General :: Covert Multiple Jpegs To One Pdf File In UBUNTU?

Mar 22, 2010

One of the most common qs i see in forums is >>> How to convert multiple jpg files to one one pdf file by one click . I have got 2 solutions that I consider solve this situation to the best ....

*1.* Install SCRIBUS from synaptic package manager . It can convert jpegs to pdf without any issues . F Spot Photo Manager can also be used .

*2.* This 2nd step I find much better ....
I have been using it myself for some time now ... and its flaw less ...

A) Install WINE using the terminal . For beginers .... Its a software that can run selected windows applications on a linux destro like ubuntu. Installing is very easy >>>> open synaptic manager and in quick search box type Wine. Once the wine files show in the search mark them for installation. For details on easy manual for wine installation check here .. [URL]

B) Now go to the page below .... Its a free software.

[URL]

Down load and save the software from the link given . Open the file using wine ( Right click on the file and choose the option open with wine.) The installer will run and the programme will be installed . And Viola ... Its ready .... Import ur jpg files and merge them all in to 1 pdf file .. Very Useful In Merging Comics together.

Ubuntu Multimedia :: Are There Multiple Tag Formats?

Feb 5, 2010

The music I ripped with Sound Juicer, or ripped with VLC and tagged with EasyTag both have the same tag issues. The tags work great system-wide in Ubuntu, and if I drop the song on a data CD and put it in my Pioneer stereo, the tags work there, too. I can put the song on my Walkman and then copy it to another Ubuntu machine, and the tags work on the second machine, as well.

However, the Walkman lists the song as Unknown Song, Unknown Artist, Unknown Album. Further, if I transport the file into Windows, the Windows system doesn't recognize the tags, either. This begs the question, are there multiple tag formats?

Software :: Creating PDF's From Multiple Files Of Different Formats

Oct 3, 2010

I have read alot about exporting or printing to PDF using open office. Haven t tried it but its pretty standard to be able to do that from a word processor so I'm not worried about it.here is an example of what I need to do. I just put together my wifes resume. I had the cover sheet in .doc I had the resume in .doc I had a pdf of some ground plans for large scale gardens she had done and I had a few new pix in jpeg.
I was able to go into Lightening PDF hit create new, pull all those files in, sort them in the order I needed and it created a single mutipage .pdf from those files.

Any luck on finding something like that for linux? That would be just about the last piece of software (If I can make wings work for me) that I need to start testing ubuntu as a primary operating system.

Ubuntu Multimedia :: Covert Video File To .asf File Type?

Jan 24, 2011

I want to be able to play a video file on my pda(Tungsten T5) but from memory the only video file i have seen playable on it was the asf file that is used when it starts up/reboots. I tried other file types in the past that were suggested in maybe a manual or forum or something but they never worked/played. I think it is because of the player installed and i tried installing another player but from memory that didn't install properly or just did not play anything. So if anyone knows of a way to convert files maybe using winff or mencoder i would love that info. I have been googling and have found nothing specific to what i am asking. I do not see anything in winff to convert to asf and cannot remember ever using mencoder.

Software :: Opinions On Programs To Change Video Formats / Resize It?

Jan 12, 2010

I'm wanting to back up my kids' DVD collections because lets face it: DVD's and frisbees just look too much alike.......Anyway, I can rip the DVD's fine (usining k9copy), but 5GB seems excessive to me for a 1:1 copy.

I'd like to know what other people are using to shrink final file size. Also changing file formats from .aviso that I can just use these same files on the little personal video players the kids got for Christmas would be great. They support a number of file types which escapes me at the moment.

General :: Totem Won't Play Common Video Formats - An Error Occurred

Dec 13, 2009

Debian Lenny Gnome
Intel Celeron, 1100MHz, 512k

Earlier today I downloaded a video of a Mozilla Project preview, in MP4. Of course, it won't play. All I get is the audio, and this error:

Quote:

"An error occurred. The playback of this movie requires a H.264 decoder plugin which is not installed."

I put in some time, researching this issue, trying to figure it all out. I guess I'm looking in the wrong places. Is this a proprietary format issue? Also, when I was overdosing on XP, my media drug of choice was Klite mega codec pack (from codecs.com). It literally plays every media format, audio and video. In addition to fixing the above issue, can somebody guide me to an equivalent player with codecs for [insert any media type here]? I have several Terrabytes of various video and audio files, and prefer to not convert them all.

Ubuntu Multimedia :: Bulk Video Converter For Viewing On The Ipod?

Jun 17, 2010

I've been working on a small program to perform a very specific and useful task of quickly and efficiently converting videos to go on any Apple Ipod or Iphone. This includes both classic and 5th generation Ipods as well. Ibulk is a command-line only program but incredibly easy to use and runs off FFmpeg with AAC functionality. The program comes with a Read Me file which will explain its options and instructions in concise detail. Ibulk converts several videos in its input folder to the desired H.264 or XviD video encoding to its output folder. All videos are created in mp4 format with 160Kbps 48000Hz audio sound quality (highest setting an Ipod can handle) and both video encoders at the highest bitrate an Ipod can handle with the exception of some videos which will be auto-adjusted to meet the Ipod's requirements. Ibulk is written in the native unix/linux language and so it should work on any linux distro.
