Red Hat / Fedora :: Error While Compiling With Eclipse - File Truncated
Oct 14, 2010
I get an error while compiling in Eclipse:
*.o: file not recognized: File truncated
I tried to remove all the .obj and .moc folders and make clean but can't solve the problem! Maybe I'm missing something here.

I have set up Eclipse + CDT on an Arch 2010.05 install. I set up an eclipse project and added SDL as a dependency (see below):
Project -> Properties
* -> GCC C++ Compiler -> Preprocessor -> main=SDL_main
* -> GCC C++ Linker -> Libraries -> SDLmain SDL (in that order top to bottom)
* -> GCC C++ Linker -> Libraries -> Library Search Path -> /usr/lib/ (I verified that libSDL.a and libSDLmain.a are there)
This is the code I'm compiling. It's designed to just be a hello world style SDL app to see that everything is working.

I was doing a big backup system this morning (in Ubuntu 10.10) which was taking some time, when there was an urgent task I needed to see to, so I rashly stopped the backup with CTRL-C. Later I found that this left the recipient directory with an input-output problem, so I could not delete the truncated backup file (or any other file in the directory). I tried all sorts of chmod procedures etc., including using the usually very successful RESCUE CD from a USB pen, but nothing seemed to cure the input-output problem.
In the end, in desperation, I copied all the other files into a new directory, and then deleted the original directory from Windows 7. (I use a multiple boot system.) Windows obviously does not observe the same permissions as Linux, and it obeyed without demure! So all is now well.

I am cross compiling a linux kernel for the mips platform. I have installed the tool chain and everything. When i try to build the kernel i get the following error message.
HOSTCC -static scripts/basic/fixdep
scripts/basic/fixdep.c: In function traps
scripts/basic/fixdep.c:377:2: warning: dereferencing type-punned pointer will break strict-aliasing rules
scripts/basic/fixdep.c:379:4: warning: dereferencing type-punned pointer will break strict-aliasing rules
[Code].....
If i set up the toolchain on a fedora 13 machine with the exact same procedure, the cross compilation works fine. I can't figure out how this can be fixed. I am currently considering downgrading to fedora 13 due to this.

I am new to Fedora (I have always used ubuntu in the past), and I am trying to download eclipse. Unfortunately, "sudo yum install eclipse" is returning "no package eclipse available". I think this means that I am missing the correct repo, but I'm not sure which is the right one and don't know how to add it to my repo list for this version. My version of fedora is centos5 based, and my current repo list is the following:

I tried to compile Atheros AR8152 PCI-E Fast Ethernet Controller driver for fedora 13 64 bit kernel version is 2.6.34.7-56.fc13.x86_64. I have installed kernel source , kernel header and necessary all things to compile it. (linux-firmware-20100806-4.fc13.noarch also installed). I tried AR81Family-linux-v1.0.1.13 source from Atheros web site.
But when I try to make it it give following error.
Code: Makefile:173: *** *** Aborting the build. ***
This driver is not supported on kernel versions older than 2.4.0. Stop. It is not compiling issue because I compiled and installed broadcom wireless driver.
Makefile is attached here (renamed as Makefile.txt -> Makefile)

I have installed a copy Fedora core 10 with the Eclipse C++ CDT feature. I am getting the following error when I do a project build for the "HelloWorld.cpp" Eclipse sample program: make: *** [HelloWorld.o] error 127
I am somewhat certain it is caused by an improper or incomplete configuration of Eclipse C++ CDT. Can anyone provide detailed instructions for configuring the Eclipse C++ CDT?

I installed eclipse galileo a long time back and used pydev plug-in for development. i wanted to install the java plug-in for but could not install it. My friend gave me his eclipse folder (eclipse helios) which contained the java plug-ins, i thought copying those plug-ins to the /usr/lib/eclipse/plugins directory and assumed that it would work. though it did, but my eclipse galileo was now eclipse helios and took really very long time to startup. I completely removed the eclipse and other dependencies using synaptic. (also deleted all the plug-in files from the /usr/lib/elcipse/plugin directory). I reinstalled eclipse and now on starting eclipse i get the following error. the error msg tells me to view the error log file in the /usr/lib/eclipse/configuration/xxxxxx.log

I have been using Eclipse to program in Java for a long time, and have been using Jigloo for most of my GUI design. Recently I decided to try out the C/C++ plugin. I tried installing it, but it did not work. After many attempts, I finally gave up. However, after uninstalling it I found that Jigloo had stopped working. Any other plugins I try to install now also don't work. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling plugins, and reinstalling eclipse, but nothing I have done fixes it. Although eclipse says that the software has been installed, nothing shows up in the features list or the plugins list.
Another problem: When I install eclipse from the repositories, it doesn't install a bunch of libraries and eclipse cannot recognize standard java files.

I know Zend stands behind PHP and that Eclipse is a popular open source IDE. What is the difference tho?Is the PDT Project only a functionality that could be added to Eclipse IDE? Is Zend for Eclipse a stand alone IDE for PHP? if so, Why the Eclipse in the name? I have downloaded Zend Studio for Eclipse, so far it seems very complete (no that have learned how to use all its features).

I created a quick makefile with the following lines:
Code:
$(BINARY):
echo "----- Linking $(BINARY)----"
gcc -m32 -g src/* -Iinclude -I$(HOME)/include -I$(HOME)/include2 -D_LINUX -DSYSV -DPOSIX -L$(HOME)/shared/lib32 -lidlib -lid2lib -o bin/sampleapp
echo "---- done ----"
It builds fine when I build from the command line ( make -f sample.mk).
However, it does not build when building from eclipse (which essentially calling the same makefile). The make output shows exactly the same as what I got from the command line build, except the last line showing
Code:
collect2: cannot find 'ld'
make: *** [sampleapp] Error 1
I am not sure why it tries to call "ld" when building from eclipse.

An error occured during running a code. I've made run configurations properly and I've chosen GNU Elf parser,Elf parser, Mach-O parser and Cygwin PE parser as a binary parser. Eclipse CDT can not find any error in the code and code runs in terminal properly. Here are the code:
Code:
/*
* pmutex.c
*
* Created on: Mar 7, 2010
*/
#include <stdio.h>
[Code]...
Eclipse denies to run it.I've made an investigation over the eclipse.org, but I can not find any solution.

I have a recently installed Ubuntu Karmic with standard packages. I enabled automatic security updates and manually updated every package once. I have the root account enabled. At ~1am GMT my .bash_history file for the root account has been truncated to zero. I think the PC may have crashed (no keyboard, mouse, etc, but still some HD activity) at around this time. The disk isn't full, but this is a fresh install, I do not have direct net access (NAT) and I have only visited a limited number of web sites.
