I cannot remove several icons from my KDE panel. When I right click them, the "remove this icon" does not appear. Others are removable. Sounds like a permissions problem

View 6 Replies View RelatedI got sick to DEATH of Adobe AIR and TweetDeck screwing up constantly, and then Adobe announces there will be no more Adobe AIR for Linux. Fine, screw 'em, I'll switch to something else. So I hunt around for the options, most of which suck. Then I discover Choqok is already installed on my machine (11.4). Except the POS doesn't work.
To use it, I have to authenticate with my Twitter account. So I click Add, select Twitter, it pops up the dialog. I leave the alias as Twitter, click the authenticate with Twitter button. The Firefox icon pops up and bounces around - but Firefox is already running. So nothing happens! No Twitter access, no page loaded, nothing. I shut down Firefox, try it again. Same deal. As usual, no one bothered to test this POS software before releasing it. how to get this **** to authenticate to Twitter in the absence of ANY useful documentation for this junk?
To remove pendrive when I click the 'safely remove' tab instead of getting removed from the desktop it reappears again. This problem is there in fedora 14

With it, I can add a shortcut menu and a Stack icon. From there,I can add applications, but they have a generic *.desktop icon. this morning I got a bad surprise: Firefox doesn't start upon my click on its icon.
Tried to uninstall and reinstall Firefox.... Even its icon disappeared from menus after reinstallation (no way to see it in the menu editor). I tried to start it from command line:

When I right click on the wireless icon (the four bars, which are empty and have an X by them now). I click information about the connection, and it says "no active valid connection found" (or something like that, it's in spanish).I right clic and clic "edit connections" and it shows me five tabs: cabled, wireless, broad band, vpn, and dsl. The wireless tab is empty, there are no connections.I looked at ubuntu help, and it says to put this in terminal:Quote:sudo lshw -C networkand that it should say either "CLAIMED, UNCLAIMED, ENABLED or DISABLED"but instead it says, really fast,CPUIDPCI (sysfs)(and something else too fast to read)I put in another series of commands to the terminal to give information-- I read these on another post, that they're necessary for someone (you! I used to be able to open the Rhythmbox window by just clicking the Rhythmbox icon in the notification area. Now in Lucid it brings up a menu (isn't that what right click is for??) and I have to select "Show Rhythmbox", and sometimes I accidentally click on "Quit" and I have to start Rhythmbox again. It's a real PITA. Is there any way to make it the way it was before? I've looked at the Rhythmbox options and can't find anything about it. (Why do GNOME applications always have barely any options?)

Another piece of information that may be relevant: this started happening immediately after I installed a GStreamer plugin, specifically the one for aac, xvid, mpeg2, and faad. I've since uninstalled this package, but Banshee still will not load.
It was working until a recent update. I have the icon in my system tray. Networkmanager is running. I have tried to reboot the computer and restart the network manager. All switches that could turn the network off is on. Every time I click on the icon in the system tray it tell me the networkmanager is disabled.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI have two wifi routers. If I stand next to the main one with my laptop I can connect and access the internet no problem. The other router is in my office, and the bridging is messed up, so while I see the essid and bssid using 'iwlist scanning' and nm-tool, I can't connect to it.
Now, my main router's signal still reaches to my office, just not as strong as the borked router in my office. I need to be able to choose which wifi network to connect to without wasting time walking between rooms. I added entries for both in network-manager, but it doesn't show them in the list when I left click the tray icon! How the do I connect to the network I want?

I try to configure mouse click interval since a single click is recognized as double click by doing it from KDE mouse configuration in system settings; but my attempt doesn't work even (I set the click interval to 2 sec, but doesn't change anything). What is the best way to do this in slackware?

When I right click a .mp3 file I still have the option to play with xmms player showing up. Even if I choose an "other application" the xmms player option remains stickied to the top.Does anyone know how I can remove this entry? I did a lot of searching but couldn't find a solution.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI wanted to create another panel on my computer. I created one, which formed directly above one that I already had (at the bottom of one of my two screens). Just out of curiosity I asked it to autohide. That was a big mistake. Now, I am unable to right click to remove or change the panel (the right click menu doesn't appear). This is true for all my panels. I thought logging out might fix it. No luck. Restart. No luck. Now my "top level" panel won't load, which means I don't have access to any of the main menus at all. Basically, the only think I can access at this point is what is on my desktop.
