Apr 8, 2010I am working on setting up some networking connections here. [URL]. Depending on your router make and model. You can disable the dhcp server on the router if you go to advanced setup and in the dhcp option You should find two radio buttons off and on click off and you will disable the dhcp server on the router refer to your router documentations. I do not wish to disable the DHCP on my router (2wire). I have fixed the router so it assigns static IP addresses - by following the Management and Console Diagnostic" portion on this page: [URL]. There are 7 machines getting IP addresses from the 2wire router. Of the 7, I have configured 4 to have static IP addresses allocated to them by the router.
For example, the domain here is : 2wire.gateway.net
If I have a host named "zazu", and I ping zazu.2wire.gateway.net, I get the right IP address.
I am working with a product (ZIMBRA) that

Basically, the way it is supposed to be set up is:
ZIMBRA (internal) <----> Kerio Mail Server (Windows) <---> email from the outside world
So, in a sense, the Kerio Mail Server is to forward mail received from the outside world to ZIMBRA and ZIMBRA is to send mail to the Kerio Mail Server to send it to the outside world. How can I incorporate a DNS server into my setup when the 2wire (with DHCP) is working just fine?

Oct 23, 2010I have triple booted Windows XP (195 GB)partition 0? the second partition is Windows 7 (195 GB)And the rest of a 1TB hard drive went to Open Suse 11.3. if it makes any difference I used g parted to create the three partitions and made them all primary. My problem is I want to change the way they all get along. When I boot up, I get the options;
Desktop -- openSUSE 11.3-2.6.34-12
Failsafe -- openSUSE 11.3-2.6.34-12
windows 1
windows 2
which is fine, but clicking on windows 1 takes me to the windows boot loader with the options of windows 7, or previous version of windows. clicking on windows 2 brings up a screen telling me " rootnoverify (hd0,1) chainloader +1 BOOTMGR is missing press ctrl+alt+del to restart" I would like the end result to be windows 1=XP,windows 2=7, then I can rename them accordingly. one more thing, when I installed openSUSE, I let it automatically configure the hard drive and create the necessary partitions(it deleted partition 3 first). i remember it saying somewhere that the boot manager was past the 125 GB limit, and might not boot.

Mar 6, 2011I have a "master" IDE HD upon which reside several Linux OSs and a couple of Windoze OSs. The boot system is Mandriva using Grub Legacy and the latter's menu.lst file is where I select which OS I wish to use. I use HD physical carriers for my HDs. I used GPartEd to copy over newly installed OSs on another drive to the "master" HD. The commands in the menu.lst file for Linux OSs are representative as follows:

configfile /boot/grub/menu.lst
Task: Enter Grub2 which, I seem to understand, is a work in progress. I presume that some commands in Grub2 are not recognizable by Grub Legacy. I installed Debian 6 on another drive and I wish to incorporate an entry in the menu.lst file described above using the technique described above. Is it possible to use the menu.lst file in Grub Legacy (0.97) in order to boot the Grub2 Debian OS? Or am I chasing windmills?

Switched default Sound to USB Device in Sound Options in Task bar. After this i uninstalled the Adobe Flash plugin and reinstalled the Flash Plugin (after uninstall of Plugin, it still appears in Firefox as "10.0r32") by using the install Option direct from the adobe homepage as Yast Installation.I get sound with Koffein, can play mp3, everything fine, but Flash Clips are without sound. For sound i use usb speakers plugged in direct to the USB port of my Asrock motherboard. Suse also find the on board Nvidia Soundchip, but i only use the usb speakers. For further test i installed VLC Player. Here i also got no Sound, but Video is still playing.

I have tried reinstall of alsa, libasound. I was having 32-bit flash player; but there was no sound. Now I am using 64-bit flash player from adobe website, yet no sound still. I do not have pulseaudio. The file alsa-pulse.conf does not exist. Somehow, my system thinks there is pulse while I have it uninstalled.

Jun 25, 2010some of my apps will give sounds but not all. when viewing videos on videos, i can get video but no sound. the same is for the vlc player. my particulars are:
new dell computer. dual boot with windows 7 and the sound there is ok.
cpu is intel c7 with 8 g-byte of ram.
os is open suse version 11.2 - 64 bit
desktop is kde
sound is 5 series/3400 seriies chippset high def audio
i just recently installed open suse so no new software other than what was there on install is added. by the way, i get the kde sounds and can play audio cd's so the sound is working partially. just not for these apps. i have adobe flash installed. i'm new to kde. i have previously used gnome on other computers.

Jul 8, 2010I have developed an audio problem; although continue to get sound with kaffeine and aamrok, firefox recently quit playing sound; no software updates were performed, it just quit. It has always been buggy, like audio would cut out if another program tried to play a sound and firefox and/or aamrok would have to be restarted. this is different though, it's nothing to do with a conflict it just doesn't work. It won't play sound from flash videos from the internet or locally but I can see the vids, and it won't play mp3's (these both will play fine with aamrok or kaffeine). It worked fine until all of a sudden, Also, konqueror is exhibiting the same behavior as firefox, and it too used to play sound just fine.
I have already used yast to update anything to do with "codec" "xine" "flash" and "firefox"

Oct 26, 2010Somewhere along the line, sound disappeared from my browser. It was working. I have been following this thread and it has not yielded a positive result. I also installed mmcheck from red dwarf and it worked fine. The only exception was that phonon-vlc and libx264-104 from videolan are installed.
I also found in the firefox about:config with filter to flash:

Aug 26, 2010Just got done installing openSUSE 11.3 with the fantastic support the forum brings, but now I notice there is no sound coming from Firefox (v3.6.8) with Flash v10.1. Nor do I receive the new message sound for the Facebook chat. I do have sound at start up (the start up chimes) and I do have working sound in Amarok (with glorious mp3 support, YaST2). Is there a plug in that is needed, or is there an incorrect setting?

Oct 30, 2010Intermittently after using Firefox for watching You Tube etc, you find that there is no sound from Amarok and probably all other sound applications. Sometimes while using Firefox for multimedia playback ie You Tube the sound gets stuck ie (repeats the same few millseconds of sound ad infinitem) like a stuck record (for those that remember them). One solution is to reboot the system, however a quicker method is to stop & restart the alsa sound system.

I placed the mplayerplug-in.so file into /home/.mozilla/plugins and /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins folder but without success.

May 2, 2010flash version 10.0 r45 in firefox plays video, graphics, and sound just fine. however, while i'm playing a video on videos, or listening to pandora, the sound could unexpectedly crash. when this happens, sound doesn't just stop playing. it keeps playing but loops the sound every second or so - it's kind of strange to describe; the sentence, "hello, how are you?" could sound like "he-he-he-he ar-ar you-you-you". has anyone experienced this? i say it happens 'unexpectedly' because i can't replicate the crash on demand, but it happens in every firefox session. it seems that it does not matter what i'm doing - i've tried crashing it by making a flash video full screen and exiting continuously etc. because sometimes it happens when i'm going to full screen or changing tabs.
however, most of the time it happens when i'm not even touching the computer - i'm not sure if some background process can cause flash's buffer to overflow, or whatever. other times, it doesn't even need me to play anything for it to crash the sound in flash - it could loop sound from the first time i tried playing it in flash in that ff session. even when i exit firefox or pause the sound it takes a few second for the loops to stop. however, when i restart firefox the sound is fine until it crashes again and i have to restart, again! i tried removing libflashsupport as i read in other threads that it causes sound issues - no luck there. i uninstalled, installed and all that jazz. tried strace - doesn't report any flash errors for some reason, or as far as i can understand.
i also installed the flash debugger for use with the firebug extension, flashbug addon in firefox, but i'm not getting anything there either - i think it can't locate the flash debugger, although it lists the right version. i haven't had this problem with chromium yet, but i mostly use it when flash sound in firefox crashed and i don't want to reload ff; i think they use the same 'libflashplayer.so'? also, just to clarify, sound from the mplayer plugin works fine, and when the sound crashes in flash it does not cause ff to crash and quit. firefox continues to run normally but when i play sound in flash it starts looping. i've had sound problems in the past and i'm thinking there is something i messed up in the packages i have installed. i uninstalled pulseaudio because it was the only way i could find to get my skype working. how would i know if there are conflicting elements?

it seems to me like there should be a conflict between all those using the same sound control? however, why would it just happen unexpectedly? also, is there a way that i could dissociate sound from firefox without having to reload a whole session with many tabs?

Mar 17, 2010Sometimes in BBC iPlayer - Bigscreen the fullscreen video does not open on top, and then none of the lirc remote control commands (irxevent) function, not even Escape (nor Alt-TAB, which would bring the fullscreen on top if I used the keyboard - but sitting in the TV couch I would prefer using the remote only).
This often happens on my SuSE 10.2 partition, especially when wanting to resume a video, but never happens on my Kubuntu 9.10 partition. Both are 32-bit using KDE 4.3.5 Firefox 3.5.8 and Adobe Flash 10,0,45,2.
How can I get the fullscreen on top??

Feb 8, 2010how to edit the new grub.cfg file. For some reason when I start any version of linux none of my usb ports are powered unless I use these boot parameters (noapic nolapic). I have no idea why and I don't really care why, all I want to do is edit grub.cfg so it will incorporate these parameters automatically at startup.
P.S. Why change from the old menu.list?

Jun 24, 2010I recently installed the x64 rpm of OSS on my Opensuse 11.2 installation (alsa does not have drivers for my lynx card). Sound works beautifully in KDE (login sounds, apps produce sound, etc), EXCEPT for firefox. I can get no sound at all from firefox. I am baffled at why only firefox does not play audio.
System:
OpenSuse 11.2 (it is a pretty fresh install)
OpenSoundSystem 4.2
KDE 4.4 (updated from factory repos)

Dec 12, 2010I'm using Firefox 4.0 b7, and tried to install Mozilla binary on Debian 64 bit. Since it was built for 32 bit (x86), I needed to install also ia32-libs-gtk package. This at least enabled Firefox to start, but still it has UI problems, because it accesses current theme binary from /usr/lib/gtk-2.0/2.10.0/engines/ which are obviously compiled for 64 bits. This causes some UI to be degraded to generic GTK. Is there a normal way to solve this?

Jun 17, 2010Another post regarding the Firefox/Flash issue on Ubuntu 10.04 ... My main question is that I don't understand why Flash in Firefox (Huffington Post videos of The Daily Show) works differently on two computers that are identically configured (but cf. below):
- both have Firefox 3.6.3;
- within Firefox aboutlugins, all plugins with "flash" are the same;
- within Synaptic, all things that have "mozilla", "flash", "adobe" are identically installed on both (that includes Adobe Flash plugin Version 10.1.53.64ubuntu0.10.04.1)
The only difference is that the computer where it works is a 64bit system, the one where it doesn't work is a 32bit system. Can this be true, that this is the thing that makes this huge difference? Any fixes around for that (other than FlashAID)?
