View 1 RepliesI have one Squid server which was configured to share internet on our networks192.168.20.0) PCs Serrver:192.168.20.25:8080It is working smoothly.Now my problem is that I has to configure one sub server that should allow internet to our 192.168.22.0 network with 3128 port. The sub server will get the connection from main server and it share the inter net to the internal network.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a network of 20 machines, all running Ubuntu 10.04.
Each machine has about 200[GB] of data that I'd like to share with all other 19 machines for READ ONLY PURPOSES. The reading should be done at the FASTEST POSSIBLE WAY.
A friend told me to look into setting up HTTP / FTP. Is it indeed the optimal way to share data between the machines (better than NFS)? if so, how do I go about it?
UPDATE: Just to clarify, all I want is to be able (from within machine X) to access one of machine Ys files and LOAD IT INTO MEMORY. all of the files are of uniform size (500 [KB]). Which method is fastest (SAMBA / NFS / HTTP / FTP)?
Personnally up until now I've been using either NTFS or a ext3 fs driver from Windows. I wonder if there's a better way. Probably NAS is the best, but not really practical with a laptop.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've set up a transparrent squid box with two nics. Eth1 = Internet eth0= LAN +Dchp my question is, can I log the data usage of a skype call. My proxy server already records all http an https requests but doesn't record some programs like skype. I know that it is not http traffic, but can I tell my system to record data use by an ip address over a nic with the help of iptables for example?

how to backup both the system and the data from my Red Hat Server to a share on a windows SBS server where the regular network backup will take it off-site every night. The Red Hat Server is basically a web server on the LAN using RAID 1 to ensure some redundancy in the discs and is used as an internal web server for an administration system.
The Windows SBS server is the domain controller and rest of the network is totally windows based. The SBS server has large discs which host all of the general data to be backed up and is controlled by a 3rd party IT company. We have a share created on the SBS Server which is to backup all of the information from the Red Hat box to ensure we can potentially restore the system quickly in case of a major problem.
The thorn here is that I am working on a different site to the Red Hat Box and have to do everything over SSH. the Red Hat server has Samba running but I have not used it to mount an external windows share? Is there an 'out of the box' backup software on the Red Hat server that I can control over ssh to do the job? The biggest worry for me is the backing up the system to a state where it can be popped on a disc and the system restored from the backup - or most of it anyway - enough to get the server back on its legs.
A few months ago I have setup a server with three hard disks. The partition mapping the disks as follows:
Disk /dev/sda: 1000.2 GB, 1000204886016 bytes
255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 121601 cylinders
Units = cylinders of 16065 * 512 = 8225280 bytes
Disk identifier: 0x7ca36fee

Now I have the following problem the LVM file system don't mount properly.If I open the mount point I see only a few files of the LVM disk. If I want to unmount the disk I get the following error:
umount /data/
umount: /data/: not mounted
If I want to mount the volume I get the following error:
mount -a
mount: /dev/mapper/gegevens-Data already mounted or /data busy

i have installed squid 2.6 on my centos. i have writen a shell script to ping a network and write to a file. write '1' if network up and '0' if network down. After that,a perl script will read the file and do the redirection.Perl will redirect to a fix URL [URL] if the network down and do nothing when it up. i have put my perl script in squid.conf at url_rewrite_program /my_file_path.
below is my shell script for pinging:
Quote:
#!/bin/bash
while [ 1 ]
do
HOST=143.148.137.134
[code]....
My problem is client browser are not redirect to www.google.com even the network is down. It should go to the fix URL when the user click any URL in network down situation.it just appear cannot resolve host.
Can't seem to access my squid server on port 80. I have port 80 allowed in the conf for this IP. apache is listening to port 80 but only on the 2nd IP. iptables is allowing through port 80 incoming nmap shows no ports open on 80 though:
Code:
Starting Nmap 5.00 ( http://nmap.org ) at 2009-08-20 11:19 BST
NSE: Loaded 0 scripts for scanning.
Initiating SYN Stealth Scan at 11:19
[code]....
I have installed squid and dansguardian on my server, I also setup my iptables to forward port 80 communication to port 3128 (squid). I also have remove the comment on /etc/dansguardian/dansguardianf1.conf (line "bannedextensionlist") hoping that my server would block download. But it isn't, it still download file no matter I add in /etc/dansguardian/lists/bannedextensionlist. Oh yeah, I also add this line to my /etc/squid/squid.conf
Code:
cache_peer 172.16.1.212 parent 8080 0 no-query default
so that squid will consider dansguardian as it's parent.
I recently finished installing Squid 3.1.9 and I think I've done installing correctly with its feature of minor configuration changes. It accepted requests on port 3128 and created and the created some numerical or binary (I guess) files in /usr/local/squid/var/logs, My problem is how can I fully verify if the cache is really storing Internet Files? I've read some forums in the Internet replied to me to try the command: cat /usr/local/squid/var/logs/cache.logSo I did tried it and it gives me this output:
2010/11/11 18:04:49| store_swap_size = 0
2010/11/11 18:04:50| storeLateRelease: released 0 objects
2010/11/11 18:05:41| Squid is already running! Process ID 5458
