Aug 16, 2010Skype says it needs libXv.so.1 (Which is satisfied by xorg-x11-linXv which is installed according to YAST). Can I install the 32bit libs without damaging my system?

Sep 30, 2010I have installed Opensuse 11.3 32bit on my machine. Everything works except it will not reboot or shut down. I get as far as the lizard then it stops like It does not know how to. I run su user in terminal and give init 0 command and it will shut down. but init 6 just does the same as reboot above.

Jan 26, 2011I've read the how-tos (thank you oldcpu!) and wikis about how xorg.conf take precedence over the section configuration files in etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/, if it exist. I also understand that the xorg.conf can be partial. If it is missing some sections, these will be taken from the corresponding xorg.conf.d section config file. Currently I'm using a xorg.conf generated by nvidia-settings in one of my home machines, due to a dual-monitor setup. After generating xorg.conf, the device sections are:

My question is if the Option "UseCompositeWrapper" "True" will be used or not. In other words, if a section exist in xorg.conf then it's correspondent in xorg.conf.d/ will be completely ignored *or* only the lines in xorg.conf.d/ that already exist in xorg.conf will be ignored?
OpenSUSE Install :: KDE On 11.4 - 32bit Always English 64bit In German As Expected
Mar 27, 2011OpenSUSE 11.4 install from DVD with default options. (KDE Desktop, selected language and keyboard is German)
When installing from the 32bit media KDE is always English afterwards but when installing from the 64bit media I will have a german KDE as expected. Changing country & language & preferred language on the 32bit does not help - still in English.
OpenSUSE :: Can't Seem To Get Xorg-macros 1.6.0 To Install?
Feb 18, 2010I am trying to use the 'autoconf' command and I keep getting an error message saying I need to have xorg-macros 1.3 or later. I have downloaded both 1.4 and 1.6.0 and tried to install them. Apparently all to no avail, because when I run the autoconf script it comes back as saying I only have 1.2.2 installed. Where do I start looking to figure out what I am screwing up?When I run the configure script in the util-macros-1.6.0 it seems to run right. Then I run make and it says "nothing to do for 'all'". Then I run 'make install' and it seems to run that but apparently it isn't getting installed.

Mar 2, 2009I just got a set of updates from Xorg11 (Index of /repositories/X11:/XOrg/openSUSE_11.1/i586) repository and now, my X doesn't come up. During update, zypper complained about xorg-x11-libxcb and it didn't get updated. On further investigation I noticed that libxcb-xlib.so.0.0.0 is missing in the new package (version 7.4-4.2. The one currently installed in 7.4-1.24).

Aug 15, 2011this evening I updated my 11.4 via KpackageKit then logged out when I did Xorg died and I was dumped on the text console.
Looking in the logs I see

Jan 18, 2010After upgrading kernel, system (AMD 780G)refuses to start in graphic mode. Computer services running fine, but there's nothing or some trash on screen when X started. And no way how to get out except restarting or shutting down from remote computer.
Reinstalling, unistalling ATI driver doesn't help. Also manipulations with xorg.conf (install, safe etc previous file versions)doesn't help.
Sax2 detects videocard correctly, but result is same regardless which resolution@Hz is specified.

Jun 8, 2011There was an xorg update that I did today (June 8) and when try to boot into runlevel 3, it stops when it gets to starting up sntp. I also saw that it said DHCP client not running. When I try again (push the power button) and allow it to do what it wants, everything seems to start up just fine. I'm asking about this because I need to re-install my NVIDIA graphics card driver. For the boot options, I've tried clearing the text (I don't remember what they are at the moment) and typing:

and when that failed, I've tried it as

but still get stuck at the same spot. I've also tried it without clearing the text but still it gets stuck.
How can I get to runlevel 3 in order to re-install my graphics card driver? I cannot run my 3D software without it. Can I switch to runlevel 3 from the usual (normal GUI) screen? I can't remember the command. I'm running SuSE 11.4.

Sep 3, 2010I'm trying to use nspluginwrapper to run 32bit Flash in Iceweasel. I need some 32bit libraries that aren't included in ia32-libs, like libnss3.so and libssl3.so. However I have no idea how to get them. I've tried aptitude install ia32-libs-libnss3 like it says on the wiki but it just tells me that it can't find ia32-libs-libnss3. I've also tried aptitude install libnss3.so but it gives me the same error. I'm running amd64 Lenny 5.0.5. What should I do?
