General :: Firefox 3.6 And Up - Adjust The Width Of The Vertical Scrollbar

I'd like to widen the width of the standard vertical scrollbar in firefox 3.6 or above. I know now that it is not an edit in about:config and appears that you have to edit in user.js, prefs.js, or in the Profile folder but I 3 prefs.js in my profile folder -
prefs.js
prefs-1.js and
prefs-2.js
Secondly, I cannot find the user.js file. its location if it is still a viable file to edit. which (or what) prefs file I should concentrate on for this edit.
Plainly, it shouldn't be this tough to adjust the vertical scrollbar width, in a perfect world it would be adjustable though Windows. Anyway, this old fart's having difficulty grabbing that scrollbar.
A couple of days I started using latex and have still one question about the table width. My table is too wide for a page. How can I adjust it so that it fits on the full width of a page? Can I use a command or do I have to specify each column widths by hand?
My table looks like this;
I did try several commands likeextwidth, esizebox, setlength but didn't found the solution yet.
Can't find info on how to move my hundreds of Camino bookmarks from a Mac G5 power-pc OSx Leopard to Ubuntu setup onto an older AMD PC. Camino doesn't appear to have a Linux version at least that I can find. If it does have one I would prefer Camino. Probably not so is it preferable in any way discernable, to the Firefox that I'm using now (doesn't look like it to me)?
Secondly, the vertical arrows for paging up and down on the screen - can't seem to find the preference that puts them together at the bottom instead of up arrow at the top and down arrow at the bottom.
I use ioctl to get the cosole window size (the SSH window).

When I debug on linux pc, it gives me the correct window width. But after I try it on router (this is my enventual place where my code shall run), ioctl always give me 0 width, that is, numberOfColumnsOfTerminalWindow == 0. but the returnValue is 0 which means that the function call succeeds.
Since I installed Lucid, anytime I watch a video in Firefox I can't adjust the volume. I click on the little volume icon, and the volume meter pops up, but it won't let me change it.Also, I can't change to a different point in the video.And finally, it won't go full screen when I click on the fullscreen button.
I am working on xlib project to develop text editor without using help from any of toolkit/widgets.I get stuck in scrollbar.I have no idea how they work and developed.It become more difficult as I am using low-level C library - xlib.
I'm enjoying the default 10.04 theme, but the one thing that doesn't work for me is the scrollbar. I can hardly see it. Where I can edit just the scrollbar color without changing themes completely?
I am logging the output of: top -b -n1 -c so I can keep track of which processes are using how much memory and CPU each minute. When top shows the full command line (-c), the command line text gets truncated at the edge of the screen. This is perfect when running and displaying in a terminal. However, I am sending STDOUT to a file for parsing later and want the full command name logged. Is there a way I can tell top to use a specific screen width? (I know it maxes at 512, that would be fine)
Is there a better way to achieve a similar goal: get periodic stats about which processes are running and how many resources they are consuming?
I'm using the Human-Clearlooks theme on Lucid (Gnome) with compiz/nvidia driver.
I'd like to have the scrollbar sliders a bit (only) more visible. Ideally, it would switch orange when I hover it with the mouse, and stay gray otherwise. This is because my screen is quite large, and when the slider is small I find it difficult to find its position.
1. I opened the gtkrc file and set colorize_scrollbar = TRUE in the engine "clearlooks" block. Now the scrollbar sliders are always orange. I'd really like to have them orange only on hover.
2. There is a "clearlooks-scrollbar" style. I tried adding (fg|bg|base|text)[] in it. I found that:A. fg[] is for the arrow within the top and bottom square boxes
B. bg[NORMAL] and bg[INSENSITIVE] define the color of the box containing the arrow (or if colorize_scrollbar = FALSE, the color of the whole scrollbar, including the square boxes and the slider itself)
C. bg[PRELIGHT] is the color of the box containing the arrow when hovered
D. bg[SELECTED] is the color of the slider (permanent)As it was most unsuccessful, I tried to force the murrine engine for the scrollbars only. Now with bg[PRELIGHT] = @selected_bg_color I get something fairly close to my expectations.
Only I'd like the bar to be pre-lighted not only when the mouse is over the slider, but as soon as it is over the scrollbar. Here I must say I'm at loss, and I really can't find how to do it.

I have a mixed set of images, each one having a slightly different resolution with a slightly different aspect ratio from the other images.I have tried using commands like:convert -resizeand:convert -cropHowever I can't seem to figure out the correct command to make all images have a width of 1024 and an aspect ratio of 6x4, without causing the image to stretch or get squashed.

Anyhow just one giant string that's longer than my screen's width. If I simply copy and paste that string after a grep command, it seems that the terminal inserts newlines at the terminal's width and therefore not the whole string goes in. Even if I insert a quote before the beginning of the string and then paste it in, terminal still reads in a newlines somehow and obviously says command not found, etc.
My task bar is quite broad. so when ever i open more than 6 windows at a time then the task bar adjusts the tabs in two row. how can explicitly specify the width for those tabs. so that they all fit in one line.
This is my third SLackware install. I installed 10,12, now 13. the Xorgsetup has changed I think, it does not display the screen to choose Horizontal and Vertical settings for the monitor. In addition, how can I set the Refresh rate?
Way back from Windows 3.x days to the latest 64bit Windows 7 (classic/standard theme)there is a way to make the window edge border wider then 1 pixel.I often use 3 to 5 pixel to make it easy to grab on hi-resolutions displays and hi DPI monitors.There doesn't seem to be an easy or obvious way to do this with the Gnome X-Windowing system?
Have just installed my frist linux os and the screen has a big black border around it. Set the res on install to 1024x768 & this is displayed in display settings. If I run xrandr in a shell tool it only shows 640x480 available.xorg.conf has "1024x768" "800x600" & "640x480" available.Have search the web but nothing I've found works.
I want to adjust clock in ubuntu. When I installed it it asked about location and setting if for asia it automatically take the clock, but that timing is not correct. It showed 10 pm when actually it was 5pm. After installation I tried it to adjust but it could not be managed..it automatically took that previous timing.
to see the packet drops every 1 second. but the problem is the output is so long(Due to large number of virtual interfaces) it doesn't fit into the putty prompt. I dont need to monitor each and every network interface I m more interested in monitoring the interfaces starting from vif but whenever i run following command it doesnt display anything.
I have a low end 7" CnMBook running modified Debian OS. Is there any way to adjust the screen brightness, if possible by adding a Fn command Up and Down?
I'm on Debian with KDE 3.5 desktop and I use the Konsole terminal emulator.What I would like to know is: is it possible to tweak the color palette, for example to change my red to something a bit brighter? I use the "white on black" schema in Konsole and all colors are great except that red is far too dark on the black background. I found this Perl script that is supposed to change the palette but, while it prints the current palette just fine, I can see no difference between the various palettes.Searching for solutions mostly brings up pages about changing the scheme in Konsole or how to use colors in prompts and ls output etc, which is not quite what I need.
I just upgraded from Ubuntu 8.1 to 9.1. Selecting (tapping) with the touchpad is a problem. I can not adjust it with the System > Preferences > Touchpad GUI. I have to tap and tap and tap, harder and harder. The sensitivity is way off. Can't adjust it with the GUI.
Anyone else have this issue. I'm using a Dell Inspiron.
More info: sometimes I tap and it works. Other times I have to tap tap tap tap, harder and harder. I believe it's a matter of adjusting the sensitivity of the touchpad, but do not know how to do this after upgrading to 9.1.
