Programming :: Perl - Save An E-mail Attachment On Disk Keeping The "&" Character - No "%26"
Feb 25, 2010I'm working on a Perl script that handles e-mails and attachments using MIME::Tools.
This script saves the attachments on filesystem, but whenever it finds an "&" (ampersand) into the filename (the filename is given by the "path" method of the "MIME::Body" class), it is changed into "%26" and then stored on disk.
To make an example, if an attachment is named "You & me.pdf", it is saved on disk as "You %26 me.pdf".
I also tried to change that char with a regexp and setting again the path passing the new (and working) value as a parameter to the "path" method, and if I print the value it is right, but on the filesystem is *always* stored with the "%26" string.

Sep 6, 2011Recently I setup a system for a non-technical user. He is only using Firefox, Pidgin and OpenOffice for about 2 hours a day. I have created a folder "/home/jim/myFiles" where he can save his document files. But Jim has accidentally deleted his myFiles folder on 2 occasions. He had intended to delete a file in that folder. Is there a way to lock the folder so that the user and create/read/write documents in that folder but not delete the folder itself?

CentOS 5 Server :: Postfix Save Mail Before Relying It To Exchange?
Jan 29, 2010I have postfix setup right now and it's relying mail to our Exchange server fine. What i would like to do though is have postfix save the email that gets passed through so that if a manager deletes an email, it's easy to look through by date and find the email he's looking for. Well, I'm thinking it would be a lot easier then having to need to pull out the backup tape and try to recover one email. Does anyone know whether I would be able to accomplish this?

I try to use gedit or quanta to save a file to /var/www/
Which is where the test index.php is located but I don't have the correct permissions! I am logged in as the same user I installed ubunutu under which should give me all the rights I need.
I need to give myself permission to write into this folder?

Mar 28, 2011I been using linux for a while, but I havent had the time to really learn it. Something Id like to get more familiar with is bash so here is a simple example of something I would like to do:
I have a directory full of files. For each file in the directory create a new subdirectory with each files name.
I tried this:
#im already in this directory
aaa=./*
for a in $aaa
do mkdir $a
done
One of the problems is that there are spaces () and - in the filenames so I get many subfolders with names like "-" which i don't want.
I tried stuff like:
aaa=./*
for a in $aaa
do mkdir "'"$a"'"
done
This of course also did not work.
Additional I tried just creating a folder with the name of one of the files and I got this:
mkdir: cannot create directory `(audio) - R56339.EXE': File exists
Well yeah a file exsists with that name, but I want to create a folder- why is there a conflict?
Just to be clear here are the contents of this folder:
~/Desktop/LAB/Media/Drivers - (Image Deployment)/Optiplex_GX260/XP> ls
(audio) - R56339.EXE (NIC-Onboard-Intel) - R54402.EXE
(Modem-datafax-V92) - R54403.EXE OEM_Applications

General :: Thunderbird 3.1.1.10, Not Finding Sent E-mail In Send Folder Any More
Jul 12, 2011Using Thunderbird 3.1.10 and no longer can see copies of my sent messages in the Sent Folder. I tried to tick the box in account settings to save a copy and it would not take the change. What I did notice is that the e-mails sent are being received on the other end, but I do not have a copy in the Sent folder. It seems as though my e-mail account has been hijacked, and I changed my e-mail account password as a precaution. I am also getting e-mail BACK in my in box that I sent to other people. My AT&T account uses yahoo and my account through AT&T was originally bellsouth.net What can I do to make sure I get a copy of all of my e-mail sent out?

Jun 4, 2010I'm using Mozilla Thunderbird 3.0.4 with Ubuntu 10.04 but I find the default highlight colours extremely hard to read when new mail arrives in a folder.
The default colour is grey which is both difficult to read and greyed out items have tended to mean something is not available. How can I can i change the default colour to something much better or am I stuck with extremely poor choice ? Has it something to do with 10.04 .

I am sure there is a way to do this with the awk and blkid commands, but I do not know any of this well enough yet to figure it out and after a couple of hours of reading I am still lost as to exactly how I would put this together.
