I use Ubuntu 10.04 lts and would like to create a launcher on the desktop that works like the Skype button [url] so that when I click on it it calls/chat with contact.
Suggest the command line input i would need to use for this in the launcher ? I know that its skype-wrapper to run Skype itself .... would i need to add to this command ?
For some reason the general launcher button (+ in circle) in the unity menu has disappeared. I do not know how to restore it. Which means I have great problems to start al apps that are not standard in the menu.

Actually when I'm receiving a video call it works, but I cannot initiate a video call.Then I installed libv4l-0 package (which has been installed to /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libv4l) and found here URL...) that I have to do something with this Code: Select allLD_PRELOAD=/usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/libv4l/v4l1compat.so /usr/bin/skype in order to make video calling work. I went thought some results on google but I couldn't find any hint. Probably it's very simple to do with this I cannot get.
View 8 Replies View RelatedAfter upgrading to 11.04, I noticed something strange, being that when I want to drag a file or folder from one Nautilus folder window to another which is not visible, I can no longer hold the item over said folder's taskbar button and wait for it to appear. It just shows the + for copy, and when I let go (which I have no choice but to eventually do), it creates a launcher to that item (I assume it's doing that, and not actually copying there, but the + has me unsure).
I've looked in Nautilus's preferences to see if this is some new behaviour that I can revert back to, but could find nothing there.
I'm of course using the Classic desktop with bottom panel being the taskbar. If you know how I can rectify this, please let me know, as the times I would want to create a file or folder launcher without the usual hassle would be rare, but I am constantly dragging stuff from one folder to another, and it would be a real pain to have to line up source and destination folders each time.
I know how to make another button act as the middle button but how can I map several mouse buttons to the middle button? xmodmap complains if I repeat button numbers in the pointer option.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI recently bought a IOgear USB bluetooth adapter and a Sony DRBT101/BLK bluetooth headphones to use with my computer.Whenever I try to make a call using these headphones with skype, I can speak for say 10 seconds and then the headset disconnects completely from the system. I then have to reconnect the headset by switching it off and on. I do not have this problem listening to music using A2DP. It works fine with my mobile phone.When I change the profile to Telephony Duplex (HSP/HFP), it shows up as hands free, I thought it should be headset in blueman manager. My friend uses Plantronics headset with is Dell laptop with built in bluetooth and he says his comes up as headset not hands free. Could this be causing the problem?

I cant seem to text via skype, it doesnt go through. I testet the skype test call service and voice works fine, audio and mic. I have tried to google and search forums but no luck. I have before used skype on my netbook with my cellphone as a hot spot and it worked without problem but it doesnt have the same provider - different sim cards in phone and dongle.

By panel I mean where all the menus are there - Applications, Places, System etc. and contains a tab for every running application. I brought back the panel but now I don't see the terminal launcher and I can't find it anywhere.It used to be there in "Applications -> System Tools -> Terminal" but now the System Tools option itself is not present there. System -> Preferences -> Look and Feel -> Main Menu. There one System option is unchecked but I can't check it and apply. I am logged in as root.

I want to have a launcher for intellij in my docky bar, but I have an issue.No matter which method for adding the launcher to the dock I use, the intellij icon specified in my .desktop won't display. Instead I get the lame spring board launcher icon. Once I launch intellij it creates another icon on docky. So now I have intellij's correct icon and the spring board launcher icon. View 9 Replies View RelatedI've just started out learning to program and I'm making a "Radio Scheduler" for my brother as a mini project. I wanted to make an "install" script, which would add an item to Ubuntu's Main Menu. I believe all that is necessary is to create a .desktop file and place it it /usr/share/applications/? This seemed to work fine when I tried it out on 10.10, but I've now tried it on two 10.04 systems (one virtual) and despite it being in the applications folder (so it moved in okay), it isn't showing up at all in the menu. code...
I'm not entirely sure about some of that (categories for instance), as I just used another file as a reference. But it seemed to work fine on my 10.10 system, so I don't understand why it won't show up on the others? Should be in Sound & Video if I'm correct... I'm still pretty new to Linux, so sorry if I've got anything completely wrong.
