it during typing (even with the "disable while typing" option turned on). Tapping is so sensitive that I accidentally click things all the time. Yes, I can turn that off... but I LIKE it. I love tapping.At any rate, it seems that ubuntu is ignoring whatever settings I add to the said file and I just want to tweak it a little.

- Pressing the touchpad with one finger, then using another one to move windows around. Now I have to click with one finger, and drag with the same one.
- Four finger swipe for expos.
I recently bought a macbook pro 5,5 (unibody) and I'm running both OSX and Ubuntu 9.10. I love the laptop, but I've been having some issues with the touchpad in karmic.
In OSX, I can keep my thumb on the bottom of the touchpad as if it were a button and operate the rest of the touchpad as normal. With my thumb on the bottom of the pad, I can still click and drag and use two finger scrolling.

If I have a thumb on the touchpad, it always assumes I'm two-finger scrolling. I've tried synclient BottomEdge=600, but it doesn't make any difference.
Is it possible to get the touchpad on a MacbookPro-6,2 to do a right click some how. Feel crippled without it.

First off, even though I have selected "disable touchpad while typing" I still randomly click with my palms when I'm trying to type. Am I missing something here? Also is there any fix for the click and drag issues? Most of what I've read on the forum here is old and the apt-get for the packages mentioned gives me a "file unavailable" error. It's okay when I'm at home but I don't normally bring my bluetooth mouse with me everywhere. If only apple had left the mouse button on here...

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy biggest problem has always been with this touchpad. The fix that I have makes it so that if you click and drag, then release a finger too early, the drag fails. It makes it almost unusable. It is also overly sensitive. I was wondering if anyone has found a solution to this. Right now it is the only thing stopping my migration from Windows.

I have a KeySonic 2.4Ghz Wireless Keyboard with Integrated TouchPad which I am trying to get to work.
Now there are some reviews saying it works straight out the box on Linux. This was almost the case for me.
The keyboard works straight away but the touch pad doesn't work at all not even the mouse buttons

I installed Ubuntu 10.10 on my PowerBook G4 (I think that's powerbook 5,6 but I could be mistaken). Most everything is fine from a function standpoint except for the touchpad/trackpad. Unlike most users who seem to be getting an insensitive touchpad, mine seems to be picking up some interference from an unknown source. The mouse frequently jumps around the screen either horizontally back and forth or sometimes vertically. If I disable the trackpad it seems to stop (at least for a few minutes). Sometimes I can lay my palm flat on the trackpad and it will cause the mouse to stand still also which makes the external mouse usable.
Are there any solutions to this? (I did install the, what is it, gpointing-devices package? The one that provides the GUI for touchpad configuration and that has not helped at all, except that I can use it to periodically disable the trackpad for a temporary fix)
I spent the last hour and a half googling for pointers, reading manpages,and trying synaptics settings to get my touchpad to work like it does in OSX on my unibody macbook pro.I can't find anything that works.What I want: Since my MBP 5,4 doesn't have a dedicated mouse button, I normally rest my thumb on the bottom section of the touchpad.That way I can tap with my thumb while using my index finger to move the pointer.OS X smartly ignores the fact that my thumb is resting on the touchpad,and lets me move the pointer as if my thumb weren't there.I can then use my middle finger for two finger scrolling, and everything magically works
On my nice shiny new install of Ubuntu 9.10, if I have my thumb anywhere on the touchpad, it registers as a two-finger scroll,thus making it impossible to move the pointer while resting my thumb on the touchpad.Even if I disable two-finger scrolling, the cursor will not move with two fingers on the touchpad.A passable solution would be disable two-finger scrolling detection in the lower part of my touchpad, or even disable the lower part of the touchpad completely.A better solution would be to allow me to scroll into the lower portion, but not initiate a two finger scroll from the lower portion.
Synaptics settings that have not worked for me:
AreaBottomEdge: This disables moving the pointer from the bottom section of my touchpad, but does not disable two-finger scrolling from the bottom section. This is essentially the exact opposite of what I want.
BottomEdge: This doesn't seem to have any relation to two-finger scrolling.I haven't been able to get anything useful to come out of setting this.These references haven't helped (although they are interesting):I haven't been able to find any threads discussing this particular issue.

I have a 2.4 Ghz iMac from 2007 with Core II Duo processor and ATi 2600 HD graphics card. I had OSX (SL) and Windows 7 installed earlier. To avoid pressing ALT key to get OSX started, I installed rEFIT which gave me the idea to triple boot system with LINUX. So I repartitioned the system and installed Unity (Ubuntu 11.04) on it. The installation was smooth but somehow bluetooth did not work. I am using the proprietary ATi/AMD driver from Hardware Extra in Unity and the system works great (even 3D cube works fine). I though of upgrading Kernel to 2.6.39.0 but the system gives an error while loading the files.
The error is primarily with flgrx driver. Keeps giving [Fail] result. When I had replaced the proprietary driver with ATi open source driver, I could upgrade the kernel to 3.0. The bluetooth gat "ENABLED" but would not connect to Magic Mouse. Now I have reinstalled the system with 2.6.38.8 Kernel and keeping it simple as the earlier efforts required 6-7 reinstallations of Unity. Please offer solutions if bluetooth can be enabled with present Kernel or how to safely upgrade the kernel without loading the Open souce ATi driver. I have already tried "sudo service bluetooth restart" and it work but I have to do it every time I reboot the system, hence not desired.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm using an Apple bluetooth keyboard, model A1016 the one with a white bottom inside clear plastic. The machine is a Mac Mini (2,1) and I also have an Apple bluetooth mouse. The mouse works fine on Ubuntu 10.04. The keyboard has issues.
When I add the keyboard using the bluetooth applet, I find that I can't assign a specified PIN. I have to use automatic PIN, and then type the random number presented. That works until I reboot the machine.
After reboot the bluetooth applet menu shows both the mouse (connected) and the keyboard (not connected). If I tell it to connect the keyboard, nothing happens. The only thing I can do is delete the keyboard, re-add it, with a new random PIN.
I think my computer must be haunted, as I've so far failed at 3 different ways of installing Maverick on my 2007 aluminium imac! I've written off using a VM, and I'm currently stuck trying to make a dual boot setup.
So I've followed the guide at [URL].. and got as far as rebooting with the CD in, and selecting Ubuntu, but then when everything loads I'm left at the screen where I can select try or install, with no way of selecting either as my mouse (apple bluetooth mighty mouse) and keyboard (apple bluetooth wireless aluminium keyboard) don't seem to be connected. I've got past this point by hitting random keys after booting and selecting the CD - this takes me into a more basic looking menu where the keyboard does still work and I can select install, try etc.
So I can get as far as selecting try, and get a working Ubuntu desktop. However, when the desktop loads, my keyboard and mouse are again not working. By connecting a USB keyboard and mouse, I'm able to get my mouse to pair, using the bluetooth menu and going through the setup. However, I'm stuck trying to get my keyboard to pair.
Going into set up new device and searching initially shows up my keyboard, then it disappears. If I wait it randomly comes back and disappears again. If I click on next whilst it is available, I can get as far as putting in a pin, but when I press enter it says Failed..
Sorry for the rambling post - I basically have 2 questions: 1- Is it expected that bluetooth keyboards and mice won't work during the installation menus? Half my problem is that I don't know what should be working and when (should I have to boot into the trial installation and setup the keyboard and mouse, or should it be set up automatically?).
2- Has anyone else seen the same problem with the apple wireless keyboard failing to pair? I've searched the forums and google, and found lots of people with problems with bluetooth keyboards, but none which seem to match what I'm seeing. I don't know if there's any point in pressing on with the installation using the USB keyboard and mouse in the hope that things will work in the full install, or if they don't work in the trial install then thats my lot.
I upgraded kernel to 3.0.0-0300Cr2 hoping that it would solve bluetooth issues but it did not. Has anyone done the successful installation on iMac and the bluetooth working?
