Don't know if anyone here has tried torbutton (addon for firefox) but I'm having trouble getting it to work and I'm guessing it's because I need other things installed/configured. Does anyone know what I need to get this to work?
View 4 RepliesI am trying to use the torbutton Firefox extension on xubuntu 9.10. I had it working when I first installed it, but now I can't get tor to start properly. When I try to run it using Vidalia I get the following error message:

I tried to update firefox using yast, and now Firefox will not launch. I have downloaded 3.6 and I can run it from within its directory, but I would like to get back to all of the nice desktop integration and Im not sure exactly what I did wrong in the 1st place..Reinstallation in Yast does NOT fix the issue and I have had the same issue with a few other packages.. OpenSuse 11.2 KDE 4.3.5

View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen using firefox to open a file attachment in web mail the update configuration runs but next time the same box appears to select which program to use , in firefox preferences / applications there is no way to add a new file association for a new filetype eg .doc or .xls ....!
I tried switching off suse integration with firefox but it made no difference .if anyone has a fix for for this i can save myself a lot of time .

It seems that there is no way for me to install java plugin in firefox 3.6. I've already read some threads about similar problems but none of the solutions that worked for other people work for me. So I decided to open a new thread. Following instructions of other threads, I uninstalled all java packages and installed again just the three that you can see below, but nothing changed.

I am trying to use 32 bit Gemalto pkcs#11 on 64 bit 3.5.8 Firefox on 64bit Opensuse 11.2(2.6.31.12-0.2-desktop #1 SMP PREEMPT 2010-03-16 21:25:39 +0100 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux). Unfortunately I do not have 64 bit pksc#11. I have installed 32 bit pkcs#11 and the smart card is accessible from operation system. Is there any solution to push 64bit Firefox to work with 32 pksc#11?
View 2 Replies View RelatedSome time ago I did an automatic update and after that firefox, thunderbird and yast2 don't start. It's not that there is an error message or sth. Their icons just start jumping and after a while it stops without anything opened. I tried even removing the zilla directories and so on but it doesn't help. Of course I tried to simply reboot the machine and strangely enough, still does not work. Opera works though and I am ok with that, however yast2 not opening is more annoying. I do all the stuff that I want from the console, but of course that's not the point

But when I try to USE the internet it doesn't work. Nothing in update, nothing in firefox. It says it is connected but it's acting like something is blocking it.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI just upgraded my 11.4 firefox and flash to get rid of an apparent flash problem. Before the packman online upgrade, the event pulldown on yahoo finance didn't work. It behaves the same after the upgrade. I noticed on this site, I couldn't click the cursor into the simple search window. So from openSuse, firefox is third party, adobe is fourth party and yahoo is fifth party. Who owns this problem? The rest of my system is KDE 4.6.0 on HW 686 - 32 bit.

View 13 Replies View RelatedI've been using opensuse for about a week.(although I'm not completely a linux noob) I've been slowly moving more of the stuff I do on windows over to suse. I thought my sound was working fine until I decided to get mp3s running on amarok. I followed a bunch of guides which didn't work. While I was messing around with stuff I noticed a startup noise. I just assumed it didn't have a startup noise. At some point I broke all of my sound except running wine, so I reinstalled.
Now that I've noticed, none of my notification sounds work. Stuff like skype, firefox, and wine still give me sounds.
(If anyone could point me in the direction of a good place to get mp3s working on amarok would be nice as well.)
Debian Squeeze 32bit. I uninstalled Iceweasel. I downloaded Firefox from their website. It is the complete folder and I have it in my /home/mydir/firefox. I have Flash installed just fine. The problem is java. I have sun-java6-jre installed but I am not sure what I need to link to the Firefox plugins folder to get java to work.

I go to terminal and type "firefox -safe-mode" (because i was using ubuntu this command worked when this exact problem occurred) but here i get "Could not find compatible GRE between version 1.9.1.4 and 1.9.1.4"

I downloaded Firefox 3.6 from the Mozilla website, and installed Java Runtime and Java Browser Plugin from Ubuntu Software Center, but Java will not work within Firefox, it works with Firefox 3.5.7 installed from the repositories, but I really want to use Firefox 3.6. I've even tried UbuntuZilla, without any success. This is annoying as I visit a lot of Java enabled websites.

Having been given a P4 computer "not running fast" had xp on it.I decided that the time had come to improve on Microsoft so I added an extra 1gb ram downloaded ubuntu, burn off a cd and set to work loading this computer with Ubuntu
Try 1 failed, boot of disk but stalled
Try 2 failed boot off disk but full of errors.
Try 3 from within windows, yes we have Ubuntu dual boot with a fresh install of XP, looking good took it off the work bench and plugged into my KVM system. Reboot.Err where is {Ubuntu} bit like a rabbit and hopped off the drive
Try 4 Boot up from inside windows only this time a full reformat and full install of "Bunny" {well it has hopped off once} so from now on, I shall call ubuntu Bugs after bugs bunny that well known cartoon fool. (What's up Doc)

Yesterday I tried to update Firefox from 3.0.19 to 3.6 using this instructions: [URL]
Installation went without problems, but now I can not start Firefox! The FF icon in the taskbar changed to a globe and says "Namoroka - FF pre-release" but firefox doesn't start by clicking onto it. I tried to manually remove all firefox packages and reinstalling either 3.0 or 3.6 but same problem again. I also installed epiphany too, but it shows the error "epiphany cannot be used at the moment, because initialization of mozilla failed".
I want to use the new Firefox (or old one, if 3.6 not possible) in Ubuntu!
P.S.: Now I'm writing with FF from my Windows installation under Wine.
Right now I'm running Firefox 3.6.4. In ~/.mozilla/plugins I have a link to the Java plugin. I'm using Java version 6 update 20.
For some reason, Firefox will not acknowledge that I have the Java plugin installed. It won't show up under Add-ons > Plugins, and if I go to a web page that requires Java, it says I don't have it installed.
I've even moved my ~/.mozilla/firefox directory, allowing Firefox to create a new empty preferences directory, and Java still won't show up.
However, Java shows up just fine in Firefox 3.5. How do I get Java enabled?
i've come to replacement my 80 yr old fathers win98 machine with lucidFirefox 3.6.3 says 'connecting to .....' when accessing a webpage (eg his home igoogle page,bbc.co.uk ) and then times out .It all works with opera and links2 and pings are the usual times and its doing DNS . I've added 4.4.4.4 and 8.8.8.8 to /etc/resolv.conf for good measure FF its configured NOT to use a proxy ( Im fed up looking and checking !) and ive tried the 'detect settings automatically'this is a 'mission critical' step. Going to linux is a big enough change , so getting FF working will be a deal-breaker

For example:GMail uses the basic HTML interfaceIn LQ, Thread Tools is now a list of buttons at the bottom of the page instead of a menu at the top.Also in LQ, clicking the member's username on a post goes to the user's profile, instead of showing the usual menu.What is the problem?Not sure if this should be in another thread, but I found that Firefox 4 often just suddenly disappears with no warning or error messages. When I start the connection and the Firefox browser, I always find that Firefox has set itself to work offline. I use File->work offline and uncheck that box. This fixes the problem, but only till the next reboot. Even if I exit Firefox "in an orderly manner", the next time it will have set itself to work offline.
I had this problem in previous Fedora versions. I read about two solutions on the web. One was to write a script that removed a file called extensions.cache before Firefox ran. The other was to type about:config in the address bar of Firefox, acknowledge the warning message, and use the right mouse button to togglethe value ofoolkit.networkmanager.disable from "false" to "true".Are either of these good solutions? What exactly does "network manager" do? I think of it as the gui under System->Administration->Network, but it must be more.
I installed Fedora 12. I noticed that every possible language support is included in Firefox. What is the reason for this? Will Fedora and Firefox still work if I remove these languages?

Some links missing.- I tested the same web page on IE8 on Windows Vista. No issues, all links there.- I tested the same web page downgrading Firefox to version 3.5.4 and downgrading the required libraries. Same issue, some links missing.- I compared the html code that the web server hands to both IE8 and Firefox. They are exactly the same.I don't know enough about html or javascript to understand why Firefox doesn't like some of this code portion.
