OpenSUSE :: 11.3 + Cannot Find Libmysqlclient.a To Link Against C Programs

Dec 29, 2010

Moving stuff from 9.3 to 11.3 I'm running into the problem that I cannot find libmysqlclient.a to link against c programs. mysql-devel provides shared (.so) modules only. Is there a repo providing this or do I have to install mysql-5 from source?

OpenSUSE :: Libmysqlclient-devel Missing Libmysqlclient.a?

Feb 1, 2011

Looking at the different versions of the libmysqlclient-devel package, in Opensuse 11.1 package version 5.0.67 the file libmysqlclient.a was provided. In Opensuse 11.2, package version 5.1.36 that file is no longer provided. Can anyone give me any reasoning for this? Will I encounter any problems if I install the previous version of this package to fulfill the requirement for that file?

Ubuntu Security :: Link To WINE Programs Gone?

Mar 10, 2011

After reading Bodhi's Ubuntu security sticky, I removed the links between WINE and the various folders. However, I've lost the menu items for my programs.

The menu no longer has MS Office in there and the only way to launch these is to do into .wine and launch it from there.

How can I bring back these links?

Software :: Default Web-link Browser For Kde Programs?

Aug 25, 2010

I am running AnyMeal, which is a KDE program. There's a link in the set-up for FAQs, but when I try to open it I am told "Could not launch the browser: Could not find kfmclient". I checked /etc/alternatives, and the x-www-browser is set to be iceweasel (Debian's firefox), which is what I use. I do not have Konqueror installed. I use Fluxbox, however, I also run some Gnome and KDE programs. I checked if there is a package I may need, but came up empty:

Code:

mark@debian:~$ locate kfmclient
/usr/share/locale/en_GB/LC_MESSAGES/kfmclient.mo
mark@debian:~$ apt-cache search kfmclient
mark@debian:~$

how I can set it up so that the "kfmclient" can be recognised as iceweasel?

CentOS 5 :: /usr/bin/ld: Skipping Incompatible /usr/lib/mysql/libmysqlclient.so When Searching For -lmysqlclient

Jan 9, 2010

When I compile PHP using --with-mysql I am getting this error in config.log:

/usr/bin/ld: skipping incompatible /usr/lib/mysql/libmysqlclient.so when searching for -lmysqlclient
/usr/bin/ld: skipping incompatible /usr/lib/mysql/libmysqlclient.a when searching for -lmysqlclient
/usr/bin/ld: cannot find -lmysqlclient

I've done some searching and it appears this has to do with LD not having the correct path to the library, however, /etc/ld.so.conf.d/ contains a file pointing to /usr/lib64/mysql and a file pointing to /usr/lib/mysql. libmysqlclient.so exists in both directories. The PHP makefile has this line:

EXTRA_LDFLAGS = -L/usr/kerberos/lib64 -L/usr/lib64/mysql -L/usr/lib64 -L/usr/lib64/lib

I was wondering where to find the drivers for my D-link adapter. It says on the box that it has Linux support, what does that mean? I have already used it without any drivers and it works for a bit but after a week or something it doesn't work anymore (it is connected to the network but no download). What should I do? Would installing the drivers solve the problem?

Ubuntu :: Link To Application Cannot Find Applications In Home Folder

Jan 27, 2010

I seem to be seeing some weird behavior in kubuntu with KDE 4.3.2 and KDE 4.3.5 for Kubuntu 9.10 32-bit.I have a few programs in my home folder. For instance Eclipse and Mendeley. it seems that when i create a Link to Application does not launch them. Here is how I create the links.

-> I right click and create a new "Link to Application"
-> I click on the Application tab and browse to where the shell script, or executable is.

and when I try to launch them it does not work. The link is using the absolute path. I tried setting the working directory and using a relative path but nothing. If I run the link in a terminal it says "Warning: Could not find" and the application I set. Now this seems to not be a problem for system applications like Kate. If i change the link to launch Kate it works perfectly.

Ubuntu :: Script To Find All *.avi Files And Symbolically Link To Them Not Working Properly

Apr 5, 2011

I'm running uShare on my Linux 10.4.2 box to stream videos from my computer to my Xbox via Wifi. As the Xbox360 can only handle AVI files I'm trying to write a script that traverses through all my media at;

/media/Media/

Looking for AVI's and then linking to them symbolically into a directory called;

/media/Media/Xbox360/

I plan to set the script up as a cron job so it will constantly keep up to date. This is the script so far;

Code:

#!/bin/sh
#Searches through media drive to find .avi files and symbolicly links them to Xbox360 ushare folder
cd /media/Media/
files=$(find . -type f -iname *.avi -exec echo '{}' +)

[code]....

and the only file being created is .DS_Store, I think. One other caveat I've not yet been able to get my head round, is that from time to time I'll convert videos from say MKV using mencoder to AVI's and plonk them in the /media/Media/Xbox360 folder, and so when the script traverses all my media folders I need to get it to not link to files that are already in that /media/Media/Xbox360 folder.

Debian :: Configure: Error: Cannot Find The Flags To Link With Boost Date_time

Feb 17, 2011

I'm trying to cross compile something and it requires a recent version of Boost. I'm using squeeze and gnome and my updates are all up to date. I could not get through the 'configure' stage with Boost dev packages from the debian repository, so I went to the Boost web site. I thought the package requires boost 1.44 or later, so I downloaded 1.45.0 from the site and proceeded to build and install it. I think I installed it right, using /usr/local/ as the prefix. Back at my main project, I try to configure my build and I get some of the following text and then the configure stops.

Code:

checking for Boost's header version... 1_45
checking for the toolset name used by Boost for arm-none-linux-gnueabi-g++... configure: WARNING: could not figure out which toolset name to use for arm-none-linux-gnueabi-g++
checking boost/date_time/posix_time/posix_time.hpp usability... yes

[code]....

I cannot get past the 'date_time' thing. Does anyone know what is meant by 'flags to link with Boost date_time' ?

Ubuntu :: Where To Find Startup Programs

Jan 1, 2011

I have somehow gotten two instances of Mediatomb running on my Ubuntu 10.04.1 how to get rid of one of them.There is one copy running as a daemon on system startup - that's the one I want to keep.There is another copy running when I log in with my user account - this is the one I want to prevent from running.I have looked in my Startup folder in the GUI and also in my .profile script for my user account but I don't see any references to mediatomb there. Where else should I look?I think the daemon version is running via an entry in init.d, but other than where I've already looked I don't know how to find out how the second copy is getting initiated during login. It only seems to show up when I log in to the GUI on Ubuntu - not when I connect to the machine remotely via SSH.

2. The printers ARE recognized inside Adobe acroread, bash/tcsh command line, libreoffice, openoffice, frescobaldi, gedit, evolution, gwenview, okular

3. Gimp is sort of in the middle. It doesn't show any printers in the print dialog, but I can print in only black & white via Gutenprint.

Fedora :: Add/remove Programs Won't Find Sources?

Aug 21, 2010

I just installed Fedora 13 today, everything is working including the internet. However, when I try to get more programs it says that it cannot find the sources, and a cache reload will fix it. I wasn't sure at first what that ment, being a begginer, but I think it means going into system-refresh package lists. So I do that,ut it still wont give me the program list. I'm really confused, I come from using windows computers and I don't know what to do now, me be a little clearer, when I click on one of the catagores to find software, nothing comes up but the defalt packages that come with the system. I go into the system-Software menu, and there are no boxes cheked. I thought that this maybe to problem, so I try to cheak the top box labled without parentheses "Fedora 13 - 1386". Fedora :: Terminal-based Programs Won't Run Because It Can't Find Libtermcap

May 30, 2010

I installed Fedora 12 on a new machine (Intel Core i3) and one of my terminal-based programs won't run because it can't find libtermcap. The specific error is

Quote:

error while loading shared libraries: libtermcap.so.2: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

I seem to have this problem every other time I install a new Fedora. I tried a few things with old libtermcap files from other machines, and I tried looking around the YUM repository, but nothing seemed to work.

What's the proper way to get the libtermcap libraries for a Fedora 12 machine on an iCore i3?
