OpenSUSE :: Combination Breaks Library Loading Mechanism

Apr 22, 2011

That was released in October 2008, superseded in March 2009, and the current release is 1.4.3. It also doesn't work together with Python, but that's a more esoteric issue. Both of them are too clever by half, and the combination breaks the library loading mechanism. That's an old issue, with an old fix - though I haven't yet checked my rebuild, so there may be more than one problem.

Software :: Rhythmbox Not Loading Library On Startup?

May 20, 2011

When I startup Rhythmbox music player I have no library. Whats strange is when I click edit/preferences/music and then browse to select my library location (which is already correct), apon selecting the hard drive that my library is on the whole music library suddenly loads and I don't have to re-select my library folder, I just cancel the preferences window. But if I just wait for Rhythmbox to load the library without beginning to remind it where it is, it never loads.

Red Hat / Fedora :: Ffmpeg-php And Gd Module Loading / Unable To Load Dynamic Library?

Jan 19, 2010

fedora 12 with php 5.3.1 + apache is installed on the server

I needed a FFMPEG + MENCODER + FFMPEG-PHP setup , so I have installed all of the necessary libraries/codecs along with ffmpeg , mencoder and ffmpeg-php

I've added ffmpeg-php (ffmpeg.so) module to php.ini and restarted httpd

But ffmpeg was not showing up in phpinfo() so I grepped : php -i | grep ffmpeg
for some clues and got this warning
PHP Warning: PHP Startup: Unable to load dynamic library '/usr/lib/php/modules/ffmpeg.so' - /usr/lib/php/modules/ffmpeg.so: undefined symbol: php_gd_gdImageSetPixel in Unknown on line 0

That error explains why ffmpeg is not loading

Obviously something to do with GD library , so I've researched on the net , and found that some users suggest loading the GD module before FFMPEG module.

I gave it a try and added this at the end of php.ini:
Code: [gd]
;loading gd
extension=gd.so
[ffmpeg]
;loading ffmpeg
extension=ffmpeg.so ...but still same error when greping phpinfo()

Software :: CDemu Returns Error Loading Shared Library Libmirage.so.2?

I have downloaded CDemu from http://sourceforge.net/projects/cdemu/ and installed it without errors. However when I go to /usr/local/bin and run ./cdemud it returns the following error,

Quote:

ben@Scottie /usr/local/bin $ ./cdemud
./cdemud: error while loading shared libraries: libmirage.so.2: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

I find this confusing as I have installed libmirage - http://sourceforge.net/projects/cdem...r.bz2/download - and I have found libmirage.so.2 in /usr/local/lib.

Slackware :: Running Multi For 32 Bit Support - Error Loading CURL Library

Jun 27, 2010

I'm running Slack 13.1 64 bit. I'd like to try running multi for 32 bit support so I can run a 32 bit version of firefox using the 32 bit flash plugin. Here's what I did: - followed Alien Bob's Wiki and download and installed all the *txz files. - installed a bunch of required libraries following the instructions on the Wiki - installed the 32 bit 10.1 version of the flash player plugin in $HOME/.mozilla/plugins/ - started the 32 bit 3.6.3 version of firefox; it seems to work fine. - go to about plugins and verify that Shockwave Flash (libflashplayer.so) is version 10.1 r53 and it is enabled. - run "ldd libflashplayer.so" and verified that all libraries are found. - run "ldd /usr/lib/firefox-3.6.3/firefox-bin" and verified all libraries are found. - go to [URL]... and click on "test your adobe flash player installation" I will get this error: Adobe Flash Player error: could not load cURL library - I verified (repeatedly) that I do have what I think is the correct package. How can I fix (or start debugging) this error?

First was a DVD, but the new one is a CD, and now with the new version, a little dialogue comes up at the start to tell me 1 gig of RAM may not be enough. Well, it always was before. Is there a certain combination of settings which may make it run better? Also, a live session works fine.

Fedora :: Automatic Update Mechanism In F14?

Nov 7, 2010

can someone please confirm or correct my understanding of automatic upgrades in F14:as far as i currently understand the automatic update mechanism in F14 it works the following way:

1.) PackageKit (packagekitd) periodically checks for updates using YUM as it's backend and displays a nice icon in the tray to inform the user when upgrades are available.

2.) PackageKit (packagekitd) only runs when a user needs it and terminates afterward. When a interactive Desktop session is running, packagekitd is always running because it's spawned by the session manager.

3.) When using a console only system (without X) or when nobody is logging in on the local graphical console for a longer time i need yum-checkupdates for configuring automatic upgrades (same as done per default in CentOS).

OpenSUSE :: 11.4 - Gnome3 Shell Breaks On New Installation

Jun 28, 2011

I am running OpenSUSE 11.4 on my laptop and I decided to try out the Gnome 3 shell. I really like the design and I like the way it functions so I would like to keep using it, but it seems as though every time I install a new application or package it breaks Gnome 3. This is really frustrating because when I then try to log in it just gives me that cryptic error message that im sure you all have heard about "Oh No! Something went wrong!" or something like that and then it tells me to log out.

I know a fair bit about linux in general, but im no expert by any stretch of the imagination (my experiences have been with Ubuntu, Xubuntu, Linux Mint, and some older distros) so im only used to the Apt-get package manager and I find zypper to not be very understandable. So I don't know if im breaking Gnome 3 every time I install something because of some dependencies not getting installed. My laptop is running a Intel cure 2 duo processor and an Intel mobile graphics chipset (which runs gnome 3 fine normally).

OpenSUSE Network :: 10.3 To 11.1 Upgrade Breaks GID Resolution In Samba?

Feb 8, 2010

I've just upgraded my main file server from 10.3 to 11.1 by DVD (I did *not* have a chance to do a zypper up after, so it's the base 11.1 install), and in upgrading my Samba from 3.0.23b to 3.2.4, I seem to have broken winbind resolution of group names. wbinfo -g shows all the right group name entries, and getent group shows that they map to the proper GID numbers... it's just that ls isn't seeing them: I get domain usernames, but the group column is 5 digit numeric GIDs in my defined range. I infer that something broke PAM, but I'm not enough of a PAM jockey to know what. I don't have a pam.d/winbind, but I'm not clear that I'm supposed to. I see that the four pam.d/common-* files were touched, but their contents are the same as the older ones I have.

OpenSUSE Wireless :: Strange WiFi Behavior Breaks Connection Repeatedly

May 30, 2011

I have recently upgraded to 11.4 and also had to renew an AP (HP ProCurve 10ag). This was several years old but replaced an identical model which had been working well until recently. I thought it would be appropriate to flash newer firmware as the device four releases behind the times. The access point serves partner's XP laptop and my openSUSE 11.4 laptop and after flashing the firmware both machines would make a connection and then break and remake, to the extent that the openSUSE machine became unusable. I thought it was an encryption problem and spent hours changing the AP and Client setups to no avail

After reading a thread here I checked out dmesg and this is what I found:-
[78.639247] wlan0: authenticate with 00:1d:b3:4b:ae:14 (try 1)
[78.640804] wlan0: authenticated

Security :: Remotely Decrypting A Server - Authenticate A Decryption Mechanism Of Some Sort?

Sep 11, 2010

i need to find a way to securely authenticate a decryption mechanism of some sort where the authentication is provided remotely without any user-interaction. Right now i have a number of boxes that all inform a central server when they are online. When they do this an OpenVPN connection is set up between them and the server.

However, i have been given the task to ensure that the scripts involved in this process are encrypted by default. This requires some form of self-decryption, which to my mind kind of goes against the whole idea of encryption/authentication in the first place. I need some way to leave decrypted the bare essentials required to boot a box and securely connect to the central server automatically. Then the server would automatically send a key/passphrase and the rest of the files on the box would then be decrypted on the fly.

Programming :: SDL Static Library - Shared Library ?

Apr 7, 2009

I'm reading about shared, static, and dynamic libraries. What is SDL? Is it static, shared, or dynamic?

I always thought a library would be a lot of .h and .cpp files compiled separately into .o files and then if you compiled your own program you could use the -l parameter to link the library and it was all compiled together. Now I'm not so sure.

I don't even see any SDL .cpp files in my system anywhere. All I have are lots of SDL .h files in /usr/include/SDL and I don't really understand the code in them.

I'm making a wild guess here: SDL is a shared library. SDL itself is NOT compiled into my program, therefore SDL must be on any system my program tries to run on. When I compile and link SDL all it needs is the header files to know what SDL function and objects it can use. And then on every system it uses an already compiled SDL shared library thingy somewhere.

So... where is that part of SDL? All I can find are header files.

I'm thinking the advantage of shared libraries is that someone could say update SDL on their own system and take advantage of the new features without having to download new executables with the new version of SDL compiled into them for every program that uses SDL.

So if I'm making an editor and a game engine and they both use a lot of the same .cpp and .h files that I wrote and I'm tired of updating one and then the other and I need to turn them into a library, then a shared library might be kind of a silly solution. I could just make a static library. Right? Because it's not SDL. Nobody else is ever going to use this library.
