Programming :: Write A Script That Will Do A Whois On A Domain?
Jan 11, 2010
I am trying to write a script that will do a whois on a domain but only print out the email addresses and if there is not one listed than say something like "No Address on file" or something. Does anyone have any ideas on how to do that?
What I have been trying to do is something like: whois iamned.com | grep "Tech Email" > file -v
I have a server which runs postfix. The same physical server is running web and mail services for several (3) domains, which I have reserved for future use (nothing serious or valuable, just freetime activities). Server "physical" address (also static IP) is myhost.domain.com. Lets say the other domains it serves are first.fi, second.net ad third.com. I can receive mails OK sent to all of these, I have added those 3 "extra" domains to the mydestination line in main.cf. Sending e-mails also works fine, but the sender is [URL].. I want the sender to be firstname@first.fi
I tried setting sender_canonical_maps = hash:/etc/postfix/sender_canonical in main.cf, and sender_canonical contains:
and I run postmap /etc/postfix/sender_canonical, and e-started postfix. But if I send e-mail as user1, the sender becomes [URl].. so it re-writed the username part, but hot the hostname/domain part. I also tried setting smtp_generic_maps = hash:/etc/postfix/generic but the results were similar. What do I need to do to re-write sender for user1 (regardless of host/domain) to Firstname1@first.fi?
I used the Fedora 12 LiveCD to install Fedora on my lappy. Earlier today I tried to use the whois command. Failed both as user and root. Now I tried to 'yum install whois' and look for it in Add/Remove Software app. Nothing...
I have also looked for whois in /bin and /sbin. I am now at the moment out of ideas.
I keep finding packets that appear to be whois on port 44. they appear to originate from me to whois.arin.net (2 packets each time) and 199.212.0.43 (also 2 packets each time) when I put 199.212.0.43 in the URL box it says "Failure To Connect To Web Server". when I whois it it says:
Quote:
Available at [url] And yes, I did get the same packets when I used whois. Why is my computer randomly whoising stuff?
way to remove open-whois.org as an rbl from /usr/share/spamassassin/50_scores.cf/usr/share/spamassassin/72_active.cfIt's creating a lot of false positives on a mail server i am using with ubuntu. i noticed only ubuntu lucid is using updated spamassassin 3.3.1 and all others are using 3.2.5i was on spamassassin's website and noticed this issue has been resolved on spamassassin 3.3.1 but not 3.2.5i tried looking in those files but they are too complicated for me to understand.i am assuming they manually have to be removed.can anyone help with the open-whois.org rbl removal from mail servers as it is currently squatted and creating false positives?
Does a firewall exist, that shows "whois" info for ALL new connections that are attempted? Or even better, "smartwhois" info?New connections meaning, connections to IP blocks never connected to before. So you go to a site that belongs to owner A, and if an attempt is covertly made to connect to another site that belongs to owner B, an alert is shown and you choose if you trust this owner.
I just started messing around in Linux programming, and I wanted to create a simple test program to open a file, read to it, and write to it. I can open and read it, but write always gives errno = EBADF. I've messed with file creation permissions and I can figure out why write() thinks it's a bad file descriptor but not read().Here is my code:
I need to write a GUI for the web to gather the following info:
Username Password SomePlainText Path1 PathN
Of course, I then need an 'submit' button. I then want to have the user upload all paths supplied from their machine to my server. I hope to work with this data as arguments for a bash script. Also, I need to work with all possible client OSes consistently. What language should be used?
Can you offer me the code about fmod() in C. I want to know how this function work, i am very interested in it because i have no idea to implement it, i want to know... how to write the function... not 'how to use the function' can anyone post the source codes of this function here?
I've been working at learning how to write makefiles and I'm a bit stuck.
I've got a fairly simple project that will eventually be a framework for TCP/IP Communications in evolutionary algorithms that I've been using Eclipse to develop.
For personal development I want to learn how to write makefiles by hand but have gotten kind of stuck
Here is the makefile as it stands now:
Code:
Port and Mailbox are a virtual class and a template class respectively.
I get these errors when I run make:
Code:
So for some reason every single function in the Connection class has been defined multiple times. I assume because it's included as a dependency for multiple targets, but I've seen this in numerous examples that apparently work.
Everything in libpthread is undefined because I'm not linking in the library. I've tried adding the library options to the LDFLAGS variable but that doesn't seem to work either.
I want to learn to write an USB driver on linux 2.6.x I tried to find some documents but i could not find documents for it . Most of it gave direct driver code as reference.
I am trying to write a gui app with python2.6.4 and wx on win XP. I am attempting to resize an image with Imagemagick from within the program using os.popen and os.system in a thread.
Code: os.popen("mogrify -resize " + str(x) + "x" + str(y) + "!" + " images/static/" + my_ref + ".gif") orCode: os.system("mogrify -resize " + str(x) + "x" + str(y) + "!" + " images/static/" + my_ref + ".gif") they both work as far as resizing the image but when os.system is used a command shell opens during the mogrify and when os.popen is used the command shell does not show but the rest of the program freezes until mogrify is done.
I would prefer that the program did not freeze during this process and the command shell did not show.I have tried using wx to scale the image but the scaled image looks crappy.anyway is there a way to use os.system and not have the shell show?
I'm trying to write a toy linux shell. For starters this is what I'm trying to do:
1. Start a new process with fork.
2. Execute a program in the new process with execl().
3. Redirect the output from the new process from STDOUT to another file descriptor, using dup2(2).
4. In the parent process, read the output from the child process and write it to the screen.
Creating a new process and executing a program in it is no problems, the problem is that I can't seem to capture the output from it in the parent process.
I was wondering if there is any way to enable an MS Windows client that is otherwise unable of joining a domain to join a domain controlled by (open)SUSE? Is that inability only for joining a Windows based domain but a client that runs XP Home Edition or similar domain- incapable version of Windows could join a domain if it was controlled by Linux?Pardon my newbie style, but answer doesn't have to be detailed step-by-step, just yes/no answer with some pointers would do. I am not new to linux but new to network services... search engines weren't friendly when asked this question at the search bar...
iam using centos5.2.configured qmail, vpopmail. while adding domain form vadddomain<domain.co.in> At first time domain folder get created in domains directory.and also postmaster user also get created by default. And also in mysql. Now the problem is after some times or rebooting system domain get erased automatic.also in /var/qmail/users/assign file domain name get erased.
I manage to write apr4sens into file, works fine. But how to write it into array, which I could later reshape and so on. I tryied like this group=apr4sens. It doesn't work.
I am trying to write a CMakeList.txt for a project (A). The project needs to use the library of another project (B). For gcc, using -L <path> -ldl works. How can I convert that into cmake file? I tried include_directories, that doesn't seem to work
I want to know how to write a script that would use the standard Linux FTP command to download all the mp3 files from a FTP server cause GET *.mp3 doesn't work. Also how would I write the same script but as a batch file to be run in windows cmd through the windows native FTP command?
I have source code that plays video stream, and can open a remote video file if provided with a URL. But I have a problem getting video from ...... the URLs I get look like:
[URL]
and my code expects something like [URL] I need to modify the code, such that it will find the actual file.
Of course, it's Windows only, and XP only at that. However, the data that needs transferred between the device and the computer should be fairly basic, unless it offloads a lot of processing to the computer. I'm not a programmer, nor do I play one on TV, but I have written some fairly complicated microcontroller programs and some basic Java GUIs. Besides writing the actual code, how hard is it to do whatever needs done to make a Linux device driver, apart from the code to make the device work?
