Programming :: Perl: Compare CGI Input With Data From A MySQL Table?
Nov 19, 2008
I have this program:
#! /usr/bin/perl
use DBI ;
use strict ;
[code]....
and I get this error simply running the program from the command line: DBD::mysql::st execute failed: You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near '' at line 1 at ./submit.cgi line 24.
is this the right syntax to use, both, for this line:
my (@param) = $cgi->param("firstname","lastname","type") ;
as well as this one:
$sth=$dbh->prepare ("SELECT firstname,lastname,type FROM dts WHERE firstname LIKE $param[0] AND lastname LIKE $param[1] and type LIKE $param[2]" );
or should there be quotes around the $param[0] or something? (also is it $param[0] or $param(0)?)

I'd like to use a perl script to update a fields in mysql database when pianobar (command line pandora radio player) starts a new song. Pianobar has the ability to run a script based on events, I'd like to take advantage of and use perl toparse the artist,song,album and update the corresponding fields. Then later retrieve them and display them with php/html. I am by no means proficient with perl. I started to use bash, but it looks like perl will be much more efficient and and less time consuming.
Code:
#! /usr/bin/perl -wT
use strict;
[code]...

I want to compare the following two tab-delimited .txt files (both were subsets of the original files) by comparing Columns 3 and 4 simultaneously. It is easy to compare C3 because both C3s are just numbers. But how to compare C4s?Basically, in File1, "G,G" = G in File2, "C,C" = C in File2, "A,A" = A in File2, "T,T"= T in File2.In File2, A/T in Column4 just equals "A,T" or "T,A" in Column4 of File1. C/T in Column4 just equals "C,T" or "T,C" in Column4 of File1, and etc.
File1:
C1C2 C3C4
ih509rs12345467244750"G,G"
ih499rs6049687244911"C,C"
ih508- 7244977"A,A"

When a user logs into my webmail application, it creates entries in a table on MySQL called "identities" which works great however once the user is deleted fro Linux with the "userdel -r" command, the data still sits in MySQL. My question is how I can I remove the table data from old users? It appears as show below:

I would like to compare to mysql rows as follows:
Select count(*) from stocks2.historical where close*1.05 < (select open from stocks2.historical where date = date_add(date,interval 1 day))
and year(date)=2010;
The problem is with the "date" in bold... i want that date to be the date of the previous row. is there a way to do that purely with mysql? (naturally, i can write a script to go through and compare each date; what i'm asking for is a mysql solution.)

I have tried a few packages but cannot find an easy intuitive interface for editing tables in a mySQL database. I just need to simply edit the table field data, import and export multiple rows, and filter the table data so only the rows are returned based on a string that I search for. The tables I edit have several thousand rows and some up to 30,000. I do not know how to write queries and it seems all these packages require that you know how to write sql queries to do what I need to do. On the mac I used Sequel Pro, which is dead easy to use and is mostly point and click to do all the above. Since my mySQL experience is very limited, I really need something simple like this.
I have tried:
MySQL Workbench
Navicat (lite version)
MySQL Query Browser
how to do what I need to do with the above packages.

I have just run into a baffling error. I have a database set up in MySQL with six tables. My PHP based website performs queries of all kinds on these tables (SELECT, INSERT, UPDATE, DELETE). On my most recently setup table, the "Orders" table, I am able to perform queries from the server, as well as from my PHP MySQL Admin interface, but all activity from my webpage states that the Orders table does not exist. All other tables are running fine. I have tried rewriting the query script, checked for case sensitivity problems, even cut and pasted other working scripts in place, changing the table and field names as needed. No success. What could cause a single table to not show up like this?

A sed mishap prior to a database import left me with a table name with, eh, well, this: Code: mysql> show tables;
+-------------------+
Tables_in_someday
+-------------------+
day20101016
day20101017);
+-------------------+
I've corrected the sed mishap and imported the database the way it was intended Code: mysql> show tables;
+-------------------+
Tables_in_someday
+-------------------+
day20101016
day20101017);
day20101017
+-------------------+
But I can't seem to drop the table day20101017); because no matter how I seem to escape it it errors.

I need write a script that can compare multiple input files and output a file. The basic idea is:1: All my input files are in the same format2: I want to find in-common lines (in-common 1) from some of my input files (e.g., input1, 2 an 3), and find in-common lines (in-common 2) from the rest of my input files (e.g., input 4,5,6,7). And then, compare in-common1 and in-common2 and remove any overlap from in-common 1.3: Output the remaining in-common 1 file after removing any of its overlap with in-common 2I know how to write this script by putting all the filenames in one script and compare them. But the thing is, if I have more input files, such as 100, it might not be that efficient to write all filenames in one script and compare them.
I am wondering if there is any way to do such as:1: put all input filenames in a text file (file1)2: write a script3: Everytime, when I run this script, it will read in file1 directly no matter how many input files I have, give an output.I want this because I will have more and more input files and I don't wanna add multiple lines in the script just for reading the new inputfiles and compare them with the previous files. So, I guess this is something related to making my script a package or standardize it and make it easy to use in the future no matter how many input files I will have.

I am writing a script to mine data from my game server logs which are going to mysql. My first question is syslog-ng is sticking $msg into one colum it self, $msg tends to be a long string here are a few examples:
cn name team frag death flags role host.
0 Maik CLA 2 0 0 normal *.70.233.118.
1 lizardncd RVSF -1 3 0 normal
[*.22.247.40] lizardncd fragged Maik.
And they are not always in the same format, How could I parse this data to do something useful, like creating a user stats page with frag counts and flag counts. Should I create a script that runs in a cronjob that parses this data to a new table maybe once a day. Even then the $msg string value is random and I am thinking in terms of awk.
Second. I would like to keep track of what ip's are using what nicknames. Kinda in the sense of and ip associated to a array of names that have been used on that ip address so I can keep track of users. How would this work logically with a mysql db, could a column allow multiple values, then loadable into an array, which then can add, remove, and store to mysql.

I'm using MYTHTV with AT&T's U-Verse system. AT&T apparently turns off the set-top box if the box doesn't receive any commands after some number of hours. When this happens the box takes so long to turn on that it doesn't process the lirc IR channel change command. I've rewritten my channel changer to add a lockfile, and added a cron entry to kick off an entry to just "ping" the set-top box once an hour. But, OK, I'd like to play the bandwidth saving game and not do this if there isn't anything in the "record" table.
So, how would I write a script that will check the number of rows in the "record" table in the "mythconverg" database and exit if there are zero rows? I'm afraid I don't know how to even start this. Here is my "keepalive.sh" script that does the pinging:
Code:
#!/bin/sh
#if there are no rows in the record table, just exit this script
# lock the lockfile - MUST be same one as channel lock
while [ `lockfile "/tmp/mythchanlock.lck"` ]
[Code]....

I've got lines of data in the following format:
space1=number of times error has occured
space2=IP address
space3=Error
I've set this out nicely with printf and made it email me, the problem is - it's not entirely clear what each column/space is and the IP and occurances can sometimes seem confusing. Is there any (easy) way to output this into an ascii like table? There will always be 5 occurances, and the format will always be the same

I am working on an application in Motif and C++, which uses an XRT Table. With the XRT Table being an infrequently used product, it is hard to find good documentation on it, and one area in particular is sorely lacking... a good explanation on how to copy text from the table to the clipboard used by other X11 applications. I've come across an example application that demonstrates how to copy text to the clipboard, but I cannot seem to merge that knowledge with what I'm provided with the XRT Table API. Does anyone have any knowledge in using the XRT Table, and in particular, with copying selected fields within the table to the clipboard?

I know PHP auto removes stale sessions on it's own, but that doesn't remove them from the MYSQL table. So I was gonna make a cron script that ran once every hour that removed any MYSQL shopping cart item from the table if the original session_id that created it does not exist anymore.
From my understanding a session_id is an "actual" file located somewhere on the harddisk (is it not? correct me if I'm wrong), so I was going to do a simple check for each item in the shopping cart to check for it's original session file, if it didn't exist on the harddisk, then simply remove it from the mysql table.

Why can't perl find Mysql.pm? I guess because it doesn't exist as I ran find / -name Mysql.pm, and also could not find it.
shouldn't that file have been created and thus exist after I install perl-DBD-mysql?

I have a dataset of around 1000 lines. Out of these 1000 lines I need to pick randomly 160 lines of data and write it to a file. The program is needed to eliminate data bias when I run the program through a reanalysis program. I am thinking I need to use the rand or srand term, but I am having difficulty writing this in perl. I have to write it in perl, because the rest of my scripts for this project are in perl, so consistency is important. The data only consists of one column of the data (YYYYMMDDHHHH).

I am having a huge problem checking the data I input to make sure it is correct. What I am trying to achieve is when I input a value, it will check if the input is all digits and if it is not, check to see if it contains certain alphabets. Thus for example, if I were to input in data such as "11A" , the program will then inform me "There is an important alphabet in the program." This would be my expected output. Here is the program I have wrote...
Code:
int test(string r ){ const int arraySize = 10;
char array2[arraySize2] ={'A','B','E','F','G','H','J','K','N','O','P','Q','R','S','T','U','W','Y','Z'};
for(int cntr = 0; cntr <r.length(); cntr++)
if(!isdigit(r[cntr])){ for(int new1 =0; new1<arraySize2;new1++)
for(int cntr1 = 0; cntr1 <r.length(); cntr1++)
if(array2[new1] == r[cntr1]){ return 2; //will return2 when it finds the same
// char in the array and the string r. } else{ return 3;
//will return 3 when there is a char
//in the string which isnt in the array
} } else { return 1; // will return 1 when string is all digit.
} int main() { string r = "11D"; test(r);
if(test(r) == 1) { cout << "ALL ARE DIGITS" << endl;
} if (test(r)== 2) {
cout << "There is an important alphabet in the program." << endl;
} if (test(r)== 3) { // testRoman(r);
cout << "There is an Alphabet in the String which is not in the Array" << endl;
} }
So, the problem I am facing is when I input in data such as 11 or A , the prog will come out the right input. But if I were to put in data such as "11A" , the output coming out will be "ALL ARE DIGITS". The problem which causes this seems to be in the return statement , as once as it finds the first char which is a digit, it will then return 1 and not continue checking the rest of the string. Is there a way I can stop or continue a loop if it has met the condition I stated? What I can do or any other way available for me to check my input?
