Programming :: Perl: How To Do A Foreach For Elements In A Database

Jul 15, 2009

For Perl I need to understand a few things. It's unlikely that anyone will be able to give me direct answers but if they could point outI'm trying to hack down an existing script http://eoylpac.org/source/eoy.pl. What I need to be able to do (in a nut shell):1. Open a database2. Read the values for each uniq id and execute a subroutine for each of those values. (The subroutine already exists in the above file 'do_pdf').

General :: Ubuntu - Rename Home Folder Structure To System Language?

Oct 14, 2010

I have installed the Ubuntu distro first in Portuguese. Then, I decided I wanted the English language. I would like that the default folders like "Desktop" and "Documents" were renamed to this names, instead of staying in their Portuguese equivalent.

I can not guarantee this, but I am almost certain I did successfully convert the folder names from Portuguese to English on a previous install when I decided to change the language. So, I suppose this is possible.

Ubuntu :: Support For Language While Keeping English As Language Used To Display Desktop?

Mar 5, 2011

I have some music in another language, but when I open the songs in Banshee, their song names just come up as weird characters (like μ).I went to [System --> Administration --> Language Support] and installed support for that language, but the songs still come up like μ. (But in Nautilus, their proper names show).

I know the solution is to change my whole system language to that language, but I don't want to do that, as I am not very fluent in it. Is there any way to enable support for that language while keeping English as the language used to display my desktop?

How do you set up the system so that each user can select their system language when they login?

Fedora :: IPod Directory Structure Not Found ?

Oct 12, 2009

I am using GTKPOD to add music and sync my Ipod touch. I have gtkpod up and running and I have gone through the initial steps of changing the repo and selecting my ipod touch. But now when I try to "load ipod" i am receiving an error stating that the IPOD directory structure not found.

I have changed the repo so that is ipod mount point: /mnt

But after selecting load ipod;

Could not find iPod directory structure at '/mnt'.

If you are sure that the iPod is properly mounted at '/mnt', it may not be initialized for use. In this case, gtkpod can initialize it for you.

Do you want to create the directory structure now? >>>Create Directory Structure

Following this message; Warning

The following has occured:

Error initialising iPod: Problem creating iPod

How do i create the iPod Directory Structure that it is asking for?

Fedora Installation :: F15 Error 16:Inconsistent Filesystem Structure?

Jun 21, 2011

I have two computers, a HP DX2250 with dual SATA drives and a HP D530 with 1 EIDE drive and 1 SATA drive. On each computer Windows XP Pro is installed on the first drive and Fedora is installed on the second drive. I have had no problems installing and running Fedora 15 on the the DX2250.

My persistent problem lies with the D530. I have installed Fedora 15 on the SATA drive several times. I used the Fedora live cd and I have used PreUpgrade. Every install results in the Error 16: message occurring during boot and ending with a Grub prompt. I have even unplugged the EIDE drive during Fedora boot and still get the problem. I might also add: the machine hard drive boot is controlled via F10 and changing the drive controller order. I have installed and used Fedora on both machines from Fedora 11 thru Fedora 14 with no problems. This error is new with Fedora 15. My next attempt is to install Fedora 15 on the SATA drive with the EIDE drive unplugged. All ideas or SWAG guesses are welcome.

Is there a way to create the destination directories dynamically based on what is specified in the file above?

General :: Mounting Fedora ISO DVD And Then Copy The Full DVD Structure Locally

Sep 16, 2011

I need to recreate in a local folder called /distro/fedora/ the full directory tree (including eventually hidden files, symlinks, etc.) contained in the .iso file just downloaded (Fedora-15-i686-Live-Desktop.iso).

I understand I can mount the ISO image using something like this:

mount -ro loop /path/to/image.iso /mnt

but then, which would be the best way to get a copy exact of what I see underneath /mnt in to /distro/fedora ?

cp, tar, clobber?

Ubuntu :: Switch Back To /usr/bin/perl After Installing Second Perl?

Aug 14, 2010

I recently reinstalled the B module for perl. Now I found out it didn't just do that, it installed a whole new copy of perl into /usr/local/bin/perl. When I type 'which perl' at the terminal, it says '/usr/local/bin/perl' instead of '/usr/bin/perl'. Normally, this wouldn't bother me. But I installed the one in local/bin without threading support. The one that comes with the system already is build with threading support, which is why I want to switch back to the system perl, and possibly remove the one in /usr/local/bin.

So how do I change it so that the result of 'which perl' returns as '/usr/bin/perl'? And what do I have to do to remove /usr/local/bin/perl?

The reason I need threading support is because I'm designing a file copier that copies several chunks of a file simultaneously to speed up the copying process. Guaranteed a useful script if it works.

Iwant to install Catalyst and before install as required I have to check if make, gcc and perl-devel are installed in my system. make and gcc are installed. But I have to install perl-devel. First I searched for make, gcc and perl-devel in YAST Software Management and search did not find perl-devel. I visited the software.opensuse.org and wrote "perl-devel" and searched. The result was many similar zips with a prefix perl-devel and I can not choose one for needed perl-devel.

And this is how Eclipse Aptana RadRails look on a netbook: [URL] UI takes up to 70% of screen space, and the IDE is barely usable now. On Windows it looks like [URL] I tried some gnome themes but they all are of the same size. Is there any way how I can reduce the size at least for the whole system (nautilus etc)? If there is a way how I can apply 'nanoized' theming for desired applications only.
