When I am in the middle of reading a post in Akgregator and I decide I need larger characters, I press [Ctrl [+]] to increase font size. This increases the characters displayed but also displaces my vertical reading position so that I have to scroll to the text I have been reading.

My actual program is quite large, so I am using a modified version of the sample program from GNOME library for trial. I wish to increase the font size, and I have using PangoFontDescription. I have made that section of the code bold and italic below for quick reference to the code that affects fonts. But it does not make any difference. I am compiling the C file using gcc. I have a few VMs set up with virtualbox but am finding that I'm now running out of space in some of the VMs. I really don't fancy creating new VMs and reinstalling and configuring them so is there an easy way to increase the size of the virtual disks?

As can be observed above, I have used almost 70% of the available partition space with only 1.7 GB remaining. I have plans to install Microsoft Office 2007 on Wine and I know that 1.7 GB is not enough for the installation. I don't mind reducing the size of my Windows partitions in order to increase the size of the root.
I have done it quite often. Inserted and run the computer from a live CD so that the hard drive is not mounted an changed the partitions. It worked on the old reiserfs when I wiped the windows partition on my laptop to increase the space, it worked on ext3 partitions. Now I resized the swap partition and reduced the NTFS partition on my desktop - no problem. But it does not increase the ext4 partition. No error message it just does not do it. I tried several times with the suggested maximal setting, with a custom setting, etc. It just does not change size. Just for interest I booted into Suse11.0 live CD and tried from there. There I get the answer cannot resize partition as the file system does not allow resizing. Is something wrong with the system or does the partitioner not work with ext4?

/dev/sda1 - 70.57 MB /boot
/dev/sda2 - 5.81 GB back up for original windows
/dev/sda3 - 292.21 GB LVM group.
When I attempt to resize the 70.57 MB partition, it tells me that 70.57 mb is the max that this partition can be. This was true even during the install

View 12 Replies View RelatedI'm running OpenSUSE 11.2 on my Acer Aspire One with a 9 inch LCD. I have configured the monitor in Sax2 to reflect the size and 1024x600 resolution, and as a result the desktop fonts are all sized correctly.
However, the fonts on the KDM log-in screen are too large, and I'd like to reduce them if possible. Looking in the KDE Control Center, I tried using the Login Manager utility to adjust the KDM theme, but any changes I made seemed to have no effect i.e. changing the font size, or even the overall theme itself, still resulted in KDM using the default green OpenSUSE theme with large fonts.
Does anyone know, therefore, how to adjust the KDM font size or DPI in OpenSUSE 11.2?
I'm running OpenSuSE 11.3, upgraded from 11.1, with the Nvidia video driver. The font size for Yast, Firefox, and several other things is too small. I've tried changing it using the Appearance section of Personal Settings. That changes the font size in some contexts such as the window titles and task manager, but not in all contexts. In Firefox I've tried something similar, but it doesn't affect the font used in the tabs, function bar on the top, etc. The font in those parts of Firefox is the same as the one in Yast. So there's some other font setting around, but I haven't been able to find it. I've tried Google and SDB, but have no success searching there.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI am running openSUSE 11.4 KDE 64bit. I found the default font in YAST, for example, in Bootloader and Software Management, is about 8-9 points which is too small to read. Why on earth does openSUSE set a tiny font size as default?
I did try Configure Desktop >Application Appearance, etc. as well as qtconfig in the terminal but these seem not to increase the font size to 12-14 points.
I'm new to Suse and am wondering how to adjust the font size displayed by the terminal command. What I would like to do is make the font larger.

When I downloaded the ISO file thru DAP it showed up as 699.44MB but when I completed the download onto my HDD (XP SP3 & NTFS) it shows up as 716,230KB (see below) with a result when I try to burn on to a CD. I get an error that the file is too large. Whats happening, is there a solution to this?

I have a /dev/sdb which is 5GB. I am using LVM.
Now I increase /dev/sdb 2 more GB.
fdisk -l shows 7 GB but pvscan still shows 5GB.
how do I make my system recognize the new 7GB added and be able to add those to my physical volumen and extend my volume group and logical volumen
I have 4 primary partitions on my hard drive. One of these partitions has been divided into 3 logical partitions with some free space left over. The order is this: "swap", "/", "/home", and about 80GB of unallocated space. I want to incorporate that unallocated space into the home partition. I tried this by booting a live CD and starting GParted but it didn't give me the option to increase the size of my home partition or the primary partition as a whole. The only thing it would let me do is decrease the size of my home partition.

Using Ubuntu 10.10.
Installed latest catalyst drivers vers 11.3 My board has a inbuilt ATI Radeon HD 4250
i installed originally via admin -> additional drivers, but my desktop has shrunk about an inch around the edges (splash screen also changed)
I'm using a Panasonic Plasma Screen (XBMC HTPC) vis HDMI.
Catalyst mentions the Panasonic in Display Manager, but also mentions a Projector (1), which is also the Panasonic TV .
Resolution is set ate 1920 x 1080 and refresh 50 Hz.
I then reinstalled the ATI drivers as per [URL] , but no change (and lost screen coming out of XBMC).
I also installed the splash page fix here [URL] so now at least it looks pretty.

At the time of partition due to my immaturity, i selected the size of '/' to be 10 Gb. Now i want to increase it without reinstalling ubuntu.
