In gui validation if user enters string in integer requiring field, a dialog box pops out. So on clicking the button i want to stop the program execution and return to the previous jframe(either the same one or newly created object of it).
How can i handle this in java.
I tried calling main(); but it doesn't work.
Also System.exit(0); doensn't work.
I went to an interview last week and there was this guy who asked a simple question that i have been trying to solve for a couple of days. I tried google but i just cant get the search keywords right. The result were just useless. View 9 Replies View RelatedI am facing problems to restart PADS(Passive asset detection system) from java program.I used the root as a user. So from the command prompt I can start PADS with out sudo ,but when I try to start PADS from the my java program i.e.
Process proc=Runtime.getRuntime().exec("pads restart");
It throws the error in log that FATAL error ! you not root and permission denied.
Then I tried the same with sudo
Process proc=Runtime.getRuntime().exec("sudo pads restart";
Here it create another two process extra
1 for stop the pads
2) for start the pads
It does not kill the previous process of PADS .and both the process get hung.

I have a java program that runs on Debian as a background processor. Yesterday the Java program stopped running. I looked at the memory usage, the system only had 5MB memory left, so my guess is that the java program ran out of memory to use.
However, after we restarted the java program, we could see that the free memory count started to go up. It kept going up from 5MB to over 400MB. The increase of memory happened slowly, when I measured it, I could see that with each minute passing by, there were a bit more memory added into the free memory pool, and meanwhile, the java background process was running.
I wonder why this would ever happen. It's as if our java program first brought the machine done because it consumed all the memories, then after restart, it starts to give back memories.

In doing this I need to use the uptime command for linux in a java program. I've done a little bit of searching on the net and it mentions this is possiable by using java runtime command. Unfortunatly though I have yet to find a working example of this. I've tried just simply reading the /proc/uptime file but I have no clue how to format the 2 numbers in seconds to make it the same as if you just typed in uptime in the linux command prompt.

The problem is, my code does not print the o/p to the terminal window after calling the ping fucntion for the first time. but, the cout statements exist before the ping function call, works fine. When i debug it using strace i found that output filedescriptor is getting closed some where through close(1), before returning from ping call. What would be the issue, can u please some one explains me what the problem is.

The problem is, it's not that easy to achieve. I don't want to do the "echo Hello $USER1 >> test2.txt" because I'm planning to implement this on a MB-sized text file.
I'm trying to save the output of the script I wanna run but for some reason I cant manage to do it with "script.sh > Output_4.txt"
The thing is that the script was already run and it extracted some directories so when I try to run it again (to save the log to a Output_4.txt) bash says (see screen-capture) and of course the log's empty!!!!

There are some running programs that use files deleted by recent upgrade. You may wish to restart some of them. Run 'zypper ps' to list these programs.

I'm trying to get a program to automatically reload if I accidentally close it. This is a remote access program, so it has to be relaunched without me doing anything to help it along if it crashes or I accidentally close it. I noticed that someone came up with a way to solve this back in 2007 [URL].. but the files don't appear to exist any more for it to work. how I might get a program to automatically reload on exit?
