Programming :: Simple Shell Script That Produce Digit Values

Aug 9, 2010

I just started learning shell programming and I'm trying to create a shell script that produce something like this:
Input: 1 234 5 678 9
Output: < <<< 5 >>> >
Input:abc d 1234 5 5 67890 e f ghij
Output:abc d <<<< 5 5 >>>< e f ghij
Characters with values less than 5 will display '<' digit values greater than 5 display '>'. The digit '5' will be left unchanged.

Below is my unfinished code:
#!/bin/sh
read userInput
for f in "$userInput"
do
f1="$(echo ${f} | sed "s/[^0-9]//g")"
if test $f1 -lt 4
then
f3='<'
elif test $f1 -gt 6
then
f3='>'
fi
f2="$(echo ${f} | tr "$f1" "$f3")"
echo $f2
done

Programming :: Shell Script To Table RAW Device Values?

Mar 30, 2011

I'm working on a script to table the outputs of various commands that depend on each other. The commands are these:

Code:

[root@kybsdc2 ~]# raw -q /dev/raw/raw1
[root@kybsdc2 ~]# sginfo -a /dev/dm-5 | grep Serial
[root@kybsdc2 ~]# multipath -ll

which give these outputs:

Code:

#/dev/raw/raw1:bound to major 253, minor 5
#Serial Number 'P3e8hZWrsSeX'
#netapp (360a9800050336538685a577273536558) dm-5 NETAPP,LUN
[size=1.0G][features=1 queue_if_no_path][hwhandler=0][rw]

[code]....

Also the RAW13 device has completely wrong output due to 1 occurring more times throughout the sequence causing more information to be displayed then needed. The last point is if I could somehow remove the '' in the serial number outputs and the = sign from the device sizes. I guess I will have to either put a whole lot of logical IF or CASE statements in but somehow I need to streamline and make this code dynamic!

Programming :: Shell Script To Convert Values On Successive Lines Into Consecutive Ranges?

Jul 7, 2010

I have a series of input files formatted like this:

Code:

RTREVF, KOG3266 = 111
RTREVF, KOG3294 = 130
RTREVF, KOG3295 = 177
WAGF, KOG3307 = 107
JTTF, KOG3320 = 174

Each line represents a portion of a data matrix. I want to convert the numbers after the "=" to the range of that partition in the matrix such that the output file looks like this:

Code:

RTREVF, KOG3266 = 1-111
RTREVF, KOG3294 = 112-241
RTREVF, KOG3295 = 242-418
WAGF, KOG3307 = 419-525
JTTF, KOG3320 = 526-699

Programming :: Print A Single Digit Integer On To The Screen Using The Int 0x80?

Jul 4, 2010

I want to print a single digit integer on to the screen using the int 0x80. I have loaded the number in the ecx(=5, say), size in edx (=4, lenght) and eax (=4) ebx (=1). I've added 48 to the contents of ecx, and then calling int 0x80, I thought should print 5 on the screen.

However it does not print anything. also gives no errors. I checked the contents of the ecx reg (gdb), it has 53.

A snippet showing the this will be great. I've seen snippets using the c library (printf), but I want to see how it is done using int 0x80.

CentOS 5 :: Creating A Simple Live CD That Executes A Shell Script?

Mar 9, 2010

I would like to a build a CD image (of CentOS 5, x86_64 that loads into memory and boots to the OS without installing anything to hard drives. Then I would like the system to execute a shell script automatically. The shell script will have commands that will control execution.

The goal of this exercise is basically to pre-configure a system (RAID config, BIOS update, etc) automatically using the shell script before installing the OS. I would like the ability to change the shell script as needed and probably repackage the ISO image. I would prefer not to deal with building a source tree to accomplish this. this is something one could do using mkisofs.

There are lots of values in format like "3m1.057s" are stored in variable_test separated with an space between two such values. For exapmple, value is "3m1.057s" I need to save different parts of a value in three separate array variables such as the

var_hour=3
var_min=1
var_sec= 057

tell if this can be done using "awk". A "WHILE" loop might be used to separate and store theses values I guess?
