Networking :: Firefox Can Not Connect Internet (OpenSuse)?

I have just installed OpenSuse in a brand new desktop. I have got no problem at the installation process. Somehow, I still could not get my firefox to browse internet.I set the network configuration by applying the IP Address, Subnetmask, Standard Gateway etc. I can ping, both internal network and external network. So, I assume, there is no problem exist in relay and accept data.Still, I can not browse using firefox.I could, indeed, open the website google.com, by typing http://74.125.43.147, but can not proceed if I typed

Cannot connect to internet via Firefox or Midori on my Dell Inspiron 8200 laptop with a Netgear wireless card. However, I can update via yum, I can ping google from the CLI, I can ssh to my desktop, I can point a browser to find my router which /etc/resolv.conf points to, but can't get a browser to resolve hostname. I have a Lenovo S10e netbook running a pretty clean version of 32bit opensuse 11.4, with very few standard patches since I installed it all those moons ago. The problem is that firefox cannot connect to the internet, the odd bit is that skype has no such problems. Are there any network related functions that that typically go screwy that might cause such a problem? The netbook really hasn't been used much for tinkering to have 'accumulated' a problem, but I'm about to give it to the extremely non-technical parents in law and cannot have it misbehaving, especially not as they are in a different country.
I know this is not a win-doze forum but i always ask my questions here so here goes.I am having what appears to be a DNS problem on a friends laptop. He is running windows XP. I CAN connect to networks and even ping websites but i CANNOT browse in Internet Explorer or FIrefox.
How can I connect my Nokia 5230 mobile to OpenSuse 11.4 for Internet? I have used Ubuntu, in which they have wvdial but OpenSuse 11.4 does not have wvdial in /etc folder. My phone is detected by OpenSuse but what to do next?
I have a freshly installed dual boot Win 7 and F15. Windows 7 gets on the internet no problem, so does this RHEL/FF machine, iphone too, but F15/Firefox no joy. it's showing me connected to my network just fine. I'm pretty sure it worked at some point because I did my software updates and I have a saved bookmark, though I don't remember exactly.
I have a dual boot Linux system with Ubuntu Hardy 8.04 and Slackware 12.1. I have a USB modem Huawei 1261 that I am using with Ubuntu with the usb_modeswitch package. I would like to get that working with Slackware 12.1. The usb_modeswitch seems to be working fine and also the "wvdial cdma" seems to working but Firefox can't connect to the internet.
I run Fedora 14. I use Firefox. Because I live in China, I have a VPN service from [URL] Their software has configured Firefox to use a proxy. I do not start Astrill on boot. If I start Firefox first, I cannot connect to the internet. how to tell Firefox not to use a proxy? Today, Astrill was down or unavailable or whatever, and I could not reach the internet. I have looked in Edit-Preferences but I cannot see a tab 'configure proxy'
On this box I have Two seperate Ubuntu installations. Recently in both I seem to be having the same problem. I initially can connect to the internet as per normal and use any internet application. But after a period of time, sometimes just minutes, sometimes hours, even though the icon says connected, I cant update pages or send emails etc because there is no actual connection. My Physical connection is good I know - My Ubuntu laptop and Windows gamming PC connect fine during this period. So
Does this suggest an intermittent hardware fault or is there some thing in Ubuntu I can check to make sure that it is setup correctly and nothing has been corrupted? I am a lay PC person - I dont really want to be command prompting - Plug & Play and Point & Click is my limit.
I tried to install Xubuntu 10.10 Maverick as dual boot on my laptop. However when xubuntu is on, I can't find a way to connect to internet. When I try the 2 arrows on the up-right corner the option for wireless is deemed. I tried offline/online, that did not work either. when I click the firefox It says you are not connected.
I am trying to setup a dhcp server for my internal network. I have two NICs, a modem, and a wireless router. I have my server connected directly to my modem which is providing me with Internet access on eth1 and is working fine. I have dhcp and dns setup on eth0 which is connected to my router. The router shows that it is connected to the Internet but when the router gives a client computer an IP address, the client is unable to connect to the Internet but can connect to the router. I installed Suse 11.2 on clean HD. I cannot connect to the internet. Seems like Suse didn't install drivers for on board ethernet card. It is a Marvell Yukon 88E8056. I'm new to this and don't know how to install the drivers.
I had put my computer on standby and when i restarted it, it powered off within a few seconds. I turned it back on and after that i've lost connectivity to internet on Ubuntu 10.04.

I have tried to edit the connection using System>Preferences>Network Connections. I entered manual settings for IPV4, but whatever i enter there, it doesnt get reflected when i type ifconfig in the terminal window. I tried setting it to Automatic DHCP as well. Doesnt work.
I've recently set up a local development webserver using Karmic Koala. I downloaded and installed the server version of Kubuntu and have the web server working.
The problem is that for some reason, I'm no longer able to connect to the internet. I can connect to my router, and other machines in my network can VNC into the server.
I'm using an wired connection to the router and have the server set up on an internal IP of 192.168.0.100. I used to be able to connect to the internet, I downloaded and installed a load of packages etc before it stopped working.
The last thing I remember doing before it stopped working was that I installed Samba so I could share files with the other machines on the network (two Macs running Leopard and a WinXP laptop).
I got the share working - I copied a load of files to the server via the share, rebooted, and for some reason now I can't connect to the net (and other machines can't see the Samba share either.) However I can still VNC into the server.
When i boot my computer and open ubuntu version 10.04.1 the internet wireless connection i have connected automatically. Now, for one reason i don't know, the internet did not connect to the internet. The progam display a message to uncheck the checkmark in the File Menu. After doing this, i refresh the system but it still not connect.
I have a Dell PowerEdge 1650 server with 3 NICs in it. I am trying to use one NIC (eth0) to connect to the internet, the second NIC (eth1) to share the internet connection to a LAN, and the third NIC (eth2) to connect to the LAN.

The problem that I'm having is that NetworkManager (version 0.7.0) keeps setting eth2 as the default connection, and then I don't get any internet at all from the server.
My main goal is to be able to share files from the server to computers on the LAN. The secondary goal is to have a virtual machine hosting a Halo server, connected through eth2, so that it can host LAN games. But that is a secondary goal after I get the connections to work.
I've been looking around and finding other people who have done bits and pieces of this, but not the whole thing. I had been hoping to simply use the NetworkManger, but I don't mind editing config files.
Also I can't seem to find any good instructions on editing the /etc/network/interfaces file. The man file is incomplete, and everything seems to point back to the man file.

When I had OpenSuSE 11.3 installed originally, I never had any slow internet connection until I erased the hard drive and went to 11.4. This is what my configuration looks like on /usr/sbin/iwconfig:

The device I am using is a D-Link DWA-160 which is running the ar9170usb driver (and did on the previous version)
These are the steps I did: Disable IPv6 from the global tab on Network Settings. Set DHCP version 4 only in dynamic address in address tab. Used the anti-IPv6 switches in firefox making these changes Network.dns.disableIPv6 change from false to true Network.http.pipelining change from false to true Network.http.pipelining.maxrequests change from 4 to 8 Added ipv6.disable=1 in DEFAULT_APPEND in Bootloader (I couldn't find bootloader _APPENDS that was stated in another forum)
Switched from ifup to NetworkManager for Network Setup Method. Reinstalled OpenSuSE 11.4 with Ubuntu 11.04 (to see if it was OS issue) and it still didn't work, so I switched back to OpenSuSE 11.4. Is there anything I did wrong or do I need to do anything additional?
We have three computers at home. I have the only one running Linux, the other two are running Windows XP and using Belkin Wireless G USB Adapters. I started using Linux around November, and used a powerline ethernet cable. (It consists of two parts. One part you plug into your router and the power socket beside it, and the other you plug into your computer and the power socket beside that. It then uses the power lines as a network, and acts like a normal ethernet cable. I used the 'Auto eth0' connection without much problem). Back then, my internet would stop working once every few hours but only for firefox. Other programs such as bittorrent and Spotify continued working.
However, since I got back from holiday a few days ago the situation's worse. The internet regularly pauses (every few minutes, including spotify and msn) for about 30 seconds, and then comes back. Downloads are not cancelled, as they are when I am disconnecting from the internet, they merely seem to pause. The other two computers in our house don't have this problem, and I have tried the wireless adapter, yet it seems to pause at the same times as the wired connection. I know that it too used to work back in November.
After working tirelessly for that past 2 months to make my ethernet card works on my toshiba laptop, finally the computer recognizes the ethernet card. But the problem now is the network configuration as i can't connect to the internet. i'm able to assign the eth0 an ip address and netmask and make it up running, and when i do ifconfig -a i can see all is fine but yet i'm not connected to the internet. So i checked /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts and found out that ifcfg-eth0 and resolv.conf are not present. Now my question is how can i create them(step by step pls)? and what should be their values? And is that all i need to do to configure the network and have my internet connected?
I'm trying to connect to the ethernet using my ethernet cable but it seems that my Desktop is not able to get and ip address.
I connect the cable to my laptop, using slackware OS too, it can connect and surf the internet. Before i install my Desktop with slackware, i have tried connecting to the internet using windows which shows that the network card is working.

My proxy server just stopped from connecting to the Internet. I am using webmin squid proxy. All my setting are fine, meaning that l did not change them. My ip address for the Internet is 192.168.0.1 and for my internal LAN 10.0.0.34 and subnet mask is 255.255.255.0. I have check all the settings seems fine and the squid is running on webmin what could be the problem or where should i start my troubleshoot it. Firewall is turn off. It was working this morning. I did not do any configuration.
