View 3 RepliesCan anyone tell me what names the tomboy notes application gives to its notebooks and notes? Not the file format (xml) I found that on the web, but the filenames and directory where it stores things.

I got Whonix set up, and everything in place to be running correctly and I was on cloud nine. The only problem I'm having is that whenever I try to go in and change my index.html files in /var/www/, or really do anything (add new file/folder, save or delete a file) I get the message that I don't have the right permission to do anything other than open and close the folders and files.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI have apache2 running on my computer. I want to change the permissions for /var/www/ so that I can edit the files without a problem. Right now I can use the gksudo command, but I'd like to be able to have all the files available when using an IDE like eclipse.
I've read in several places that
Code:
chmod 755 /var/www
will do, but if I'm not mistaken that would give read/write access to anyone. I'm not in a production environment, so I'm not too worried about security, but I'd like to give anyone else as less permissions as possible. Would this be possible?
I edit /etc/environment file and write there my variable by it's not effected, what i need to restart daemon that it's show on echo $VARIABLE.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am digging the forum through and cannot find the answer. My problem is, the usb hard drive when plugged in get automatically mounted what is great. Unfortunately I get only read permissions, while need write too. There are no any entries in fstab, so I do not know what does handle automounting and how to edit options to force mounting with write permission to user (root obviously can write). Are they hald options or any other app does this? Where to edit them? The drive is not permanently ON, just switch it when need, so it has to work every time I put it on.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI am trying to write a script to edit text files formatted like this:
Code:
(MCAL@Contig766:0.30207,CGIG@CVIR_Contig1014:0.13977,(HASI@HDIS_Contig573:0.16828,(CAPI@LCIN_5594371:0.36581,CFOR@FQH745302RIQ7Y:1.91244)0.160:0.00019)0.939:0.15648);
There are never line breaks or spaces in the actual files.
I want to delete all instances of the character "@" and everything between it and the next "," (including that comma) or the next ")" (including that close parentheses) whichever comes first. My desired output file would be like this:
Code:
(MCAL,CGIG,(HASI,(CAPI,CFOR)0.160:0.00019)0.939:0.15648);
I figured out how to do this using sed for either "," or ")" but both looking for whichever comes first.
I want to save notes against a file on linux... i want to save meta data about a file..because the file names are restricted in max length...So how to save notes or comments about a file on linux so that it gets saved along with the file itself...I used the notes tab in the file properties dialogbox.. but that way the notes stick to the file only on that OS only.. if i open that file in another linux os.. those comments/notes are gone...Way to embedd these notes into the file so that i dont lose them ever..At lease a solution that makes this possible on switching linux distros. if its not portable enough that these notes stick b/w windows and linux its ok for me.. but atleast if i format my linux os.. atleast i shouldnt lose those important notes..and be able to access on newer linux..
And i also have no idea if this notes tab was implemented to be linked with the OS only.. i dont see much use of it.. and a normal user also has noway to know this.. i also came to know on superuser chat from a buddy.. @Sathya ..this thing is more useless especially if u use ubuntu which has 6 months timeline..and crazy people like me who are always eager to upgrade their os as soon a new one is available..and any way i can search these notes from the terminal?
This was the most useful program I had under Ubuntu and I miss it greatly; evernote is bloated and complicated. Is there something like tomboy for the mac? Bonus points for iphone sync.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI saved my entire home directory of 11.1 before installing 11.2.I am slowly recovering everything, but it seems that Tomboy doesn't use ~/.tomboy anymore.I copy that directory from my saved dir to my new homedir and it ignores it. I then deleted the .tomboy dir from my new homedir and created a new note. It didn't recreate ~/.tomboy.So, is there any way to copy my notes from 11.1 to 11.2?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am running Lotus Notes on top of openSuSE since 10.3 and version 7 of Lotus Notes. The last packages provided by IBM (8.5 and 8.5.1) provide a smooth and easy way of installing it through rpm packages. Some issues had appear and I solved them (or lived with ), but this time I did a full fresh install of 11.2 64bits. I then install the brand new packages of Notes 8.5.1 and had the following problem : The Notes GUI wasn't able to display some elements of the interface (i.e. small view of calendar, search bar, popups, Notes basic settings in the properties etc...). Searching by big blue, I found out a solution for Ubuntu that I customized for openSuSE 11.2 64bits.
Step one : Install Lotus Notes: Have a copy of the .tar package from IBM. untar it into a new directory. With YaST add the directory to the repositories Install all the packages provided (the ones with Symphony are really optional).

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am trying to get Notes to run on Ubuntu 9.10 karmic x64 and haven't had any luck. I started off by following the steps from the following location [URL] This didn't work and I had the symptoms listed below. I then looked at the following guide and did all the steps that were not on the above link: [URL] However I still had the same issue. So the symptoms:
1) I don't see notes in the apps->office menu, but I am able to start it via:
cd /opt/ibm/lotus/notes/framework
../notes
2) I get the login window and am able to go through the setup (pointing to the notes id file, and my domino server etc). However at the end of it all, no GUI is displayed. Even though lnotes shows up in the running processes.
3) In the terminal window I get the following error:

With the release of Lotus Notes 8.5.2, it looks like Ubuntu 32bit support is there, however I am running 64bit Ubuntu 10.04.
I had 8.5.1 (32bit) installed and it was working fine. I did take alot of tweaking to get it running.
Just wondering if anyone has tackled the new 8.5.2 which is supposed to be much nicer in Ubuntu.
I've tried removing the old 8.5.1 and the install for the 8.5.2 doesn't really work correctly even with "--force" commands.
Always a challenge with Notes and Ubuntu Why they didn't make 64bit debian packages is beyond me.
My laptop has 10.4 and desktop has 10.10.My HD is damaged due a power surge. However, I was lucky to access my ubuntu home directory. How can I move my Tomboy notes from my laptop to desktop.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to delete all of my notes on the server. I've gone to "Notes" (along the top bar) and deleted them one by one. It now says, "You have 0 notes. Get setup!". Going back to "Dashboard", I see:
Files 0 bytes
Contacts 0
Notes 6.
I'm deleting all these because when I connected to the server, it got confused and started downloading from the server when it was supposed to be uploading from my machine. That caused me a bit of panic, you might imagine. How can I make sure this doesn't happen again??
I get this message when clicking the upgrade button in Update manager. I am attempting to upgrade from 10.10. The full message is as follows:
Could Not Download the release notes Please check your internet connection
My internet connection is fine on that machine, I just updated packages on it seconds before I saw 11.04 was available and can also browse and such
How to sync notes to Dropbox, but after the upgrade to 11.04, I can't get Tomboy to sync.
I get the same error as here: [url]
Where the details panel is blank.
But I don't know what hidden file he's talking about. When I press ctrl+h in all the Tomboy folders, nothing comes out, but there are a few manifest.xml files.
I tried to install Lotus Notes 8.5.2 (deb package) on Ubuntu 11.04 64 bit. Unfortunately, Lotus is not able to complete the installation! I googled and I found a guide on IBM forum (but for 10.04 release) and on [URL], I installed required dependencies (ia32lib, all getlibs, ecc) but I am not able to continue the installation. I tried to install in different Ubuntu release. Here a summury:
- Ubuntu 10.10 64 bit: Lotus Notes and FP2 install and works fine
- Ubuntu 11.04 32 bit: Lotus Notes and FP2 install and works fine (also in Unity environment)
- Ubuntu 11.04 64 bit: Lotus Notes cannot install.

Installing 11.04 has been a disaster.
I had backed up by copying my /home file to an external hard drive, but will that save notes in TomBoy?
