Program in CSay I have a char array of 1024 bytes called buf1.But I only want to print the chars in index 0 up to index 30. I know I could do this with a for loop. But is there any other way? What about maybe storing from 31-1024 to another char array say buf2 with strcpy and somehow popping 31+ out of the buf1 char array?

Programming in C.I have two char arrays.char buf1[1024];char buf2[1024];Aren't buf1 and buf2 also pointers?I read in 1024 bytes into buf1 which contain about 300 bytes of characters with newlines. The data is basically a few English sentences. I'm trying to scan buf1 for newlines and then stop at the 1st newline and copy the rest of the data from that 1st newline into buf2.So I run a for loop to look for that new line.

When I deal with an array in a function I con not access to the content of array in a for loop, but out of a for loop I can access to them! for example

In a function when I send as parameter, in a for loop it prints the content of array and out of a for loop it prints the address of arr[i]

So I need everything between each name, but I am not guaranteed that each time I match a name that I will have the same amount of lines, so I do a range pattern search line this to get all lines, no matter if there is 5 or 10 or 15. I simply do a loop that goes through the whole array until I hit the match, and this is my search pattern.

This works perfectly... until I hit the end and it doesn't get its final pattern match because it's at the end and there is no next entry with a (Address) line. So as a 'hack', I ended up inserting a final scalar at the end of the array that just says (Address) so it knows it's at the end. Ideally though, I'd like to do an "or" statement that says search for Address || return true if I hit the end of the array. How would I match on "End Of Array" essentially?
I need to know how to assign a result from a select. I am clueless on the sytax. I am trying this in bash. Maybe I am not assigning the array right. It gives me the whole row in the echo instead of just field a. How do I get fieldA = a in the select. Note script was stripped for security on database info but the syntax is same.

I'm trying to write a bash script that will read fields from a .csv file into an array, the first field being an identifiyng number and the second field being a corresponding url. There are about 1600 of these number/url combinations in the .csv file that i'm reading from. Once that is done i want it to parse a text file and match the number, when it has a match i want it to enter the corresponding url into a particular line in the text file. The script I have written (with the help of the people on this forum a while back) does this well, but now I have a lot more data to parse. I think the script itself is explanatory enough to see what i'm doing. What i would like to do is cut it down to one while loop nested inside another loop so that I don't have 1600 or so elif statements. I can't figure out how to increment the output of the array. for instance, the first cycle would find the number that matches ${record1[2]} and input the url stored in ${record1[3]}. the next cycle would match ${record1[4]} and input the url in ${record1[5]}, and so on, does that make sense? The code is below and a sample .csv and text file are attached.

From a file I want to extract a range of lines by patterns. I've used variations on

So, I want to extract lines starting from one whose first word is specified, in this case "BashNotes", and ending at the first line consisting of the single word "EndOf...", which in this case would be "EndOfBashNotes".
Either I get no output at all, or it prints from the start of file to the first EndOf..., so the problem has to be with "^BashNotes", e.g. remove the "^" and it accesses an earlier occurrence of "BashNotes" that is in the middle of the first line of the file, and prints to the first occurrence of "EndOf...".
So why should a "^" in the "from" pattern be objectionable, when it is acceptable in the "to" pattern and the "quit" statement?

Line 43 points at the snprintf() command.I think the error has to do with the function being virtual and the const after the function definition, however although I have been looking really hard I have not being able to find the reason nor the solution to the problem.
One workaround that I know is moving the block of source withing the virtual function, in the constructor, however having read around (boost library exceptions tutorials) it specifically said that formating of errors messages should not take place withing the construction of objects because we are risking throwing an exceptions and messing up the flow order.

If there is no IP-adress filled in, then the script must ping the subnet where the system is logged on. So if my ip is 192.168.1.6, then the script must ping from 192.168.1.1 till 192.168.1.255 Or else, if there is given a beginning and ending ip it must ping that!
The first part of the bash script is to ping a given range (see below). But there is one problem, how can I tell the script to ping from $begin till $end, [..] is of course wrong! But what must be filled in there???

I've modified a program to show * instead of letters when typing a password. I'm trying to make it so that when pressing backspace a * will be removed.Here's a rough example. The problem is that when trying to do this in the real program,' is not recognized as backspace.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm writing the Diffie-Hellman key exchange system using GMP to handle big integers. For the most part, everything works. I can convert the string to mpz_t, set up the keys and everything, and encrypt it fine. Its the decrypting I'm having issues with. What I'm using is mpz_xor() for both. To encrypt I'm doing mpz_xor(buffer, mpz_of_text, secret_key), and to decrypt I'm doing mpz_xor(buffer, mpz_of_cipher, secret_key).
For one character, it semi-works...it'll decrypt it fine, but it'll return it as it's ASCII value (i.e.: if I encrypt "A", it'll decrypt it as 65). Which, I can easily just do sprintf(decrypted_buffer, "%c", 65) for example and be fine. But, when I'm sending text bigger than one character, the encryption for AB gives me something like 1061043 after running the decrypting xor on it.
Has anyone ever done this before or can point me in some directions? Perhaps other algorithms to try? I know XOR isn't the most secure encryption method to use, but at the time I wasn't sure what else to use. I'm really just having a hard time trying to convert a mpz_t to a character string. I've looked at mpz_get_str() and it works before running encryption (i.e.: using mpz_set_str() to create a mpz of a string, then calling mpz_get_str() to change it back). Maybe my XOR method is wrong? Here's the code I'm using:
