OpenSUSE :: KRDC Not Capturing Keys Using RDP

Jan 20, 2011

I can't seem to figure out the secret to send ctrl-alt-del to a remote Windows box using KRDC 4.4.4. Tried in windowed and full screen mode - no difference. Tried enabling "Grab All Possible Keys" in KRDC tool bar - nope. In all cases, ctrl-alt-del and alt-tab are sent to localhost. There are some mentions of a "config special keys dialog" for KDRC in a few places, though I don't actually find this anywhere in KRDC itself. Documentation for KRDC at the KDE site is very minimalistic. This should be super simple, but I can't quit seem to get it.

OpenSUSE :: Set Up Bookmarks Using The KRDC Bookmark Editor?

May 4, 2011

I am just trying out a new installation of 11.4 (KDE) but have an irritating problem when trying to set up bookmarks using the KRDC Bookmark Editor. Whenever I try to add or amend a bookmark in a folder, I start typing in the name or location box and the text field clears itself and the root of the bookmark folder tree becomes selected, making it impossible to add bookmarks. As I need to add around 200 bookmarks, this is really frustrating.

When I try and connect to a VNC session from KRDC; and I am prompted for a password, the keyboard just decides to stop working. I can't type anything into the password prompt... Then the keyboard stops working for all other open applications (Firefox etc.). If I close KRDC, it starts working again... Is this a bug? Has anyone else seen this?

Debian Multimedia :: KRDC - Connect To ComboBox Is Empty

Nov 26, 2014

I've installed krdc in Debian 7 amd64 desktop (with KDE), but I cannot connect to anything with it:

"Connect to" combobox is empty. Entering "rdp://Username@192.168.1.2" shows messagebox "The entered address cannot be handled". "Plugins" list is empty. "apt-cache search krdc" does not suggest any kind of "-plugn"'s that I could install. Deleting "~/.kde/share/config/krdcrc" does not work.

If launched inside terminal, it outputs this:

Code: Select allkrdc(30434)/kdecore (trader) KServiceTypeTrader::defaultOffers: KServiceTypeTrader: serviceType  "KRDC/Plugin"  not found
krdc(30434)/kdeui (kdelibs): Attempt to use QAction "remote_desktop_dockwidget" with KXMLGUIFactory!

What's that "KRDC/Plugin" and how to fix it.

Installed packaged:

Code: Select allapt-cache policy krdc
krdc:
  Installed: 4:4.8.4-1+b1
  Candidate: 4:4.8.4-1+b1
  Version table:
 *** 4:4.8.4-1+b1 0
        500 http://ftp.litnet.lt/debian/ wheezy/main amd64 Packages
        100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

While rdesktop is installed and works OK, krdc looks like is dead-unsusable. Or at least it's usibility is hidden somewhere.

How do I make it work? Or should I report a bug?

General :: F3 - F5 Keys Incorrectly Behaving As Audio Keys / Remap Them To Original Meaning?

Apr 17, 2010

I don't know if this is a configuration issue or a hardware issue, but I have a Kinesis Advantage USB keyboard and for some reason the F3-F5 keys aren't responding as they used to. They don't respond to anything and, when I tried using F5 on Emacs, it said <XF86AudioNext> is undefined, so I guess it's a weird mapping problem.

Any idea how I could remap them to the original meaning?

Apr 7, 2011

I'm running Debian (Squeeze) and I have a toshiba portege m700. It has five buttons on the front just under the screen, which are the only ones accessible when you flip the screen over into tablet mode. One of them is for rotating the screen, and another is for switching to external display. I want to remap the remaining three to control, alt and super so that I can use shortcuts with the stylusThe problem is, when I used showkey to find out the key codes, I found out that each button generates more than one key code:Button 1:

key 126 press >> super_r, although this is distinct from the actual super key (125)
key 7 press >> 6
key 7 release
key 126 release

OpenSUSE :: Using Extra Keys For Launching Applications?

Aug 12, 2010

I own a Microsoft Wireless Keyboard 1000 which I'm overall pleased with. The keyboard has some extra media and application launching keys which I try to assign in systemsettings>Input Actions. I believe the application is called khotkeys, however I'm not sure. Four different cases occurred as follows: The keys are recognized and can be assigned a command to run. When settings are saved the specified application launches. Examples of keys that works:

Code:
Physical key symbol : Recognized by khotkeys as : HEX code send by keyboard (obtained by showkeys)
Headphones : Tools : keycode 171 press, keycode 171 release
House : Home Page : keycode 172 press, keycode 172 release
All media keys (play/pause, next, prev, stop, vol-up, vol-down & mute)

OpenSUSE Hardware :: How To Turn Off Mouse Keys

Oct 19, 2010

After upgrading to 11.3, from 11.2, I apparently have only one nagging problem: the numpad doesn't work. After doing some research I found the problem is obviously that mouse keys is on; shift-numlock fixed it. But, I can't find any place in YaST or KDE System Settings to change that. Where did it go?

I did look in the xorg.conf.d folder and checked all the files there, but no luck.

So where do I find this setting?

Software :: Capturing SCP Output With PHP?

Jul 20, 2011

I've made a simple php wrapper around scp. It works fine, but unlike when I run the scp command straight from the console, there is no output returned. I've tried using passthru(), exec(), system() and shell_exec(), all to no avail. I'm redirecting stderr to stdout already.

For example:
PHP Code:
<?php
$command = "scp -C -r $files $target 2>&1";
exec($command, $result);
print_r($result);
?>

Will scp the files correctly to the server, but doesn't print any output - $result is just an empty array. I'd like to see the output so I can visually confirm that the files have been transferred correctly.

OpenSUSE :: Some Keys No Longer Working In Xterm Or Konsole

Aug 8, 2011

Just had a weird problem in konsole at the command line. Some of my keys are not recognized as if they are not being pushed. They work fine in other applications and work fine if I push the Shift key with it and capitalize the letter. Some of the keys are the c, g, r, w, 3, 8,and 9. C, G, R, W, #, *, and ( all work so I do not believe it is hardware as I am using this computer to type this message. It is just at the command line. I don't know what I did to make this happen or how to fix it. I am using openSUSE 11.3 with the KDE 4.4.4 release 3. I tried reinstalling xterm and konsole from yast but it did not fix it.

OpenSUSE Install :: Arrow Keys Don't Work In GRUB

May 26, 2010

I bought a fancy new keyboard a couple of weeks ago, a Logitech illuminated one, and it works great in openSuSE 11.2 . . . after it's booted up. It's a dual boot system, however, and today I needed to get into Windows to do some CAD work, and couldn't! That's when I discovered that the arrow keys didn't work in GRUB. It's the particular keyboard, because I can plug the old one in and the problem goes away. Both are USB keyboards. And it must have something to do with loading a keyboard driver of some sort prior to the GRUB screen, because the new keyboard works fine once the bootup is completed. In fact, I've been using it for a couple of weeks now and didn't notice a problem until today.

OpenSUSE Hardware :: Keyboard Special Keys For Audio Not Working 11.4

May 26, 2011

I've been making some progress with my new Dell Inspiron n5110 and the OpenSUSE 11.4. After searching through the net I found some drivers to get my laptop going. Now I'm facing the following problem: I want to adjust the audio volume using a special key combination on my laptop(fn+F11 to rise, fn+F12 to lower, and another key that works as mute). Although the sound itself works fine, when I use these keys the have no effect on the volume. It stays exactly the same. Some I ask myself are the drivers for the sound card installed? In "Playback Devices" there are two devices: Internal audio analog stereo(which is the one that is working) and GF108 High Definition Audio Controller Digital Stereo(HDMI). The lsusb provides:

Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub
Bus 002 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub
Bus 001 Device 002: ID 8087:0024 Intel Corp. Integrated Rate Matching Hub
Bus 002 Device 002: ID 8087:0024 Intel Corp. Integrated Rate Matching Hub
Bus 001 Device 003: ID 8086:0189 Intel Corp.

Bus 002 Device 003: ID 0bda:0138 Realtek Semiconductor Corp.
Bus 003 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0003 Linux Foundation 3.0 root hub

So I searched for some Realtek drivers and came up with nothing. If you have any idea on how to get my audio running or how to make the special keys working, please let me know!

OpenSUSE Network :: 11.3 - SSH Connections Using Public / Private Keys Rejected

Aug 10, 2010

My ISP has for a long time had a broken forward/reverese DNS so that my ADSL connection with static IP address resolves to a completely different IP address on a reverse query. This has not been a problem until I upgraded a remote server from 10.3 to 11.3 last weekend and now ssh connections from my ADSL connection to it using public/private keys are being rejected with the following message in /var/log/messages (IP addresses changed):
Aug 10 12:00:32 penguin1 sshd[1270]: Address 83.175.246.243 maps to 83-175-246-243.static.dsl.aupex.com, but this does not map back to the address - Possible Break in Attempt!

But if I log in interactively with username & password, the connection succeeds. I've changed the StrictModes setting in sshd_config to 'no' but this hasn't resolved the problem. Obviously something in 11.3 is being stricter about this IP mismatch than it was in 10.2 (and no, the server is not using a firewall). There must be something I can change to make sshd more permissive? I've tried before to get my ISP to fix their problem but no luck. This needs to be sorted as a server at my home (which does not run SuSE) retrieves backups from the remote OpenSuSE 11.3 server every night using scp and these are now failing.
