Hardware :: HP Printer Still Reads Ink Level Empty Even After Replacements

My father has an HP PSC 1510 All in One Printer - Scanner - Copier. I have recently managed to convert him over to Linux, his current distro of choice is Fedora 12.Everything was going surprisingly well until recently: the message came up on his screen saying that the ink levels were low. After replacing the cartridges the message continued to appear. However the main nuisance is that it will not allow the printer to print at all now.
The cartridges are working as he still has vista on his system and logged in and printed out from there without hassle. Is there a way to reset the memory of the printer in Fedora? I am not much help to him here as I know nothing about printers.
I got a CD with a book - doc files.When I look at it with nautilus or with wine notepad it tells me that the CD is empty. capacity 49.4 MB. It does show the name of the CD BOOK2XTRAS - so at least the name field in the first sector is where it is supposed to be.When I boot to my 2nd drive - an old win98 sys - it sees all the files on the CD. Same CD drive in each case. I go to another fedora computer I have and it does n.ot see the contents either.
I am using Safesync from Trendmicro to backup my data. Since some time I am experiencing heavy problems. Normally my Backup should look like this: But when I am mounting it with WebDAV, it is looking different:

Note: When I am mounting Safesync with Nautilus, everything is functional and ok. But I need my command line access because I want to use rsync. A workaround could be to access the resource via the nautilus mount. Where can I find this via the command line?
I use CentOS under VirtualBox. There are Guest Additions, but for Ubuntu are virtualbox-ose-guest-utils and virtualbox-ose-guest-x11 There are GA replacements, better than GA (no problem with AppArmor). Are CentOS replacements ?

I've been able to kludge a kill script which finds the correct pid for the kdeserver (or gnome server) after my system comes up in run level 5 so I can drop back to run level 3 mode. Lots of experimentation showed me that using telinit 3 and telinit 5 would occasionally leave the video memory in a mess and I would have the black screen of death.
I set the security parameter setting to autologin for me since I am the only user of my machine, but I still have to kludge the default setting under sysconfig (the DEFAULT_WM) under Window Manager to pick a certain window manager, so it takes time to manually switch the desktop.
Right now I can leave the gui and drop back to cli, but painful experimenting showed me that killing the X server is a no no. Right now I kill the kde server, which sends the SIGTERM to the X windows manager, which then figures out that it has to shut down.
Questions: Is there a better way of doing this? Apparently openSUSE figures that we have multiple users logging into the gui desktop, so the gui is always kept running and a login window with the desktop manager option forces the user to login in. With autologin, this never happens, but no choice of desktop is possible on the fly.
Can some type of script be set up to painlessly enable this to happen? And what is the best way of bringing either the Gnome or KDE desktop manager down gracefully? I do get lots of error messages as the system attempts to recover and X shuts down. It appears that apparently the single user with autologin is left out in the cold.
I want to install a software called TinyOS which is an operating system designed for wireless sensor embedded networks in my account. The problem is it has instructions to install the software as an administrator since i'm not an admin of the department network i can not able to install. Is there any method to install this software as an user level rather than admin level.

An SSH/Bash command-line client that runs on Windows and, to the extent possible, uses all the standard Windows shortcuts (Cut, Copy, Paste, Undo, Home, End, Insert, Shift-Arrows, etc.) work on a bash command line. I know this has been asked before, but in case there are some significant changes in this area with Ubuntu/Kubuntu 11.04, I ask. Are there any good search and indexing tools available preferably something that also look at the content of files? Something along the line of Beagle. Is it still possible to install Beagle?
hello everyone, im having a problem when my computer enters in the run level 4 as the default when i start slackware. The strange thing is that it not seems that is a X window problem, it looks like more like a configuration problem in some part of the kde script to initialize the log in, because if i manually start the X service it works fine, i dont know what is the source. Our one remaining problem seems to be printing. She has an HP OfficeJet 6500 USB printer. We have the computer conntected. Strangely, when I boot from the CD the printer shows up as installed even though I did nothing to install it. After having submitted a print job it shows the printer status as "idle" and the print queue is empty. I tried deleting that printer and re-installing. The installation went as one would expect. However the results are the same. I'm beginning to think that somehow the problem is related to the fact that we are operating from the live CD. getting this thing to print from the live CD.
you can find a cutout of an output generated by "iwlist s" command for a cell. Does anybody know what Quality, Signal level and Noise level mean? What is the definition of them? I searched for it and could not find good information on it. What do these Extra:*** fields for? What does it show in the example above? How were those values computed?
I am running F10 x86_64 with Nvidia Quadro FX 3400. I installed the drivers and it worked just fine. No errors generated according to Nvidia log files. However, while in run level 5 when I try to switch to run level 3 by typing "telinit 3" or "init 3" the X server goes down and I get a blank screen. Same thing happens when I try to switch to a different tty session by <ctrl>+<alt>+F2 (or any F key for that matter). I also noticed that when I shut down my system I can't see any more the screen where services are shutting down and their status ([OK] or [failed]).

However, when I start in single mode, it works perfectly. I have tried looking for a solution from google, but in vein.
I have a directory that has a another directory inside it. The top directory is rather redundant since it only contains the one other one. Is there a way to delete the top level directory and have the contents simply "move up a level"?
I've bought a HP Photosmart printer, HP Photosmart wireless e-All-in-One printer - B110a and i've got a problem installing it properly. I'm using Debian 6.0 Squeeze. When i connect the printer, Debian doesn't recognize my printer as the Photosmart B109 printer for unknown reason. When i go to the site of HP and search for a driver, it directs me to this site:I've downloaded that latest hplip file as a .run file and installed it. My printer is recognized proparly, but when i try to print a colored image, it comes out black/white. Something is not crrect. Does anyone recognize this problem with this type HP printer?

I just upgraded to the 10.04 and everything works just fine as before (except for skype but that really doesn't matters as it has already been 3 years I'm using ubuntu and I managed to get it to work only once, for miracle I believe ^^). The only real issue I have is this: when I start up my laptop, after the log-in, no sound will be heared as the "speaker" volume level in alsamixer is set to 0; if I raise it from the terminal running alsamixer (as I don't know any other alternative) everything plays just fine, but the next time I boot I do have to do it all over again... So, how can I change the default startup level of the "speaker" in alsamixer?
PS: by the way I do have the very same issue with the screen luminosity but the other way round as is always starts at maximum brightness and I can't manage to get it to start at the minimum, as it did before. At least reducing the backlight if far more quick but a couple of times I forget it and the battery lasted something like half an hour
I used to have audio working. Now it's silence while the vumeter reads as if all streams are outputting okay. I have a Radeon HD 4670 with audio out the HDMI as well as audio out the motherboard simultaneously. This all works in windows 7 and used to work in ubuntu until some point, not exactly sure when, it all went silent. Also, fyi, I started with a clean 9.10 and upgraded to 10.04.

Ok first off the write speeds are off the hook, 210MB/s on 5400RMS disks (5 disks in a RAID 6). However, read speeds are 68MB/s. I wondering first off, why? and secondly could this be an indicator of something not properly setup that might cause harm to my disks?
Due to crash of 10.04 grub, I installed it again from a live CD on D drive "C drive has windows 7", then immediately after install, I upgraded to 10.10 64 bit. Need to change the boot to Windows loader and not directly to Ubuntu as it happens now. I see "windows loader as an alternative option" and it works when I select it. when I boot to windows, my computer icon reads only one file on D drive "bootsqm.dat". from Ubuntu computer option, I can access all windows files.
Problem: MATSHITA DVD RAM UJ-851S ( rev 1.50) reads dvds and plays audio/movie (.avi,.mp4,mp3,etc) but refuses to burn.
Media: Taiyo Yuden DVD (always excellent!!) Sony DVD+/-R (w/"AccuCore" technolgy; recent purchase 3 days ago) Sony CR -R (previously flawless, at least for audio, doc backup)
Notebook: HP Pavilion dv9000 series (dv9310us)
Symptoms: 1. Reads all media 2. Starts burn w/acetoneiso, brasero, nerolinux 4.0.0; 3. Gets to 35% - 90% complete; then each app above reports: "unspecified error.. .. .." or words to this effect, asks for log/bug report, etc.
It isn't that I don't get sound. It just won't play. If I click a file, then click play it quickly goes through an amount of songs. Too quick to give a good number. For example, if I have 100 songs on my library, I want to play one. Obviously I click play and such to make it play but instead of playing it acts as if it can not read the file (even though all my songs are in the library). Got any help/tips/whatevers?
