I have a game .iso for windows. When I run it with Wine 1.01 it says to insert disk into cdrom. I used

but the game still asks for the disk.I also tried to find nocd, but couldn't find any for my version.
I mean can I make it see the .iso as a disk like it happens when one uses Daemon Tools with windows or somehow else?
I know I do fdisk -l /dev/sda and see all the partitions on that disk, and I know I can do mount and see all the mounted partitions. Is there a way to do both at the same time? Ideally what I'd like to see is the output of fdisk -l but with an additional column that shows if a partition is mounted or not.

View 3 Replies View RelatedMounted second hard disk still report 0 bytes even when files are already deleted in rhel5 . I already checked the lost+found and trash . It only happen that disk space on deleted files cannot be recovered after the disk reach full capacity , but if it does not reach yet its full capacity , deleting files will recover the disk space . The format of the disk I have mounted is ext3 also have tried ntfs using fuse but the same problem , once allowed to reach 0 bytes I can no longer recover space with deleting files and had to reformat and restore the backup

View 4 Replies View RelatedThis game is Java based. After rebooting the game works, but on ending the game several notification boxes remain. If these boxes are not closed in the reverse order that the game opened them, it is no longer possible to close them. Only by killing the Java processes can these notifications be made to close. Also after playing the game, even if all these notifications are closed it is many times necessary to kill the Java process(es) in order to get the game to load again at a later time. I am currently using Slackware 1.30, but a similar problem has existed in several of the past releases.
View 4 Replies View RelatedRunning RHEL 5 in a VMWare image, needed to add a second virtual disk, which worked fine - added it in VMWare, used fdisk and mkfs to format and mounted it as /SI50 so I could then access it. Did all this as root of course. Now I have created a new user and when I log in not only do I not see the new drive, but if I try and mount the drive I get an error "only root can do that". I absolutely have to see this drive as this new user so mounting it only for root to see is no good at all. I'm sure I'm fundamentally doing something wrong here, because obviously the way drives appear in Linux is completely different to windows.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've tried to reload a server 3 times, every time I try to setup 4 and 6GB partitions through the disk druid gui during RHEL install by entering 4096 and 6144MB, i end up with partitions showing 3.9GB and 5.9GB when i do a df -h after it boots. Is there a way to make disk druid ask for GB instead of MB during the install process so i can just type 4 and 6 and it will show up right in a df -h.

2). My PHP script needs to save a lot of 'cache' files, how to make the script use the second disk for saving the files - I mean what path should I edit in my script (current is '/var/www/html/tmp')
I want to make the transition from windows (sick of it). Im using Lenovo G530 Laptop and was wondering which would be the best Linux Os (meaning Ubuntu, fedora or something else). Keep in mind that I mostly use my laptop for college work and a lot of video and audio editing. I also want to be able to run Dual operating system (meaning that I wanna run both Linux and Windows) from the same computer as it might be easier for me to make the transition a little bit more easier. After I boot the 16GB second SSD disk is mounted as HOME on /media This seems to be a default. However there is no entry in /etc/fstab to do this. How does it happen?
I want to move my home directories to be on the 16GB disk so I need it to be mounted on /home rather than where it is by default which is /media/HOME
I tried to change my /home to another partition, but after reboot I get an error saying the disk /home could not be mounted..fstab:Quote:

I need a utillity which wil monitor if disk is mounted or not. Is there a software or a script for that? I use fedora 12. Something which will send an email if disk is not mounted. I use encrypted disk, when power is off, after booting on, disk is not mounted on and I don't wan't to be automatically mounted on.

I want to load Ubuntu Desktop 10.10 though so I can do perl development. BUT I want to keep a copy of the entire harddrive with the dell utility partition and Windows Vista in case I want to go back. I was thinking I could image the drive but I not sure what to use, I don't have Ghost or anything, Someone had told me about Clonezilla. Would that work for me? Is it hard to use? Also I want to burn the data to a DVD or something more storable than a harddisk.

Everything works fine, except that it won't make the root directory on the right disk. When I change the root=uuid=<drive id> to my new drive everything is fine, but I can't automate that... in other words I have manually typed the uuid of my root-partition for about 100 times now and I am fed up with that how I can save the uuid of my new drive in the startup parameters?

Biggest one that make game unplayable is mouse. Mouse isn't moving smooth it jumps around. I cannot shoot anything. So i asked for help, and everybody just say install windows. And where is fun in that. If people when ever run into problem with some software on linux just install windows. Linux would never go forward. I m not some great gamer, but i would like to be able to play this game. Probably somebody run into same problem. I sow that people talk about something like dis on WOW and wine but simptoms doesn't seem same to me.
