Red Hat / Fedora :: 4.4.6-1 Needed By Libgfortran2 Install
Jun 16, 2011
I am trying to install libgfortran2 and I keep on getting this error:
Code: error: Failed dependencies:
rpmlib(PayloadIsLzma) <= 4.4.6-1 is needed by libgfortran2-4.2.3-6mnb2.x86_64
When I run this command: Code: rpm -i libgfortran2-4.2.3-6mnb2.x86_64.rpm
Whenever I boot up Fedora 15 on Virtual Box, I get the message " gnome 3 could not load " and I installed all the packages needed to install Guest Additions, but even when I mounted the file, the ONLY file I could find online that was VMBoxGuestAdditions.iso or something like that, I mounted it, I tried installing, but nope, it gives me an error message that it can't. I have the latest version of VirtualBox and I've been on several forums and looked at many places but I can't fix it. I also have a problem where when I boot it up it says " the system is optimized to support 32 bit but it is currently 64 bit go here and click this to fix it " or something like that. and I can't figure out how to fix it in Virtual Box.
Sorry if it is a dumb question (i'm coming from deb/ubuntu and i'm totally new to rpm - installed Smeegol on a Samsung N150). After some try&error i finally got my Broadcom4313 working but underway to that i got lots of new kernels and now i don't understand not so much anymore.
I think the kernel default-devel it was me installing it using the distribution manager to get working make (for trying to install the original Broadcom driver package; i stopped that attempt because i didn't where exactly to move/cp the built driver).
How to REMOVE a password when it appears when I install a program or when I want to start my DSL connection or anything to install.I think that named 'sudo password but i don't know for sure :S
How many disks are required to get Centos 5 up and running.? It has been awhile since I've done an install but I use to use just the first three disks, with the rest being the manuals and such.
when ever i try to install updates i get shown an error & the updates stop the error i get says "librpmio.so.0 is needed by package abrt-1.0.3-1.fc12.i686 (updates) librpm.so.0 is needed by package abrt-1.0.3-1.fc12.i686 (updates)"
My openSUSE 11.2 system has periodic running of fsck disabled for ext4 filesystems (Maximum mount count = -1, Check interval = 0). What is the reason for this? Is it because fsck is not necessary on a periodic basis with ext4, and only necessary when errors are detected? Or is it because fsck has problems working on ext4 filesystems?
The ext3 filesystems do have it set (Maximum mount count = 500, Check interval = 5184000 (2 months)). I would like to know why fsck is not set to be activated for ext4.
I'm running 11.3 KDE 64bit I've installed Google-chrome browser, but it's unstable the crashes when trying to send attachments in Gmail How do I install Chromium-browser? What repo is needed in Yast? I've installed it on my Mandriva box and its much more stable

I'm using F14 (preupgrade has an unhandled exception) x86_64 version with Gnome desktop, and I think after some updates I'm unable to go directly between app toolbar to os toolbar and vice versa. For example, I can start opera fine. Once it's started, I'm not able to change tabs or basically do anything in opera, but I can still access the window tabs on the bottom (OS or buttons on top). I need to right click somewhere on the OS, and then go into opera to use mouse there.
Once I do that, then I can't access the OS buttons, (switch windows/screen on bottom, volume controls on top, open new apps) until I right click somewhere in opera. It seems like there's a right focus button that is stuck somewhere. I'm not sure which recent upgrade caused it (if it was an upgrade), as it was working fine for a long time before. Keyboard shortcuts are ok though. It seems to be a gnome problem, as when I logged into KDE desktop it is ok.
I just recently upgraded my computer from fedora 11 => 12.After moving /home to a separate partition the installation was very simpel.I only had to reconnect my windows system.BUT a strange problem has started to appear.
1) Booting to grub is no problem at all ( I have configured grub to be able to select windows if I want) 2) I always see the grub count down on my screen. 3) then there is a lot of discaccesses but the screen with the fedora symbol is not seen and then my monitor goes to sleep. 4) I usually(always) have to turn my computer off and try again at least three times before the screen with the fedora-sign is seen. 5) If the fedora-sign lights up I have no problem with login and use of the computer.
There seems to be a very unstable situation between grub and XwindowsHas anyone a solution or at least a explanation?
I'm a bit of a newbie with regards to Linux so please bear with me. Basically I've got a problem with frequent hard drive unloads (first diagnosed by hard disk clicking whilst idle)So I need to adjust my advanced power management settings using hdparm to fix the issue. Indeed, following the instructions I temporarily fixed the problem by issuing the command.Again should i create a blank text file using gnomesu gedit and name it disk in the above folder (and then copying the stuff given in the link)?
I'm taking a class this semester on Linux and a Fedora 13 DVD came with the book. Just now I've installed Fedora at home and started the updates. I saw a PAE entry in the updates so I went to the Terminal and typed uname -r and I see that the Fedora 13 DVD installed a PAE kernel on my machine that has only 1 GB of RAM.
Why did it do that?
Can I swap out the PAE kernel for a non-PAE kernel? (edit- I'm a Linux noob so I don't know)
Does it really matter?
After the updates I was going to try to install the proprietary Nvidia driver.
where to get the character set that includes this character "〪" and the install instructions (if any) Needed font file name is ARIALUNI.TTF owned by MS
I can't find a Yum command to clean up no longer needed dependencies, you know similar to apt-get autoremove. Or does yum do this with the erase or remove command? btw: yum-clean-all just flushes out the cache right?
When I try to create a network tunnel, I get ioctl: no such device returned by the terminal. Which modules do I need to ad with insmod to enable tunneling?
I'm new to fedora, but had installed it once before on machines for my class. I am now trying to install fedora on my PC at home, but every time I run the disk and chose install from the main screen all I get is a bunch of text and then it says "Fixing recursive fault but reboot is needed"
What are the bare minimum configuration files that would be needed to rebuild a RHEL server? We are thinking about creating a generic base image and then just copying over the necessary files (fstab, hosts, networking, etc) to get a failed system back up and running in the least amount of time possible. I am fairly new to Linux and have suggested that we have a share on a redundant server that is /server_configs/Svr_name/*.* (names are subject to change and *.* would be all of the pertinent config files to make a fresh build customized enough to emulate the failed server). Is this even possible and/or plausible?

I want to setup a Linux Fedora based Anti-Virus & Anti-Spam Server on my LAN. I have more than 60 Windows users with Proxy Squid running on LAN. Our Email server is hosted on the Internet. Because of virus/spam generate problem, emails are worst affected & the users have a lot of problem on Email, as the outlook gives error. It happens when a PC generates Spam & our IP gets blocked by the ISP for some time. Thats why I want to setup an Anti VIRUS/SPAM Firewall on my LAN (before the Squid), so these spams do not go past the Internet Gateway.Hope u guys understand my problem & suggest some useful links, software & documentations.

I am on OpenSuSE 11.0 running Firefox 3.0. I want to upgrade Firefox to 3.5 or 3.6 but all I can find in /pub/opensuse/repositories/mozilla/openSUSE_11.0/x86_64 is MozillaFirefox-3.6.0-1.2.x86, or MozillaFirefox-branding-openSUSE 3.5-3.9.x86.
When I try to install MozillaFirefox-branding-openSUSE 3.5-3.9.x86 I am told I need to install Firefox 3.5 because of failed dependencies. I have looked around on the internet for an RPM for this version but can't find it. telling me where I can find the correct RPM to install, or advise me with other instructions to wean my old 11.0 system of the old Firefox?
By the way I can not upgrade this system to 11.1 or 11.2 because it is a production machine. However, I debug on this machine using Firebug and I would just like to bring these two tools up to date.
I've been working to get gcc up and running on a new install of Fedora 13. glibc-devel had dependencies upon installation where it required glibc and glibc-common, both 2.12.1-3. No problem, found both at rpm dot pbone dot net. However, when I try to install the following circular dependency results... it doesn't matter the order of install.
Code:
[root AT localhost gcc_install]# rpm -ivh glibc-common-2.12.1-3.x86_64 .rpm error: Failed dependencies: glibc = 2.12.1-3 is needed by glibc-common-2.12.1-3.x86_64
