Any easy to install/configure network/server monitoring tool? PLease note I'm looking for something of little lightweight here (Not something like zenoss) But I'd still like to get performance graphs and event notifying alerts. Also note this is to monitor less than 50 servers and perhaps a firewall or 2.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm faced with standing up an open source NMS and am deep into Zenoss Core. I'm evaluating distributed collectors that will be deployed behind a customer NAT/Firewall. Cool, this works. What if the customer IP space overlaps with an existing customer IP space? From a management perspective Zenoss distinguishes devices by IP. So it will refuse to add duplicate addresses. To get multi-realm IP functionality, It would require purchasing a subscription to enterprise license.
So my pickle, do I spend weeks or months hacking the Zenoss sub structure to duplicate that? Do I somehow remap the IPs through site to site VPN at the router? Or do I look for a different open source solution?Does anyone know of an open source NMS solution that addresses overlapping IP space and can do distributed collectors? I have posted a question on Zabbix forums asking if the distributed monitoring they have will do this. But I hope that someone else has tackled this and succeeded.
Anybody know of a good server health/status/performance monitoring apps? I have only used cacti never really tried anything else.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm looking for an application that can run remotely to periodically check a webserver to ensure that it's delivering pages. I can't use one of the free web-based services because the servers I'm monitoring are closed to the outside internet. I have internal client machines I'd like to install the monitoring tool onto that can check specific URLs in both HTTP and HTTPS. Then email a notification when something stops responding. It would be nice to have a tool that is platform agnostic (written in perl, python, etc.) so I could have flexibility in what type of client machine I use for the monitoring.

I have recently purchased dedicated box for game servers, I just wanted to install bandwidth monitoring software, however I have read comments regarding it as it uses lot of CPU resources. I'm pretty sure it was gtk based and no matter what I type in google I can't seem to find any reference to it. There is a radeontool but that's not it. I only have shell access to the server, and need to monitor outbound network traffic from my web service. Is there a unix command that will allow me to monitor all outbound traffic? I'm thinking fiddler, but a unix version? I've heard of things like ntop and iptraf, but I don't think those will help me in this instance.
