On the left bottom corner of my screen I have what looks like a yellow post-it and I cannot seem to get rid of it.What it is and how do I get rid of it?I got it by accidently mashing some keys on my keyboard, I must have activated a program by accident.

This is very clumsy to understand the text. How to remove those yellow patches. It seems earlier I have used a command to remove empty lines in between text file and this problem is occurring since then.
View 5 Replies View RelatedRight after a fresh install I went into terminal b4 logging into gnome and after about 10 minutes the screen goes black. I can wiggle the mouse or touch the keyboard and it goes away. I play games with a controller and since I'm not touching the mouse or keyboard this happens every 10 minutes or so. I went into gnome and put screen saver to 2 hours and not to happen when idle but this didn't make it stop. I reinstalled again and it still happens.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI suddenly seem to be having a small issue with my laptops LCD. Recently, when I cold boot the laptop I will get a line of single pixel width running from the top to the bottom of the screen. This only seems to appear when the x server or the windows gui starts. Now if I turn off the screen after the line appears (e.g. closing the laptop lid while switched on) the line will sometimes disappear and all will be as normal. However, on the next boot I may see the line again. The line has a yellow-ish tint and always appears on the same spot. It appears on both windows XP and Ubuntu, so I assume it's a hardware issue? The line appears even when I have a blank screensaver on.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI got out my old Fuji Finepix s3100 and set it to web cam mode to see if anything had changed in the world of usb video drivers. Lo and behold it worked! I can watch myself on cheese web cam booth. kewl, but I wanted more. So, just recently hearing about chatroulette on the Daily Show, I click and wahla no go . After flash comes up and asks for and receives user permission to access my hardware, I click to find a random stranger, and my camera displays yellow and blue lines across its onscreen display box. I notice that movement is noticed by the camera. If I move I notice a change in background/lines. As far as I can tell, my camera is not a fault. I mean it works for local viewing. Is this a flash or possibly a chatroulette problem?

I have not defined a user vimrc, OS is redhat 4.6 and after a search and replace the first column in the editor is highlighted yellow and it stays that way as I close and open vim. This is the /etc/vimrc that came on the system. anyone see a bug or a reason it would do that?

I find them to be VERY annoying.
How do I get rid of Yellow Tool Tips? I already tried: gconf-editor and apps > panel > global and uncheck tooltips_enabled; then rebooted. The yellow tips are still there. I find them of little help and a bit annoying. Update: Actually I just noticed that the color depends on the theme being used, therefore it is not always yellow!

View 1 Replies View Relatedi recently installed vlc media player 0.8.6 in yellow dog linux 6.2 on my ps3 by following this procedure..[url]... i then used the firefox add-on mediaplayerconnectivity (0.9.2) to link video files for quick time, real video, flash (flv)etc... to vlc as the default player for these video formats. (note: i had to manually add vlc as the flv default player, b/c mediaplayerconnectivity did not automatically do this.)
now...on videos when i double-click on the little movie film icon to play the streaming file through vcl the player opens, but neither the video or audio play even though i have vlc setup as the default player. i have tried playing some quick time (mov) and windows media video (wmv) streaming video and they work fine. i noticed that there's a new update (0.9.5) for vlc. do i need that update to make sure videos (flv files) video will play? if so, how do i install the 0.9.5 update after downloading it in yellow dog linux 6.2?

Are there stylesheet differnces in fedora/mac/linux. For example in Mac or Windows my website which contains a grid [URL]... shows better grid colors yellow white brown etc. In Linux/Fedora it's pure white which kinda looks ugly. Is fedora missing something?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have a USB Multiboot created with pendrivelinux.com. I have tried to install Ubuntu 10.04 on a small laptop, but I get the problem that the installer wants to either:
1) Partition my USB key and install it there
2) Install it on my drive and destroy the Windows Partition
4) Install it on my key and destroy everything on it.
3) Manually setup the partitions
When manually setting up partitions, I cannot resize the windows partition. GParted can't resize that partition (there is a triangular ! yellow warning sign, similar to this thread's icon, but yellow). GParted on the USB (GParted Environment) has the same problem as GParted in Ubuntu. It seems to be locked, even though I am in root and I have every hard drive partition unmounted.
Every time I open a folder the Home Folder icon appears in Launcher.s it possible to change this icon? I tried changing the user folder icon and I changed the desktop icon for the home folder, but the launcher doesn't reflect this.Here's the screenshot to show you what I mean:

This obnoxious bar has just appeared in Smplayer at the top of the screen. It stays there even when I go full screen. Now full screen isn't full screen and there are black edges on both sides of the screen. I have not be able to figure out how to hide it. I do not need or want this onscreen display. How can I configure Smplayer to make this go away? How can I get my 16:9 full screen aspect ratio back? I have done nothing to mplayer or smplayer as far as editing any or changing any configuration files. I tried several videos and it displays on all of them. It was not there last time I used Smplayer.

In the past I used xinerama which was ok, but now I need to have two separate desktops, one on each screen. I set the nvidia driver with x screen, and now one screen works perfect and the other only shows a black screen. When I move the mouse over the black screen, the mouse pointer turns into an X, but moves correctly, which seems to me that the problem is that I need to set the second desktop to that screen. I looked on forums on how to do so, and no luck.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently upgraded my graphics card from a Geforce 7600GS to a Gefore 560Ti. And while most things are normal, during boot up my screen isn't "full screen" until X is started, after which everything else is fine. Essentially, all display, the grub menu, the splash screen, console text, etc, is within a box on the screen, with 2" on the left and right, and 1" top and bottom of empty blackness.
From what I understand, this is because the framebuffer is using the wrong resolution, but the maximum resolution that hwinfo --framebuffer returns is 1280x1024 (which I am already using "0x031a".) (My monitors is natively 1920x1080) Is it possible to do something about this? If not increase resolution than at least stretch the screen to full screen?

OpenSuse 11.3 with nVidia drivers.I have the screen working fine though it only runs in 1600x1200@75 using the nVidia driver (GTX260 card).When I play a game in full screen mode all seems OK but when I exit the game then I just get the mouse pointer on a black screen.There must be something present since the cursor changes as I move it, normal pointer -> hand over a link etc. It's just that black on black isn't very readable.

But for some reason I do not see the login screen but instead I see a green screen with squares and stripes. Login in the failsafe mode is successful. How do I fix it?
Also noticed the following,
1) Initially the splash screen picks up the right resolution 1024*768 and then it changes it to a higher resolution. This I think I can fix, because I had faced a similar problem with 11.3 as well.

SaX2 doesn't recognize my Dell screen, and so from the labtop commands I am unable to have the main screen on the Dell monitor and a secondary one on the labtop screen. I would like to have (if possible) my primary desktop on the Dell Monitor and the secondary one on the labtop screen.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a SONY PCG-R505TE laptop with an external CD/DVD, it connects via what I think is a PCMCIA card, the drive came with the laptop and functions fine. I currently have Windows XP running on this laptop, but it's very slow.I downloaded openSUSE-11.3-GNOME-LiveCD-i686.iso and sucessfully burned it to a CD.I have the laptop bios set to boot from CD, and it appears to be doing that no problem. When it boots I first see the welcome screen, then the openSUSE Installer, whether I select the Live (GNOME) option, or the Installation.. it loads the kernel, and then loads the KIWI boot systemit is on the third event, waiting for CD/DVD dvices to appear... that something seems to fail... I then see Failed to detect CD/DVD or USB drivethen a rebootexception and it reboots in 120 seconds.

That filled up quickly, so I added another 20gb secondary partition, after first trying to allocate a .vdi to a SCSI controller. Configured the drive in Windows (Computer Management), and all seemed ok. I shutdown VB, and rebooted my Linux host (openSuse 11.3). Now I keep bouncing back to the login screen, and can't login to Linux KDE, but can login to a console.I do have the following info:

I did see a message before, that I don't see anymore, that said it could not start NFS services due to missing entry in fstab. Another I'm seeing now is it couldn't start the avahi-daemon, no space left on device. This is odd, since I have a 200GB drive, with half of it left, only max 30GB set to VB. Here's my df -k output:
/dev/sda6 Use% is 100%
devtmpfs Use% is 1%
tmpfs Use% is 1%
/dev/sda7 Use% is 46%
So root "/" is mounted on /dev/sda6, which looks like it could be a problem, but why would this suddenly be a problem after working with VirtualBox? Could this be a matter of just freeing up space on /dev/sda6? Like the /tmp folder that's under "/"?
