Ubuntu Networking :: Vodafone Mobile Broadband USB Stick K3770?

Jun 14, 2011

My PC crashed and I replaced Windows XP with Ubuntu. My laptop is still on Windows. Haven't been able to connect to the internet on my PC, Linux IT guy told me there was an issue with drivers on Ubuntu. Was told the Ubuntu community would know how to fix this. I've been reading through the posts and found a similar sort of problem posted with a solution posted also. The solution it seemed, lay in the Sakis website. I went to the Sakis website and downloaded Sakis3G onto my memory stick via my laptop. I need to get internet connectivity on my PC. My friend advised me to put the stick into the PC and then to open the terminal and type the following commands: gunzip sakis3g.g2 > chmod+xsakis3g > /sakis3g --interactive. Each command on a new line however after typing the first line: gunzip sakis3g.g2, I got 'No such file or directory'.

Ubuntu Networking :: Telstra Mobile Broadband - Turbo Stick Not Working

Apr 7, 2011

I have an acer 532h aspire one, running ubuntu 10.04.

Basically, I bought a Telstra Turbo USB broadband stick and I've been having a bit of hell getting it to work. First I couldn't get the computer to recognize it had been plugged in at all. I downloaded the modeswitch packages to no avail. I tried a few other terminal tweaks but they didn't change anything either. I left the card in and restarted the netbook and it finally recognized the wireless card. I was able to surf the internet for an hour or so a couple times. But after stowing the computer away for a couple hours and turning it on again, I found that this work around was no longer effective. So now I'm back to the blue light never blinking and I have to tether my phone and pay ridiculous data charges because I'm in the middle of nowhere.

I'm really new at troubleshooting things that don't work right out of the box.

It's a telstra turbo prepaid wireless broadband. The stick isn't even recognized as removable media.

Ubuntu :: Check My Mobile Balance With USB Stick?

Jul 26, 2011

I have bought Vodafone Internet USB Stick (model is ZTE K3570-z). I have unlocked my device so I can use any company's SIM card to surf internet.

Currently I am using Uninor to surf internet on the stick. On Windows, I am using Windows based dialer software which has feature to check balance by *222*2# number. I get my balance in Rupees and also my Internet balance in MB so I can plan my usage same as we get on mobile.

But at most of time I am using Ubuntu Linux version 11.04. I have configured my USB Stick to work under Ubuntu Linux but I don't know how to check balance by *222*2# number?

Hardware :: Using A ZTE MF180 Mobile Broadband Stick On SUSE 11.4?

Jul 21, 2011

Has anybody managed to get this stick to work with Suse 11.4 ? I have read the following thread :[URL]..which shows that it can work with Gentoo, but I am afraid that I am not competent enough to understand this. The stick is showing up in my hardware manager as a comunications device on /udev/ttyUSB0 but it is not being recognised as a networking device anywhere. I have also attempted to write a rules.d file for it, ( 15-zte-mf180.rules) and have saved this under /etc/udev/rules.d/ and also under /lib/udev/rules.d/ but again I am unsure if I have a). written the correct file, and b) pointed to it in the correct ways.

General :: Transferring Photos From Mobile To Memory Stick And Whole Folder Disappeared?

Dec 27, 2010

I'm not familiar with Linux and I do not understand technical wording at all. I was given this laptop as a favour and it is an ex-work Dell Latitude. I was given this to help me as a replacement when my Compaq working with Windows Vista stopped working. I do not understand the way Linux works much. I managed to upload photos before from my Ericsson K850i to my memory stick but this time when I tried it kept telling me that the path was invalid and such things which I did not understand. I created a folder for 2011 photos ready to go next year but the mouse pad is hard to control and even though I did nothing the 2010 folder went into the 2011. Sorry if I am not being very clear.

All I want to know is where did my whole years worth of digital photos go from my memory stick as I didn't delete anything. Would someone please help me understand all the different extensions or tell me what I need to do to try and retrieve them. I would be so grateful. I was nearly crying when it happened as when you right click in Linux there is no Undo/Redo button.

I have searched the board and I did see some other questions but I don't think they will help in this instance so I have started one. I hope I can get my photos back and also hope to hear from someone soon.

General :: Getting A Fedora 12 Live Usb Walk-through For Xp?

Apr 23, 2010

i'm trying to transition. Mainly because I'm starting to hate windows... Anyways, I have a 4GB PNY attache. Just recently, I downloaded the live usb creator, and downloaded all the components for a live usb running version 12 of Fedora. I noticed that, after completion of the download, the components written to my USB seemed far too few. At the time, my USB contained the following:

a boot folder, with olpc.fth a folder entitled EFI containing another boot folder, with the second folder holding various files. and then a 16KB file entitled GPL.when I tried to boot the live USB, nothing came up and it booted XP just like normal. afterwards, I rebooted it, taking care to check the defaults on my BIOS settings. It says that it enables booting of live USBs, so I have no real reason to question the defaults.

Ubuntu Networking :: SSH To A Mobile Laptop?

Sep 13, 2010

I have two dual-booted Windows/Ubuntu machines--one desktop and one laptop--and both have SSH servers installed. At home, I use port-forwarding to connect to these servers externally.

I am interested however, in being able to connect to my laptop's ssh server no matter where it is. I am interested in this partly due to anti-theft precautions and partly just curiosity. I know there is anti theft software that lets you remotely modify your computer--from ANY IP address--and I want to know if you can do this with SSH. Imagine someone stole my laptop and connected to the internet in a random location. Assuming i somehow know this ip address, is there any way I could SSH to it? (I doubt the router would forward port 22 or whatever to this computer...)

After that I wanted to add a new mobile broadband connection in the network connections wizzard - but cannot see any settings for mobile broadband. Ubuntu Networking :: Unstable Mobile Broadband ?

Mar 6, 2010

I have just switched to Ubuntu from Win 7 RC. So far its been fun, learning to use terminal and all. But I have got a problem now I cannot find a solution to.

I am using 3 Mobile Broadband. The thing just worked - I plugged it in, created a new connection, modified config a little and was happily browsing.

However, it started acting out yesterday. When I boot the system with the modem plugged in, the USB stick is recignised and NetworkManager starts connecting (I have auto connect on). It then shows the "connected" message, and generally appears working fine.

On the other hand, I cannot open a single page in Firefox, it shows the default server not found page.

I used the approach Windows taught me: close, open, retry. I unmount the 3 Mobile Broadband drive, pull the modem out and reconnect it. NetworkManager then does it's job and this time everything works.

I nether had this problem in Win7 or Vista. It looks to me something goes wrong during the booting when the modem is plugged in.

Ubuntu Networking :: 10.04 - Use My Mobile Broadband Once - Then It Stopped

May 3, 2010

I decided to give 10.04 a shot, and upon first boot, I was able to setup and use my Rogers Rocket mobile broadband stick. When I rebooted, I found that it was in the network settings, but I was unable to connect, nor did it show up as an option in the drop-menu. I played with the terminal trying to see if anything was wrong, but everything seems normal, which is to say I don't even know what I'm looking for in regards to this type of connection.

I obviously know now that it works, I just don't know what made it stopped for the time being. I'm thinking of doing a fresh install over the current partition, and trying to work the issue from there.
