General :: Pam_mysql On Centos 5 X64?

Jul 24, 2011

I'm having problems installing pam_msql on x64 Centos. Using yum, no packages for libpam_mysql or pam_mysql.

Is there any alternative to install this thing? I really need it for my OpenVPN authentication.

General :: Pam_mysql_check_passwd() Returning 6 - Pam_mysql Authentication?

Aug 2, 2011

I'm having trouble with my pam_mysql authentication.'ve double checked my md5 password but its correct. What should I be looking at? My /etc/pam.d/system-auth is completely identical to my other server (that works), but this one is somehow reporting that my password is wrong.I've bolded out the questionable output. Here's my error log while trying to connect:

Code:
Aug 2 16:16:21 la2 sshd[8006]: pam_mysql - option verbose is set to "1"
Aug 2 16:16:21 la2 sshd[8006]: pam_mysql - option db is set to "hidden"

Server :: Pam_mysql: Is The Database Connection Encrypted

Jan 24, 2010

I'm interested in using pam_mysql or pam_ldap for authentication with my vsftpd server on CentOS. Does anyone know if, when pam_mysql connects to a remote database, whether or not the connection is, or can be, encrypted with SSL or some other means? While I know that passwords are hashed, I'd rather not have my usernames or my pam-related SQL queries travel in the clear.

If pam_mysql DOES communicate only in the clear, what about pam_ldap? I'm more familiar with LDAP than pam_mysql, and have always secured my conversations with LDAP servers when using an LDAP client or my own LDAP connection libraries.

CentOS 5 :: Installation Of Guest CentOS 5.5 DomU On Centos 5.5 Xen Dom0?

General :: Can't Get CentOS 5.4 X64 GUI To Run

Jan 16, 2010

Trying to install CentOS 5.4 x64 on my I7 as a workstation, I'm having 2 issues.

1. I can't seem to get grub to boot directly to the GUI

2. There are GUI issues. Running startx gives me a black screen and in fact, my monitor goes off which tells me its not getting a signal from the graphics card (Nvidia GeForce 9600)

I tried following this post: [URL] but I could not find any errors and indeed checking the log file provides no errors.

The reason I want to stick with x64 is because I have 8GB of RAM I want to take advantage of because a lot of stuff will be virtualized. If it makes any difference, I do not have any virtualization packages installed.

General :: Yum Not Doing Anything (Centos 5)?

Feb 24, 2011

I just set up a Centos distribution in a VirtualBox, it actually looks like everything looks fine so far. I can connect to the internet both with the browser and with my terminal (i.e. ssh and ping work). The problem is that yum doesn't seem to find anything. When I do

Code:

yum update

it says:

Code:

Loadad Plugins: fastestmirror
Loading mirror speeds from cached hostfile
After that nothing happens. note, that it is not frozen: The terminal cursor is still blinking, when I hit CTRL+C i get a "Exiting on user cancel"

At first I thought it was fastestmirror, so I tried

Code:

yum --disablepluging=fastestmirror update

which resultet again in the blinking cursor but otherwise there were no other progresses.

General :: Installing CentOS 5.5 From DVD

Feb 1, 2011

I have downloaded the following CentOS 5.5 DVD iso files and burn the same using Nero Express:
1. CentOS-5.5-x86_64-bin-DVD-1of2.iso (4.09 GB)
2. CentOS-5.5-x86_64-bin-DVD-2of2.iso (412 MB)

I am trying installing it on a Dell Vostro 1400 laptop. I could boot the machine successfully with the DVD 01. After selecting the Installation method as "Local CDROM" it says: CD Not Found. The CentOS CD was not found in any of your CDROM drives. Please insert the CentOS CD and press OK to retry and it ejects the DVD in a splash. I tried mounting the DVD in a DVD drives in Windows XP SP2 and it is showing the content correctly. I also tried mounting the iso file with PowerISO Virtual Drive manager in Windows XP SP2 and it is mounting well.

I tried many times but of no success. Earlier I tried the following also (before downloading the DVD image files):
1. I successfully installed Ubuntu 10.04 LTS Server Edition on the same machine.
2. The same machine is also working fine with CentOS 5.5 Live CD.
